blakesnowcrest
As some of you are aware of the ongoing positive partnership between Snowcrest Riders, the Town of Gravenhurst and the Town of Gravenhurst Snowmobile Tourism Task Force, Snowcrest Riders is planning on cutting a section of trail on Town Property on Saturday November 3rd. Last season a section of trail was cut to eliminate some road running on Muldrew Lk Rd (Trail C101D). On Nov 3rd we will be cutting another section to further reduce road running on Muldrew Lk Rd. We are asking for help from our volunteers. If you have not volunteered for the Club before but would like to, please come out and introduce yourself. You will be welcomed! The section to be cut will require experienced and certified chainsaw operators who must either have their Chainsaw safety certificate on file at the Snowcrest office or provide a copy to the job Person in Charge on Saturday November 3rd. Approved Chainsaw Safety PPE is a MUST for those operating chainsaws. We can also use help if you have hand held snippers for limbing and manpower to move logs & brush. The job will begin at 8am, and is located just a couple of km's off of hwy 169 Gravenhurst (near the Wharf) on Muldrew Lk Road. Snowcrest Riders Steve Crown will be the PIC (Person in Charge) for this project. Please email snowcrest@vianet.ca to confirm if you will be coming out. Thankyou in advance!!! 2bsledding
NO kidding. Talk about a town taking the bull by the horns. Good for them, and major KUDOS.. This is why it is important for Clubs to do Deputations to their Municipal Council and Staff one per year, to let them know how & what the Club is doing and remind them of what the Club as a volunteer organization brings to the community. It's best to form an alliance with the local businesses as Snowcrest did, Host an after hours Chamber of Commerce meet & greet with finger foods & refreshments and press "play" on the OFSC Opportunity knocks DVD. THEN, do the deputation to Council with the Opportunity knocks DVD and have one or 2 business owners / managers speak about the positive impacts the Club and trails provide for businesses. The Opportinity knocks DVD was a fantastic product that the OFSC put together, and distributed to ALL OFSC clubs in the Province. Money well spent if it is used! Clubs can not continue to count on Provincial money to do every little thing that needs to be done.
