02Sled
02Sled, I think I may have missed the chance of meeting you in person yesterday! I was riding my red GSX at the head of a group of 7 sleds from the Bala direction and stopped at the junction of B105 to talk with a larger group of maybe 20 sleds coming from the Port Severn direction on C. This was probably just around noon. Nunz and I spoke with a nice older fellow wearing an OFSC crest (I believe he was volunteer of the year last year?) as well as with a lady in red, by the name of Gertrude if I recall correctly. We were advised that 6 Mile Lake was fine, so we carried on to Port Severn and had a dandy lunch at the Dam Grill. I knew we were in your neck of the woods, so I should have asked about you. Damn Blake.... I was there, definitely our group. The person you were talking with was Bud Knowles. He and his wife Doreen were honoured by the OFSC. He has been volunteering since time began and was governor for D7 at one time and continues to volunteer with the club the district and more. Gerti and her husband Tom do our signage. Another couple of great volunteers. I had the chance to chat with Steve from your group for a bit as well. I spoke with him and another gentleman who had the map out about the options for the route south and recommended 6 Mile Lake if they were concerned about time or C trail if they wanted the scenic route. I had the green cat with a green and black suit. I was riding the tail end of the group to make sure everyone was accounted for. They also asked about Christies Mill being open. I told them they were but also mentioned the other options such as Dam Grill, Hero Burger etc. Oh well perhaps another time.

coolbane
I did something I haven't done since I lived near Ottawa 15 yrs ago; ride from my home to the OFSC trails. Left home before 8 expecting all the backroads to be unploughed as it was Sun morn. Wrong!!!. Every road for the 20 miles from Milton to Brisbane was perfectly ploughed and groomed for the church going crowd. We were able to ride enough ditches and banks so there was no prob with cooling. 76 miles on the odo and home by 11 AM. Bowling in the afternoon, seriously. Scott S
I took a nice afternoon ride around the Thamsford and Science Hill clubs in D5. Trails were awesome. Nice to mix it up and take different routes. I think I ended up with about 120 miles. Now my fuel range is 150 miles it makes it allot more fun not worrying about fuel on a short ride. catinental couch
Almost 48 so far this year on the old Cockshutt $ 712.00 worth of gasoline in the old 1 ton plow truck since just before xmas and I only plow the shop and the house.I am glad I don't have to pay the snow removal costs for what you guys have up there.I have lost half of my parking at the shop and the snowbanks are 6 ft high by 36 ft in depth. We have almost got the back lawn filled with snow and have not had any place to put snow in the back driveway for weeks at the house. If our winters are going to be like this for the next few winters,I am going to have to take the Parry Sound theory and invest in a tractor and blower.
