  1. Well its off to my cabin this week. Going to try the used engine transplant out. Hope the happy wanderers have worked there magic by Thursday.
  2. Hoping Bracebridge is getting some. Itching to get to the Irishman cabin
  3. The motor that blew had 242hrs on it untouched. No overheating issues prior to failure and ran 1200km after track tunnel replacement. So cooling system was fine. Cold night minus 18 degrees coming down a fresh groomed rail trail out of Mont Laurier. 300 km plus the day of failure . Replacement engine is from a wrecked machine with 80hrs on it. I am not doing this job so pics are from the guy working on it. Need to salvage the season as time is short. Not bad turnaround 2 days down and pick up tomorrow. But lost 2 days prime time in Quebec.
  4. Update on my 850. Pto side head gasket failure. Coolant also damaged crank bearings. Full rebuild needed no warranty left. Just coincidence that rabbit hit happened at time of failure. I drive hard but expected more than 11444km on a so called 4 stroke reliability motor. Last year the track ripped off and I got a new tunnel and track under my insurance. Put 1200km on after that so can't blame the dealers work. Getting a used motor and flogging it after this season. Still have my trusty 1200. Not as fun. And as for sidewinders have not seen a reliably one yet in the chain case department. My friends old one and now his new srx just failed again.
  5. Hit a rabbit and have your engine blow at the same time. Only on a sled. The curse of meekos continues for me and my buddy on his yamicat srx . My engine his chain case. 850 etc down at 11444km. BS. Trails were a 10 and 1 day ride. Drive 1500km to sled 1 day. Arggggg. Last year blew track off day 1. Laughs priceless
  6. They ran out of premium fuel there when we were up.
  7. Lost a set of carbides and sliders in one day there. Lol. Early is chancy.
  8. Let's hope the Happy Wanderers get the trail going thru bigwind this year . Real frustrated for them with all this going on.
  9. And everyone's nickers are in knots over a bit of Atving.
  10. Wow. As long as it's on a sanctioned atv trail what do you expect. Ban mud tires will be the next thing. Sounds like you don't want to challenge yourself.
  11. They should make a video on how to prevent it in the first place. It must be a shock when it happens. Been lost at night in blizzard conditions on lakes. Not fun.
  12. I have heard rumors of a reroute. Was hoping last week to look myself to see the situation. Let us know what is developing.
  13. It has to start somewhere. I admire his determination. My cottage is just out of Bracebridge and I have watched the trail system grow. I use both Atvs and Snowmobiles and like having options. The 101 trail is very wide on the shared principle. If everything is marked accordingly I don't see any issues.
  14. Yes he is a entertaining fellow. Food is good and he can hussle around. He had to go out the evening we arrived to plow his 100km rd out and back to insure his fuel delivery would make it. Came back at 3am and was up for 6am. Some rig he used as well.
  15. Try to incorporate the Serpentine Lodge in your N.B. plan. It's a bit rustic but warm and welcome. Great back country riding.
  16. Feel like a rat in a cage there. Not for me
  17. It's too bad we are losing so many good historic stops. Ox narrows Ahmic tavern. Barr Head. Now the infamous Sprucedale. Where a fellow to go now.
  18. Looking at the pics I can almost hear the stories. R.I.P.
  19. I was wondering when you would add your comment. True that was a lemon. But the engineering on that thing is a nightmare. Best thing on it was the warm spot above the handlebars to dry gear.
  20. Saw that on the atvs a few weeks ago. Could be a problem for sure this season.
