  1. I agree. What's the fun of sitting in the same puddle of mud making it bigger and bigger, if no-one can get past it and actually go someplace ... ? I despise ATV's for exactly this reason. You can't go anywhere off-road around here without a Timberjack after the locals get into it with their bikes.
  2. That'll keep the GPS following truck drivers out I hope... That's a pretty major ravine. Did you say that there is a culvert there, ready to go in ?
  3. This one exactly. I have actually felt this one myself, and it's very much to my liking. I'm not much for experimenting with unknowns. By January I'll have one.
  4. You might disagree, but I'm very soon going to order myself a finger throttle kit for my 800 E-tec MXz. Once you've tried the finger throttle (Doo ITC or otherwise) you'll realize that you have much more grip on the bar and it's much easier to operate and control with the fingers, than the thumb. Also, it's more difficult to accidentally "bump" or snag the throttle in the forward position, preventing unwanted sled movement. It's happened to me. One of my customers has them on his and his sons' Summits. He says he'll never go back. It has a heater element built-in which is direct plug-and-play into the OEM connector. Sorry for the thread hijack IQ Doo ...
  5. Up here almost nobody follows the rules or laws. Force of habit, please excuse my glass half empty feelings on the subject. Same reason they groom the sled trails. Firm up the base, provide a smooth surface to ride on. Years before having a sled we had a Honda trike. I was young and naive regarding sled trails. A few of us would ride short stretches of power line trails to get from A to B. Rarely could we do so without one of us breaking through the surface, unless it had been groomed very often. By contrast, one extremely cold winter we were able to drive a 2wd Chevy pickup just about anywhere on the groomed trail and never scratch the surface. Conditions are quite variable and weather plays a significant role in the surface quality of any groomed trail.
  6. -17 last night, now -7. Beautiful day to sit around doing nothing.
  7. Someone should set up a pub right there, give us sledders a place to warm up and have a bite ... lol
  8. Yeah Basecamp just popped that up on Facebook. What a teaser ....
  9. Just need Blaise to start on his side now ...
  10. Loaded onto my S9, downloaded D13 D14 and D15 maps. Appears to be working as normal.
  11. We had -20 yesterday morning ... it's warmed up today, just below freezing ... an inch of snow fell this morning too.
  12. I just read a thing on their Facebook page about the app not being completely functional at this time for Android use. "Hi everyone, this isn't the "official" announcement but we published the Go Snowmobiling Ontario 2019-20 app this morning at 9:07am and it is now available in Apple Stores but has been selected for a "random review" in Android Store which is what is causing the delay. We will officially announce as soon as we have it live in both stores. Thank you for your patience!!!" Asked and Answered.
  13. I see our groomer went out this morning, drag in tow ... not sure which way and how much they'll be doing.
  14. I doubt that I'll ever have anything to do with that part of it. My role is basically gruntwork .. brushing and signage. The folks at the Hornepayne club will be dealing with what's open and what's not.
  15. Oh my apologies, I thought it was a head office deal... I sit corrected.
  16. Blame that on the fact that its the weekend. Nobody working in the Barrie office to flip the switch. I've been checking every hour too .. lol Apparently we have 15 or 17 kms available but I couldn't find it.
  17. As much as an on duty OPP. Same as game wardens. This is from a game warden.
  18. If it's Crown land, who does it bother? I've been brushing and clearing the section of trail I did today, for several years. Today was the first time as an official club volunteer. Is there any difference? Its crown land so No. Anyone and their dog can ride them (in fact 2 sleds with 3 hunters were on the trails today, and 2 weeks ago too). Hydro may have a different perspective on the subject, but anywhere else is free pass.
  19. Same as in Hearst. Cool start for outdoor work today...
  20. Not yet at 7am ... I'm surprised our local club hasn't turned green yet ... after all, they've been out packing for 2 days now ...
  21. Looking nice Blake. So your mileage this season is... ?
