  1. Where do you expect to be riding ? In the tropics of North Bay and warmer, or in the manly cold of the NCDN and parts east and west of that ? (-30C territory)
  2. In case one of you guys can't get your Turbo, I have a 2001 Thundercat in excellent condition that I may be convinced to part with for the right price. That ought to fulfil your need for speed.
  3. Trailered up to Timmins from rainy Suds three winters ago. Snow storm on the last half. I thought it was good road compared to the goat path it used to be. Happy for the snow too.
  4. I got all of 475 Km on my pass before the kidney stones hit. It was over in the wink of an eye.
  5. I would put one of those primers on all my old Cats. The primer would start it with one or two pulls and the so called choke would keep it running.
  6. This 0% interest topic is interesting. When I bought my Sonata, I got a monthly payment out the door at their 0% financing for 3 years. Then when calculated for a cash sale and bank financed for 3 years at 2.9% financing, the monthly payment was less and the cost of fimancing was less. If you thing you are paying nothing for 0% financing you are crazy. Needless to say, I used the bank financing.
  7. The keys won't be of any use to you when the DESS post fails. A key is so much simpler.
  8. Make sure the vents have fine screen or the trailer will be home to 10,000 flys when you go to get the sleds out the first time.
  9. In Ontario you can now wear a turban instead of a helmet. Kinda like a soft helmet.
  10. Where do you see a Yamaha. I only see Ski-Doo side panels and spindles.
  11. That dealer of yours must not have given you the owners manual either. It tells you in there how to go from Imperial to Metric, how to display the tach and speedo on the side you want, how to display the temp number in the bar graph, etc. Its a good read. I have had to instruct many out there how to do it.
  12. Internet police my a$$. If you stay in Cochrane, there are only 2 or maybe 3 places to stay. The police station is right across the road from JR's. Going either way out of town, they are going by the motels. When they see a rig parked there, it's like shooting fish in a barrel. They run the plate on the truck and/or trailer and see you live south of the French River and you are caught. What is the fine for this now ?
  13. I don't see how traveling from Mitchell to Cochrane meets the lock down rules for NOT traveling from area to area. If you do this, then you are no better than the idiots in the GTA that go to each others houses and party etc. Although your intentions are good, you are breaking the rules like it or not. Locals in Cochrane could and should report you.
  14. Ford is a business man. Its all about letting the public spend as much money as possible before Christmas. If he really cared we would be locked down now.
  15. What do you call upside down ? Cat mounts the shocks both ways depending on the shock. Old ZL machines without Fox shocks were mounted with the rod up, body down. My XF7000 LXR 2015 is that way too. Old ZR's with Fox shocks have the body up and rod down. The remote resevour Fox shocks had the resevour clamped to the top of the wheel house with a gear clamp. The Fox shocks only fit this way. Most new sleds with adjustable piggyback resevours mount body up for clearance. It does not matter for the shock action. Just mounting clearance. IMO rod down reduces unsprung weight. But the rod is more subject to being peppered with trail crap making a rough rod and oil leakage.
  16. I did it with my 2001 Thundercat in 2009.
  17. I always buy a case of 24 cans when the store puts it on sale for 49 or 50 cents a can. Makes for a good weekend lunch. Wrong brand of sled.
  18. As long as you don't count the 2-stroke sled riders with excessive "Flick Finger" continually coming and going until midnight. I do not understand why these guys just can't use a little throttle and go. Must have something to do with their boner from being there.
  19. The short hoses are a bit of a challenge to gas up my Monte Carlo. I have had some young people tell me they had never seen the gas fill behind the rear plate.
  20. When used with a hose down the pant leg, I believe they are called a "Sneaky Leaker".
  21. So what is causing this ? Some still like to deny it is happening but we have Ohio weather here now. It sure as hell was not like this in the 60's. You know there are trails around Strathroy that must have been made in the late 60's - early 70's. When was the last time anyone rode those trails ? It has to be COLD to keep snow and I have not seen a lot of that lately.
  22. The moisture getting inside freezes the moving armature that tilts the contacts. Buy new relays from Mouser but get the -S- instead of more crappy -C- relays. This should fix the problem. Polaris has these sealed relays for their sleds for a very high price.
  23. I don't think you will get the sand and pebbles out. It will build up in the triangles and work its way under the lattice. Now you have crap to hold moisture. Like a traction mat, but all over.
