  1. I know we have strayed off topic a little, seems to happen now and then, but I will throw in my 2 cents. Sleds sales appear to be a way up, used market is still crazy, or at least prices seem to be high weather or not they are actually fetching the asked price. But in my travels this year, and having a rail trail right beside the house, traffic certainly seems less than in other years in my opinion. I didn’t sit and count or anything so I don’t have any data to back it up, but it’s definitely quieter at my place. Maybe everyone who had pipes got rid of them and I don’t hear them, no wing nights locally either and gas prices may be having an effect. Just my random observation. Now back to our original broadcast. Congrats to those getting spring orders done. That’s dedication.
  2. Possibly v2, but I heard rumours of an argument of sorts in the kitchen. But these days, who knows?
  3. Terry’s on Friday night was only offering from the Deep Fried menu. Advertised as a steak house, but not that night. Can’t say I’d recommend going here. Could have been an off night though I suppose. But it’s not the place I remember from previous trips. 49th on Saturday night was definitely better, roadhouse type spot which is up my alley.
  4. volunteer2, I only know that if you buy gas from them, the 10L minimum comes into effect. Their business, their policy. I know lots of guys can make it around, but when I have been there I bought gas to support the cause. From my understanding, when they don’t have gas they the trail gets closed. I guess it’s more of a safety issue (liability) Others with more/ better information can chime in.
  5. Thanks for the heads up scottyr. With the price increase up there, and reports on trail last night that Smooth Rock out of gas saves me heading up, disappointing but lots of trails around in great shape to explore.

    F'in Rain

I just finished a 12 hr groomer run on the west end of D1. Trails are probably the best they have been all season. We got about 1 inch of sleet/ ice pellets with a little rain last night around 7, nowhere near the forecasted mess they were talking about. Some snow this morning to boot. But it all groomed up nice and has a little moisture in it so it’s setting up nicely. Heading north tomorrow so won’t even get a chance to ride on it. Oh well.
  7. I am not sure if it is still there policy or not, but last time I was there (2018?) there was a minimum 10L per sled. Someone here that has been up this season can verify if that is still the case I’m sure.
  8. We have a few “no winter maintenance “ roads here. One in particular has several camps on it, and nobody plows it off luckily. I am surprised they don’t, but maybe the hopes are that someone won’t just drive in and clean the place out? When I come across the atv tracks there now, I can almost guarantee it’s camp owners going to check on their place.
  9. Read this earlier today. Sad. It would be my last day in the groomer if it happened to me, probably because I’d be breaking some of the rules in the agreement that we sign to be operators. Don’t think we are allowed to punch anyone, maybe I should reread the paperwork.

    F'in Rain

Yup, pretty much the same here in Pakenham /Arnprior area, plus will have to check trails for downed trees after the F’n wind last night.
  11. Had a dealer like that. Had being the key word. Jim’s Performance Plus in Iroquois along the St Lawrence Seaway. Family run, great people, always knew you by name.
  12. Paulslund, my ‘14 says this on the filler cap, haven’t paid attention to the one in my new to me ‘21. M local fuel station, and supporter of our club, told me that all grades(87,89 91) have ethanol in them now since January 1st . I haven’t researched this, just going by his information.
  13. Had this scenario play out before. Always take my sweet time moving the trees when they are waiting impatiently. When I tell them it will go much quicker with help, they always seem to reply that they would help, but this is my good riding suit. The bike club will ask to use it now after it’s been cleared.
  14. I had a trail that had to be closed this season and needed it removed from the ITG. All I did was send a screenshot of the ITG with the affected area, sent it to my district manager with my request and within a day it was done. How they do it I can’t say, I don’t need to know that stuff. Your results may vary.
  15. Old sledhead, I appreciate all you do for snowmobiling because I know what it’s like, being involved myself since high school, ( I too have many roles in our club) and my kids have been done high school for a few years themselves. For the most part it’s been fun working with family and friends, it’s why we do it but the last number of years it is definitely getting worse with the BS, ignorance and entitlement. Every year I say this is the last one, then we start over again. Family here started a lot of the trail building or improvements of existing bush trails in our area, and as they still volunteer and ride, I stuck with it, but my time doing it will have to come to an end sooner than later, as it comes with toll physically, mentally and financially. This is too much to ask of a “volunteer “ Good luck in whatever you choose to do. Please keep us updated.
  16. Good work Soup, I never sleep good knowing someone is in the groomer, would rather it was me in it if/when it breaks down. We don’t have the same remoteness as you, but at -30 it doesn’t really matter. Were you able to repair it there, or is that today’s job?
  17. Hopefully they treat you fairly. I was dealing with insurance yesterday adding a second sled, and the woman I spoke with was super pleasant to talk to, but there was definitely an issue for me with bad hearing, an accent and she probably has to wear a mask all day. I felt bad asking her to repeat some things, hope she didn’t take it personally.
  18. Gadgetman, yes in D1 lost for this season and probably beyond. It’s a club trail, but I’ll leave it there for now. PLC, we don’t use them normally as too much driving around to change them, and Yes, refer to ITG is what we follow. The TC signs I put up are for the sheep that just know where the trail has always been, even though there are no other trail signs installed this season. I also put them up to show our former landowners that we still care about their property, in hopes of returning someday.
  19. The above pic shows me that they obviously have no respect for their own property (sleds) so why would they have any respect for someone else’s property or a closed trail for that matter. Our club lost a trail that’s been in existence since ‘78, and a long time landowner had enough and there is no route around him, we tried. I am curious how many ride right past my 12 Trail Closed signs.
  20. Almost totally green,...........and brown. Nowhere near enough white stuff to hide it. Sad start here, and not much coming either.
  21. That sucks. Hopefully the a-holes get what they deserve.
  22. Same here in D1. Actually less ATV use this year as low snow allowed trucks to cross most fields, but old truck uses more gas, warmer though.
  23. Last few years been thinking of just heading out the back yard, onto the A trail and just keep heading west. Been to Cochrane and Hearst multiple times, but just once I think I'd like to try it without the truck. Kinda like a Forest Gump type thing, just keep going till I get tired, then just turn around. Maybe this is the year, never know.
  24. We have the same problems on some of our trails. The only ATV/SXS trail around is a railbed, the damaged trails are old road allowances, therefore there is no way the ATV club would assist with repairs. We have given up on spending time and money on repairs, just wait for more snow to open the trail up. Enough other stuff to do as is.
