-10 in RDL right now with 30 to 40cm in the forecast for the next few days!
  4. Most times, when my trailer is parked at home, I have it so it is tilted forward as much as possible and the snow tends to slide off the top, down the front and makes nices piles of snow beside the tongue that I need to shovel away...... Alternately, since I do not store sled inside of trailer, I lift tongue in the air until the rear of trailer touches the ground and all snow slides off the back. My trailer is a TC118 so I can tilt/lift my trailer by hand like this. If I am away and this happens while parked, I try to get what I can off with snow brush and the rest usually comes off as I drive down the first few km of road.
  5. Sludge in engines these days, and for some time now, are a huge issue, that is caused by a lack of routine oil maintanence and engines that run much hotter than they did in the past. Manufactures have these built in gauges that tells you when to change, these are not geared towards engine longevity, they are built based on using less oil for our enviromentalist groups and of course by the time a failure occures, warranty is usually long gone. But yes, to each their own, you do you and I'll do me sort of thing, no issues really, just practices that people use based on thier own beliefs/routines.

The rain line is slowly moving north as the night goes on....seems to stop right around Dorset closer to midnight. So if you are on the east side of the line, you have snow, west side is rain...... See what tomorrow looks like.

Those are/were the crazy days - takes a long time to go a short distance and the bigger the group, the longer it takes!
  8. LOL - might be somthing to that...... I still aint using their recommended oil change interval if I had one!

Keeping the sport alive - good job!!! It will get used, just when and for how long is TBD....
  10. LOL - nothing worse than having a shower and putting on dirty underwear or better yet, putting on a clean pair of pants while still wearing a shitty diaper.......lol
  11. Curious, if you had a warranty claim, how did Yamaha handle them? I ask because I recall people always stating they were the worst for dealing with warranty stuff, but of course you know you only hear the bad on the interwebs and sometimes there is more to the story than meets the eye.
  12. I was thinking the exact same - that is nuts and who would do that, but than again some also reuse old filters too to save a buck or two and a few minutes.....LOL! My truck with full synthetic is 10K, before the gauge tells me too. I would never leave old oil in my sled after the winter whether it be engine oil or chain case......although I did always leave my 2-stroke oil in the canister and never changes that......

So this is the now....little less rain for today and a little more snow, if correct.... Wed is about the same as before.....hoping the long range stays close or near the course, colder each day and some snow each day too, not a ton of snow, so good and bad I guess depending how you look at that.
  14. I have not been overly motivated to work on the sled with the slow start, but other than waiting for a few more pieces/kit to arrive and be installed, most is done….hoping last pieces come in this week so all can be buttoned up and ready for some trails. - Trailer guides installed/replaced - Fuel tank sock and filter replaced and tank cleaned - Primary clutch serviced, cleaned sheaves and replaced belt - Sliders replaced - skid shocks both rebuilt and inspected skid/idler wheels, all good - Limiter strap adjuster installed - found broken bolt on toe hold so replaced that - replaced comfort seat with a used/new to me seat With the lack of activity around here as of late, figured I’d update with something sledding related…other than the crazy weather.

The system clearly will be border line, just need to determine where the rain/snow line will be…..perhaps 118, hopefully south of that, we’ll see.

Yes, Dorset area has always had its own little eco system bubble, just like some parts of the forest. Some trails are forgiving not needing a ton of snow, others not so much, and not a lot of roads to run….plus TP and ASC do a great job!

Predicting the future by the sounds of it....lol. Last year was a good one than for you, even with the crappy start we had - hopeing this year is just as good then! I have found the PS area the last while to be rough with all the canadian shield there and not enough snow to cover up all that rock as of late.....they need a good amount of snow. Late start in the not so normal areas for sure that you can normally count on.
  21. Do you think there will be lots of long track sleds out and about or not really due to early season riding and possibly lack of off trail snow depth? When we rode the area it was crazy how the trail from one day went from smooth to super bumped out, but we saw the groomer both days too....second day we just had bad timing.....
  22. Are you there now or were you there? I thought you mentioned you were going.....or maybe that was someone else.
  23. We stayed there, good place with fuel, food, drinks and lodging! I would recommend it as well.

LOL - pestimist. Start late and finish late.....if you are willing to go to where the snow is. I remember last year one of the guys on here from Kenisis lake area had many ride reports in and around the Dorset area when many were done for the year (cannot recall his name right now).....and Dorset is not that far! Might be a great year for the lakes, who knows.

So why is that a few weeks ago when it was around 0 degrees it out, it sure felt colder on my body - today at what looks like -7 out, but I think the "feel like" is much colder, does not feel as cold.... I was a bit concerned earlier on and thought I might have to consider something else for clothing to keep my butt warmer....lol Anyways, it is a much more crisp chilly morning outside for a change!
