  1. Was out today for a short ride. Almaguin 302 and 303 were groomed.D123 was getting groomed towards Kearney.Seguin was good till the D trail on the west side of Sprucedale. The Magnetewan club has been up to the Seguin on the 704 and 711. Parry Sound club has not come across to Sprucedale yet.
  2. I saw the Highland Rovers have been through the 95 trail. I passed by it in my truck today where it crosses at Bay lake road and Rochester road. Looks like it is pretty thin .
  3. Ran into Mark Reynolds of the Highland Rovers today. He did not get down to the d101b the other day.He was working on that today. He was hoping to get down to Billie bear then back up to the 102 to 95 today. I think he might be a little optimistic. He was working on plowing snow from approx 100 feet on each side of the trail in a swampy area trying to fill in a trench on the trail created by atv's. .Their other groomer was going west on the Seguin. Almaguin got their new groomer back from the shop.Had problems with the DEF system.D123 was good. The 303 was rough on my way out but i did pass the groomer on my way back to Sand Lake .The 303 was a little better but we still need snow.
  4. If you can't run ice scratchers you might have to look into Dupont sliders. They are not cheap but well worth it imo.

  8. The d101b is the trail i was talking about.Mark had the groomer on behind the Piston Bully when i saw him.We got a few more inches this week. Here is a link so you can see in real time what is happening /snow level and the current temp in the Almaguin area.http://www.almaguin.com/wxcurrent/weather.html...It has been very cold here the last two days. It was minus 36 celcius at Sand Lake this morning at 8am without any wind chill factored in.
  9. Talked to Mark Reynolds today. The Highland Rovers were going over to Bear Lake.Said they were going to pack 101 tomorrow.
  10. Almaguin has started to pack and clear down trees this past weekend. We only got 3 inches of snow yesterday.
  11. Great points Blake! But i agree with Gobills if your buying a Polaris i would probably buy the 650 and save some money. It is supposed too be around 140 hp ish. I am a Doo guy so for me it would be the 900.
  12. Thanks for your reply. I've haven't known anyone to use them .Seems like a good option to regular studs.
  13. Question ecarnell...Have you used those studs before? And if so how many kilometers did you put on them and how well did they last? Thanks....
  14. On Dootalk lots of rave reviews for the Beamtech Led lights. I have installed these on my sled but have not been able to try them yet.

  22. Was at a Holloween party this weekend and was talking with a guy i know.He has had his 22 Enduro 900r for a couple of weeks. And it is complete.Bought it from Energy in Oakville.
  23. The person(Donna) that took over the kitchen at Silversands a little over a year ago has left and went to the Legion in town. Her Grand Opening was today. As of right now there is no one running the kitchen at Silversands. The person (April) that was at the Legion has moved into the former Suds on Main.I think she is calling it The Fork on Main.I will update if i hear anything new. Hope this clears any confusion.
  24. When i first purchased my place it was not winter ready. The people only used it in the summer and shut it down for the winter. It had electric baseboard and wood for heat. So first plan of attack was to have water year round. I draw off the lake so that resulted in burying the water line deeper from the building into the lake. This avoided the use of heat trace cable. Now i needed to heat the crawl space so that the plumbing and pump wouldn't freeze. To do this i used a 4800 watt electric heater .Up on the main floor i kept the electric heaters at 50 degrees. When i would arrive i would turn on the power for the water pump,uv light, elec hot water heater then fire up the wood stove and turn its fan on to blow the heat around.A couple of hours later it would bearable enough to remove your coat. Pull back your bed sheets so that your bed gets warm too. It took probably a good 8 hours to have the walls ,furniture etc fully warmed up. The heat would radiate enough to the crawl space that the heater would not come on when i was there. There were no vents from the main floor to the crawl space. My crawl space is roughly 4feet deep across the whole space. My place is just over 1000 sq ft. When i would leave i would shut off the power to the pump,uv light and hot water. I would open the doors to the vanity in the bathroom and the doors to the kitchen sink so that the heat would keep the pipes under the sinks from from freezing.Did that for a few years then had a oil furnace installed in the crawl space with duct work. After it was installed i would turn the furnace down to 10 celcius. Then i realized that the furnace would work hard trying to get my place up to temperature when i would arrive. So after that i would only turn it down to 15 celcius when i would leave. It was easier on the furnace to bring the place up to temperature and the difference in the oil bill could hardly be noticed. I would still shut off the pump,uv light and hot water when i would leave.
