Stepped outside the motel at 4 am to see if the rain was having much effect on the snow - found I was covered with a dozen or so coloured dots. Motel has one of those Xmas light projectors ...kind of surprised...shows up nice on the snow though....

Headed out in the direction of French River - trail closed at Dollars Lake - no stakes that I could see either....turned around and ran some of the local AR trails in no particular pattern.

Started raining a bit and thought about heading back - got a thought balloon of one of Canuck's previous rainy trip posts here and figured if he could wear a garbage bag over his head in a rain storm so could I.....but rain stopped shortly after.....

Came back from lake trails to town....new lake access due to large restaurant / lodge built on the shoreline - story here on the forum somewhere...lake access moved to the east a little ways....trails turns at the Home Hardware and down a hill...

Which means you might miss Jake's Place....not too busy in the morning, twice as many sleds in the afternoon later...

Came in for lunch and then out again....trails had deteriorated due to warm weather and snow became moisture laden. Will need more snow to groom trails into good shape.

The Argyle club holds its poker run next weekend - February 3 - 4 - with colder temperatures and more snow forecasts, you know this club will have things back in really good shape.

Thanks to them for this riding opportunity this year !

New owner at Roxie's Diner, Port Loring - same chef - home made burger excellent. Also, try the deep fried cheese curds as an appetizer.

Seemed every time we stoped in last year they were closed, and ended up at Jakes...I think that is also for sale...try again in a few weeks when I can ride there from my house

There is good reason to be confused for sure - Roxie's seems open for supper, Jake's more for breakfast and lunch. Below are the hours for this year:

Monday    Closed
Tuesday    3–9p.m.
Wednesday    3–9p.m.
Thursday    3–9p.m.
Friday    12–11p.m.
Saturday    12–11p.m.

Jake's Hours:

Sunday 8a.m.–3p.m.
Monday 7a.m.–3p.m.
Tuesday 7a.m.–3p.m.
Wednesday 7a.m.–3p.m.
Thursday 7a.m.–3p.m.
Friday 7a.m.–8p.m.
