  1. It seems that the forum has a minimum # of characters necessary to "search". For example, 3 letters, i.e. "RAP", yields no results ( for me ). It must be more than 3 letters. I'll raise this with the suits - " folks who can fix or explain" - tonight :). If you type the longer term " RAP Tour" you'll find it. More characters are required - not the STG type of characters . The expanded search yields many " tour" matches ( RAP and tour ) - but lots of info on RAP. Let me know if the above works. Two quick results, in links, below - there were many matches. I've done it 3 x, great memories. My takeaway - " edge " of civilization trip. Not as remote or isolated as I first thought. Civilization abounds " around" the park. A great feeling when running it with 20 year old son ( safe ). Or, when a team member's sled breaks. Also, from reading the posts, trail conditions make or break the tour. " Evil" wrote a tale of two RAPS, years ago. One great, one less so ( weather resulted in snirt - ...there are a few roads on this trip ). Joyous when snow covered. Less so when you're shooting up sparks. And it's a circle....you have to keep going. Know the trail conditions and the weather ahead. Rain would " suck " on this trip. I say this because I've often sledded in rain in North Bay... either returning from new Liskeard or local staging ( March ). Never on THE RAP. A couple of links from " RAP Tour " search: https://ontarioconditions.com/forums/index.php?/topic/20752-rap-tour-next-week-225-2-28/ https://ontarioconditions.com/forums/index.php?/topic/20785-rap-tour-2020/&tab=comments#comment-304147 Happy trails.
  2. Is that trailer your working on ...insulated?
  3. Enjoy! Goes well with a Flying Monkey beer
  4. Welcome aboard, 800. Read the comments above to get a feel for the 4 day itinerary., There are more current threads on the RAP than this 2016 topic you joined. It can be done ( enjoyably ) in 4 days. Happy trails.
  5. Welcome aboard. Thanks for the update.
  6. YouTube is now " recommending " clips to me ( Polaris? Does it know something I dont?). I watched the beginning - will cast it toTV tonight and watch the rest. Thought it would be with sharing.
  7. Merry Christmas to all. Happy trails in 2021.
  8. Agreed. You must have first hand experience with issues created by off trail riders. And good points re: costs associated with sledding I no longer read the magazine so not sure what they're writing about nowadays .Getting away from actual trail reporting had a lot to do with that. As a landowner ( trail since rerouted) granting permission over farmland, their boondoggle pics gave pause. Its like a cross country ski club promoting snowmobile use on its trails. Thanks for your land, enjoy the pics. I could have sent in those pics. From a river bed, with steep slopes, in Midland. " Nice air". " Nice landing ". But the trail ( was ) over there. During Covid, we " stay in our lanes ". This group gets it, because we've spent seasons " in our lane ". If we could convey that to new riders, aggressive riders - we'd be further ahead.
  9. Talking to family and friends in the Innisfil, Midland and Orillia areas - they're shocked to be lumped in with the Toronto morass. I'll bet the northern lakes are lit up like Canada Day long weekend.
  10. I spoke to a friend who skied in BC. From start to finish: 1. Change outside ( shoes to ski boots, leave shoes in car) 2. There's only cafeteria style food service open ( a lot like a checkout line at store or, I suppose, Costco cafeteria, which I'm told never closed- line up, order, takeout only ) 3. Bathrooms are open. 4. Ride the lift with your partner..if it seats 6 then 2 go up. If it's 4 width, 2 go up. He was with a buddy, don't know the rules on family or groups of 3 or 4. Hey Blake, with southern Ontario ski hills closed and all that snow on them ..... ( kidding!)
  11. No, no, no....it won't be extended. The 72 hour rule solves everything. "Canada will stop incoming flights from the U.K. for 72 hours to prevent the spread of a new coronavirus strain, according to a statement from Health Canada."
  12. I get what you're asking saying PLC. I wonder if the author wasn't trying to promote snowmobiling by referencing the feeling you get when you exit a forest of trees into a large open field. Like when you hit the blue skies and snow covered fields around Earlton. Or the Elmvale area ( examples, my favourites). There's also a stretch west of gravenhurst, Brackenridge, Huntsville, Port Sydney. You leave the trees and " wow". Farming. Who knew that pocket exists near the Canadian shield.
  13. Great picture to choose for 50 years of memories
  14. Yes - vivid recollection of that breakfast.
  15. Recommended- Westway ( our regular stop) or Thriftlodge ( many on this forum like it, see above) . At Westway, they care - rooms are clean, halls are clean, upkeep is very good. Tim Hortons is close for breakfast, JRs ribs is walking distance ( or drive ). Your son will enjoy the ribs and fries. Lots of parking. Short road ride, usually snow covered, to the trail. Not recommended - NOI. We had a group ride out of North Adventure Inn. Accomodations were iffy ( not clean ). Too far from town IMO.

    Timmins

Great news. It's gonna happen. Four months of snowmobiling! ( the Thunder Bay, bah humbug, has to end ).
  17. Great lake effect story. Thanks.
  18. Son's restoring a '74 Chevy Nova SS with that flip down license plate, fuel cap access. Brings back memories.
  19. That's where we brought ours. Knowledgeable, fair prices.
  20. I've been saying that since hurricane Katrina( 2005) . First time I've heard anyone else say " Ontario has Ohio weather". Thanks, BP. Why? Because wind's come up from the south. We're getting Ohio Valley weather. It is what it is. Definitely warmer. No more 9 ' plowed snowbanks just north of Barrie.
  21. It begs the question - why provide a 'fuel' door? (thanks PLC and Signfan)
