Well, MERRY CHRISTMAS

First sledders for a quick run (already had overnighters) They rode from Gogama to here, Some grooming done on our side but not Gogama yet and they said it was a GREAT ride 1 1/2 hours. Somehow got turned around and wound up on Grassy to here...haha  But had a great Christmas day ride

Gas, a beer and back home in time for supper

We will be here except for Friday morning .... taking the wee lad for his week away at XMAS, will be back here by 2 30

Hello everyone,

Here is an update for Shining Tree area trails (part of Gogama Snowmobile Club): we managed to do one pass on the local trail L142 and adjoining C trail. We still need more snow to cover some creeks and the groomer is down regarding transmission issues. The mechanic will be in on Monday and will hopefully be able to fix it.

In the Gogama area, we still need more snow for the power line. Also, due to a washout this summer, we need to build a snow bridge which the road was plowed- we are therefore waiting for more snow.

thx

Thanks for the update Snowdust,...glad to hear a pass has been done as the guys who sledded from Capreol last week said the ride was great with NO passes done....should be really good then

Happy New Years to all

Happy New Year to All

Received an email today from the Gogama Snowmobile Club

The groomer is down in Shinning Tree and with the holidays, it will be Thursday at the earliest to have a mechanic up here.

The C Trail South Sudbury has been groomed once and is being signed now. The L142, which is the Local Trail leading into Shining Tree was started when the groomer went down and there is  a creek that he couldn't cover as the reverse went out of the groomer. Derek has put STOP signs at the creek to make sledders aware until the groomer issue is reconciled. Will keep you posted, and a little FYI, it is do able as we have had sledders here from Capreol.....Just Pay Attention to the Signs

Have a GREAT ride and be safe

Just a little FYI

One of the groups in today came from Rockys, got here at 3 15, had some lunch and are heading to Timmins now via Grassy Road, as the road has not been graded for logging as of today. They said it was an amazeing trip up.

Spoke to the Gogama Snow Club this morning and the groomer only went out on a test run and is still needing repairs. She will shoot me an email this evening re the status of the Shining Tree Groomer and how the hydro line, lake and culvert in Gogama are as Pat is going out today to check it all. I am getting many calls on why our trail is not marked limited yet....even though sleds have been comeing up, if it is deemed limited and anything happens, it is the Gogama Club responsible. So all I can tell you is I will keep posting as I know new news and there are sledders heading up.

Thanks for all your patience

Kelly

K - I'm supposed to be there next weekend from North Bay.  Sound like there's a trail from North Bay.  What's happening with the trail to New Liskeard?

Hello everyone,

This is where the GSC is standing: the Shining Tree groomer is still not fixed after changing a part on it and the transmission is still acting up so it will have to be floated to New Liskeard to get repaired.

As for the Gogama groomer, it went out Thusrday for the first pass and was able to build the snow bridge at Kenogamissi but just had enough snow to be able to cross. We made it all the way to the steep hill in the power line but wasn't able to climb the hill. We have called Timmins to come groom the upper section of the hill and they will make their way there this week.

Have a great weekend and ride safe

Good morning Snowdust,

Thank you for the information. We all hope that the groomer issues can be resolved soon! It is amazing how much passion, time, effort and sweat is involved by the few volunteers that work on the trails in our area.
