  1. https://snowgoer.com/press-releases/big-changes-atop-polaris-arctic-cat-snow-teams/29483/?oly_enc_id=3570I5128245I2X A guy from General Mills? Reminds me of GM Corp' hiring John F Smith from P&G back in the 90s...
  2. Notice I said, 'asking', nobody that knows what's up would pay that. They obviously are looking for rubes that will. I think the opinion is common that a lot of toys (including cottages) will be on the market in a year or so.
  3. It wasn't for sale, but considering the ads last winter for beater sleds & what people were 'asking', his quad would go pretty quick.
  4. I was talking to a guy on the weekend who had a 2016 Sportsman quad. The thing was mint! I'm sure he could probably get the retail price for it.
  5. I did that for a cottager so he could move his boat & trailer around his yard & into his garage for the winter.
  6. Does it have a tarp top (not sure of the terminology)? May be difficult for a back haul for that kind of trailer in what I see hauling shavings.
  7. http://glenislefarms.com/about-us.html They're out of Keene & haul from the mills north of here. Not sure how far they'd haul to.
  8. I'm glad we got the bridge repairs done last year (lumber bought before the prices went thru the roof.
  9. More expensive than a load of new pickups on a car hauler?
  10. That's one thing I won't fab is trailer hitch parts for on road vehicles. ATVs or SxSs sure. My neighbour from hell asked me if I could repair his trailer. I said nope, no ticket or insurance. The trailer should've been hauled directly to Cedardale Scrap. Someone had fabbed it out of muffler tubing & the welded corner were the A frame met the square was pretty much rusted half away.
  11. And again, this time south of Gogama @soupkids @Evil You 2 better head up there!
  12. I ran it in the 90s when friends lived in Timmins. Pavement was in great shape. Fast forward to a few years ago coming back during a camping loop towing my Rockwood. 101 to 144 & 144 pretty much to Cartier was in terrible shape. The last couple of times I've been to Halfway Lake they had been milling & paving.
  13. Before I saw them around here (a recent development) I'd see them on 69 south of Sudsbury.
  14. I was thinking the same, the undersides look kind of grimy.
  15. 144 strikes again! Apparently just south of 101
  16. Have you heard who Tobler & Sons hauls to? See their trucks thru all the time. I'm assuming they're getting shavings from the mills in Bancroft, Whitney & possibly Madawaska. Something to look into.
  17. My friend did say though that some companies have been quick to adopt the trailer skirting. He says they aren't cheap. I guess it all depends on the loads as well. A truck pulling a dry van of packages (lighter) would likely be more conducive to saving fuel than 1 maxxed out with a load or plywood.
  18. I think the fact that they AREN'T commonplace, proves their ineffectiveness. If they worked, the fleets would have embraced them a few years ago.
  19. @Gadgetman My friend said you could put x number of drivers in identical rig/trailer combinations & the mileage results would be all over the place. He said the big thing in helping mileage is reducing the turbulence between the tractor & the trailer (hence the cab extensions). Long wheel base 'large cars' might look cool, but if pulling a dry van, it really hurts the mileage.
  20. Just got off the phone with my trucker friend. He said the company he drives for (large Canadian transport company) had 20 or so trucks delivered new with the tabs attached. That was several years ago. For whatever reason subsequent orders haven't included the tabs. LOL on the wings on a sled trailer.
  21. We have seen them on the odd trailer. I've messaged a trucker friend about them. We have discussed them after seeing them on the trailers in the past. I have seen them on the 'cab extensions' on the tractors, but not much on trailers. I think these: But then again they're more noticeable. I think some Subaru models have them at the rear edge of their roof as well.
  22. I think if you drive to the conditions, any driver is good to go.
  23. I think I the 70s you needed a permit for it. Is there not another EB Eddy road (private) that runs south down to Nairn Centre?
  24. https://www.facebook.com/groups/392421867491316 (Sultan Road Updates) An old neighbour had posted a video of her son on a fishing trip in the Wawa area last year, they used the Sultan Road. I asked her about the road & she mentioned the Faceplant page. I checked it out & it sounds like it was a mess when the frost was coming out of the road. Not sure if the truckers on it use CBs to call out the mileage, but I have seen it on some roads in my travels. I was driving on 560 back in the 90s & saw a sign (in French) I did pick out CH #12 (or something other than 19). I turned mine on and later I did hear some chatter in French. A minute or 2 later I did meet an eastbound truck.
  25. I phoned about a compressor on Fri' & the shop in Ptbo has 2 models that are service shop sized & would need a lift truck to unload...
