Techdenis007
So the wife said "We're going to the lake, just the 2 of us" ... OK !!!! Loaded the Cheyenne and the Alpine, a load of firewood, 2 lawn chairs and a thermos & lunch .... boring ride out, but awesome riding around the park. Way different with snow and no leaves in the bush ! Started out at the gate by the roadside, kind of iffy getting around the gate, there's a stump in an awkward spot, but got over it ok .... A couple of people have been in from the lake with mountain sleds, trenched it up in a few spots, but not brutal, still rideable. Gatehouse on the road in, no-one to welcome us today ..... Staff quarters ..... Made it to our site safe & sound .... Load of wood, 2 chairs, shovel (you'll see why the shovel) .... Here's why we need the shovel ...... Managed to take a selfie with the phone, using 3 logs and an axe to hold it the right way .... turned out good ! Doris26 the happy camper, without a camper ..... Got 'er rockin' pretty good, snow melting into a lake under the wood ... Out for a ride around the park, downed tree on the road .... Sorry, no fish to clean today .... The park in the park, Marie-Josée's favorite place ..... Parking lot near the boat launch .... .... Never get tired of seeing these tracks ..... Facing the lake .... Can't have a day in a Provincial Park without seeing a chicken .... Just before leaving, last pic of the fire ... it's melted pretty good, it'll prolly drown itself out .... See you next time !!!! (sign is getting due for a refreshing ....) Looks like we're going back out tomorrow, with the kids this time. Gonna bring a bigger load of firewood and leave whatever we don't burn right there, it IS our lot after all .... I'll add tomorrow's pics on here in the evening. .......... Ski No motivation for ice fishing this year, got all the gear just don't feel like it. When I get a proper sleigh that I can toss all the stuff in and everything fits, that I can slide in the garage all loaded up ready until I need it, I might be more tempted. Until then it's just too much hassle.

Techdenis007
Great pics Denis. How long does it take you to get to your campsite from your house? Thanks Scott & Snapper. Little over an hour, more pulling the trailer and sleds, being careful with the windshield's. 102 km to the entrance, couple more going in. Trails closed in Hearst, Hornepayne were limited this morning, should be closing soon.

Techdenis007
Day 2 started bright and sunny, sun went a way for a while but came back. Pretty breezy too, switching from all directions. Milder though, you could feel it in the air, and in the snow .... the crust was giving way and sleds were feeling heavier than yesterday. You could see puddles of open water under all the trees that had no snow around them, clearly it's not very frozen under the snow. First things first, stack the firewood and light the fire .... She's rippin' pretty good, had to get some good coals in to cook the hot dogs .... Marie-Josée having a good day, very smiley all day .... She says "Don't put this picture on Facebook, Grandma's gonna give me heck 'cause I don't have my coat on...." lol what a sweetie .... Kids had fun exploring our site and the neighbouring sites .... she's got 2 classmates across the road, 2nd and 3rd site over .... Ok, enough picture taking ... off we went for a ride, Marie wanted to play at the park, so Alexandre and I went for a spin ... we were expecting friends to come but they never showed, we went to the gatehouse to see, just in case, weren't there. Oh well, plenty of park to explore. Went up one of the old roads to the chapel, came up on a pretty good pine tree blown down, got over it ok going in, but Alexandre (who tried it on his own coming back) got hung up on it coming back .... had to give a little boost to get it over ... The Chapel, been closed for years but the sign is still up ... maybe just going up there is uplifting enough for some. I felt obliged to go up, as it was Sunday after all ... Took a few pics across and down the lake, with the real camera, knowing the optical/digital zoom combo can reach way out there .... few pics across the lake ... Down the long end of the lake .... Lakeside campsites, usually boats all along there in summertime. Headed back home got everything settled away (again) and took it easy tonight. Looking at the forecast, all the snow on the roads in the park will likely be all but gone by the end of the weekend, with the temps they're calling for ... ridiculous season, glad to have ended it this way .... the end of one season, opening the door to another. Good times.

Techdenis007
Great pics Denis. Kids having fun That sleigh has to be as old as the Alpine We've got a "Rider" sleigh that Dad bought in the early 70s. A steel version before they changed to fibreglass. Thanks guys. Yes Rev, it's a 70 as well, but not from the same time ... The uncle that gave us the Alpine and the Ski-boose also had an Olympique 12/3 1970. He had originally bought the Oly and the Boose together as a set, and picked up the Doubletrack later from a friend (who had done the mods with the engine & exhaust, and installed the racks, which it didn't originally come with them. Racks on the Alpines started around 74. Right now the boose is just a shell, I've got the front plastic cowling (a bit broken, missing a small piece), and the rear backrest cushion, and the uncle still has the seat frame and plywood seat base at home in the garden shed (along with the original Yammie carb for the 433 and a 640 engine....) Gotta go over this spring when the snow's gone and pick all that up, then it'll be time to at least partially restore it. I kept the old windshield off my Cheyenne to hopefully trim it down to fit the 'boose, even if it's not authentic it'll be functional. Too many things to be done before touching that.....
