  1. Did a 315 km loop today from Hillsburgh to Markdale creemore, down 322 to Shelburne and home. Trails pretty good everywhere though snow was pretty thin in Spots on the lowlands around Creemore.
  2. We did 570 km total on Saturday/Sunday, riding between Hillsburgh, Creemore, and Shelburne on Day 1 and Hillsburgh, Mt. Forest, Ayton, Fordwich on Day 2. Trails were very good everywhere we rode. Even the roadrunning wasn't too bad. It is sad to see though that there is more and more road running every year.
  3. ZR, I can’t ride tomorrow but we have to get a ride in sometime this season. Been too long
  4. Motörhead’s 850 Doo Motor blew up in Quebec today. Maybe the turbo will fix that!!!
  5. Trail report for yesterday, from friend of mine: A trail around Cochrane either wasn’t groomed Friday night or there was so much traffic it got beat again. The A 106 to the C was a gorgeous snow highway as was the A down to Iroquois falls
  6. I"m a little puzzled as to why everyone is reacting so strongly to this post. From my perspective, CV is simply a club volunteer who trying to convey that the club is listening to the trail reports and is trying to make the trail better. Ya, maybe the wording is not perfect, but so what.
  7. Thanks Denis, there is good information which would help me plan my day of sledding. That is, if I wasn't stuck here at work all day!!
  8. That is only part of what I heard him say. We reap what we sow.
  9. I think it is very bad that the guy running Abitibi Base Camp is telling sledders to ride the red west side trail. This type of advise is what gets trails closed all over the province.
  10. IMO, It would make OC a bit more useful and relevant if guys took just a couple of minutes to post a quick Post-ride report on Route/conditions. Screw the critics
  11. On our way back south now after a good 2.5 days of riding pretty decent trails. As a general comment, it is a bit disappointing how few trail reports are posted on OC. With so many sleds in Cochrane over the past few days, surely there are more OC’ers up there who can do actual trails reports.
  12. Rode Cochrane down to Iroquois Falls and west to Timmins today. Trails were quite good. There is more snow down this way. Trails closer to Cochrane were getting a bit beat up on the way back in. K
  13. Rode to the Canyon today. Trails were certainly acceptable for early season, mostly good base. We went up/down on the east side. also rode some hills at the canyon, it was ok for flatlanders because there ain't much snow.
  14. Yep, Cochrane is full of sled. Got here this afternoon and left for a 100 km loop at 4 pm. Went south on A toward IF and then the green trail heading west. A was beat up ( not surprising) and side trail was good. Met groomer on A on the way back. Early season, only game in town, base is pretty good. Worth the trip, so far.
  15. Anyone on been riding Iriqous F to Kap area today? Any trail condition updates would be greatly appreciated
  16. Has anyone here ridden HF over the past day or two? Wondering if they have decent base? I see alot of sleds on their webcam today
  17. This seems to be a widespread problem at the moment and will result in many multi-use trails remaining closed this winter. It seems the OFSC's insurance company has requested some changes to land use agreements,. These changes are not palatable to landowners such as towns and conservation authorities. Can someone shed some light on what the issue is?
  18. No video needed. When Motorhead turns left to head for the lake, DON'T FOLLOW HIM
  19. Sorry but: i had a 2014 XR7000. Worst sled I’ve owned. Starter/idler gear let go, cost $2g. Muffler/resonator split wide open for no reason at pretty low mileage. $1G I found sled tippy because engine is heavy and mounted high in chassis. Rode it for about 8000 miles tho
  20. Rode most areas in there today. North rd and Osprey seeemed to be the barest. Trails further north were better.
  21. Did 200 km in there today. Trails mostly good. Some bare spots, some water cuts, some water. Well worth the trip, awesome.
  22. Thanks for info. Seems reasonable to make compromises to load the app faster; waiting is annoying. I’ll pull up up the website you have given when needed. Thanks.
  23. I used the OFSC ITG app on Friday/Saturday on our loop from Bonfield to Pembroke. Overall, I found the app to be very good, kudos to OFSC and certainly well worth the $4. One question; In Mattawa, I tried to zoom in to see what exact streets the trail was on thru town. It wouldn’t zoom in to show street names. Is there a way to do this? I believe the old app did show street names.
  24. We launched from the railbed at Shelburne. Took the 322 east to Honeywood (rough because not enough snow/base to groom) Then 323 west to Dundalk (much better) Then Conn trail from N of Dundalk toward Mt Forest then N to Durham (all trails in decent shape with good base) North to Berkeley, then small loop around Markdale and down to railline to trailer (all good conditions) In general, very respectable conditions for this early in the season. No mudholes, trail cuts or other nasty surprises on this route. Unfortunately, I notice more roadrunning every year (although even this wasn't a problem today because all roads had good snow cover). Thanks to all the volunteers who help to make this possible.
