Rev09
I was up there 2 weeks ago. Tons of snow and the ride from the canyon to Smooth Rock is pretty damn fast....just watch some of those dips at high speeds
edgehead
just got back from that run.It was damn cold!! A beautifull loop. -38 on wed morning.Total mileage was 190 miles. We left from Thrift Lodge in Cochrane and went to Smoothrock Falls to Smoothies resturant where we filled up with gas and went in and warmed up.That was 48 miles. Then from smoothies to base camp 51 miles. The new trail from smoothrock up following the hydro line is fast and saw no sleds.Played in the canyon a little, then filled up with regular gas at 2.20 a litre, had some lunch then back down the other side to cochrane to Thrift Lodge again and that was 90.8 miles We had a great week.saw very few sleds.A little chilly at times but still a great trip! Viper-Rules!
I would do the loop in reverse. This loop is best if you go from Cochrane to smooth rock falls fill up with fuel. That way when you arrive at the canyonn and fraserdale 50 miles later you will only need half a tank of fuel at $2.20 a litre, instead of a full one. Half fun If money is no concern then do the loop the other way . Steve
