  1. Was that pic really taken today? The quality of the photo looks like it was taken with a potato.
  2. Those EB 97 XC700s were crazy fast. The 98 full productions worked really good but the 97 would smoke them.
  3. The cold weather is a good thing right now to get the swamps and creeks frozen tight. Nothing is worse than 2 ft of snow on top of wet swamps/creeks. There still is lots of time for it to snow. A couple of good dumps and they will be posting yellow trails by Boxing Day.
  4. You are probably right, but the guys in Cochrane are saying that they desperately need snow. They are a LONG way from opening anything up. At least they are getting cold weather to freeze things up.
  5. Yes Expensive. Probably $5/L based on previous years.
  6. Premium pricing is all over the place. I came into Tavistock a few weeks ago and needed fuel in my C8. I pulled up to the pump and saw it was $2.09/L and the gas buddy app told me that 91 was $1.75 in Stratford. Unfortunately, I NEEDED fuel and made sure that I put 10L in it and walked in and told the Manager I would have filled it if he wasnt so crazy on the premium price.
  7. Whats that supposed to mean? Its a lot easier to change it now than it is to lose valuable time/money on a trip because your sock is plugged. My dealer is changing it on all 900 Turbos if they are in for a pre-season and have over 6000kms on the original one.
  8. If I had a 900 Turbo with 5000kms + on it I would be doing the fuel sock as preventative maintenance.

    Permits

If I could only ride from home, I wouldnt have a sled. We are lucky to get 1 or 2 weekends a season where our trails are open. Its actually easier for me to just book 3 long weekends off on my calendar and go than it is for me to take a random Sunday and go for a ride. That being said, by me not buying a permit pretty much guaranteed awesome trails in Perth County this winter.

    Permits

For the 1st time in pretty much forever, I did not order a permit. Thats not to say that I wont at some point, but I am planning on riding in Quebec as much as possible this year. I may just roll the dice and pay the $80 more mid Jan if it looks like can ride locally.
  11. FXR has been posting on their own Social Media sites that there are several fake stores advertising huge discounts and to be forewarned not to buy from them.
  12. My Desjardins Rep called me today and asked if I was renewing. I told her I didnt have my new sled but gave her the details. Quote came back the same as last year. No change in price.
  13. I went tonight by myself. Havent been there since 2019. Seemed ok. Bought a few things. For some reason, I remembered it as being bigger? Bumped into a few guys who I havent seen in years.

    Permits

I will be the last minute guy if I buy one at all.
  15. That can happen for sure but 95% of the time, a full Linq can will get you from Chapleau to Wawa. That being said, the last time I did this run we were pushing a ton of snow from Chapleau until the trail headed north to Wawa. Then it was bumpy AF. Truthfully, not a ride I am just rushing to do again.
  16. I think the advent of Linq cans probably put a big of a damper on the place as anything. If you can carry 10L of fuel on your sled you dont NEED to stop there for fuel. Same thing is happening to BC Abitibi.
  17. I assume that HH is on leased land? They probably dont "own" the ground that it is on. Sadly, that place will just fall apart with no one using it. An empty building deteriorates fast. Between the bears and the redneck locals breaking into it, I think we will never see it open again. I was actually there the last day it was officially open.
  18. That’s the only way that this motel has any chance of surviving. Unfortunately it also means that the average sledder will have a slim to zero chance of getting a room there as it will be booked solid with workers year round. Try to get a room at The Magpie and you will know what I mean.
  19. TD refused to insure me because I had too many not at fault claims in 3 years. 1 was a not at fault accident where I was rear ended and 2 were windshields FFS!!! I will NEVER use them for anything out of principal.

    Permits

Thats huge BUT I think I would rather pay $150 more for my permit and not rely on volunteers as much. The volunteers get burnt out and are hard to replace.
  21. I rarely use a paper map anymore EXCEPT around Mont Laurier. There are so many local trails that I cannot blow up my GPS screen far enough to see where i actually am and where I am going. I do always carry the paper maps with me when we are in Quebec just so I can point out to my crew where we are going in the event we get seperated.
  22. I paid $700 for my 23 Renegade 850 XRS with full coverage last year thru Desjardins. I am 51 yrs old and live in rural Ontario. No tickets but unfortunately 2 not at fault claims in the last 3 years. I refuse to give any money to TD Insurance.
