I can start off funny, since this was reportedl yesterday, but hopefully some of you can share good ideas for trailers or pick-up towing. I've left my Triton ' basic', but always wonder if helmet storage, etc worth it ( cold on arrival ?). Nov 2, 2020 Wisconsin "State police in Wisconsin pulled over a car that officials said was transporting (can’t say towing) a snowmobile strapped to the roof of their Toyota Corolla. Some of the responses from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation Facebook post put their own spin on the situation. One said, “Mighta been easier to put the corolla on the sled n drive the sled home ... ” Another said, “A++ for creativity! Those Corollas have a lot more cargo space than many people think!!”

Are we still talking snowmobiles?

Poking around the internet for a 900 Ace based Ski-Doo. I will no longer read gas threads LOL. One tank, good for the day. Sorry to hear about that country store no longer selling fuel (if that's the case). These closures won't bode well. Guys visiting us (Six Mile Lake) always freak out when coming from the north. Bala's tough to find fuel, many limp into bala with yellow warning light on for many kms. Don't know how they do it. Barrie - Orillia based riders. I've also led groups thru shortcuts from the north, for fuel in Port Severn, late at night when I see them stranded, maps out. Note to self - will 'covid' change gas station hours?

That's fantastic news for the northern communities. Employment, rising house prices (especially for those that own - opportunities to sell and buy in the same market). [shameless plug for son, who's becoming a mortgage broker - need to look into oc.com advertising opportunities]. Sledders are 'incidental' to the above, and I'm glad. We'll find accommodations - if not traditional hotels, vrbo (vacation rentals) or airbnb. Supply and demand work out, if left alone. For example, 'no hockey tournaments' in some towns (decrease in demand) - more rooms should be available. On the supply side, maybe new hotel operators and restaurants will set up in these communities. Glad that there's northern Ontario development. Can't wait to see it.

Sorry, bud. My confusion was your absolute faith in your wife towing you the last few klicks. Married how many years? -

I switched from Yamaha to Arctic Cat. Buddy and I had bad morning with 2 Vipers not starting in minus 25. He kept his. I switched to Arctic Cat. As I mentioned in a prior thread - I can accept a 'one off', non starting sled. But they both had the exact same starting pattern. Then non-starting pattern. If there were 10 Yamaha Vipers in a row that morning, all 10 would've had to be towed home from Marie's Post 392 lodging near Timmins. Haven't tattooed 'Arctic Cat' on my butt because range on the Suzuki based engine (which is very smooth running) - is limited. Luc had to carry gas for me on Longlac trip. I wish Yamaha was still in the market - not just selling a variety of AC based Vipers and Sidewinders. And now Arctic Cat's having some legal issue with Ski-Doo's frame patents. Rode a few Ski-doos over the years. Need to see what's out there now. 900 Ace is the one to watch. We haven't ridden together in years, but If memory serves, Slomo's on one - Nicely set up and I've heard great things about that engine. Enjoy reading about Nunz' Polaris fever, Sledjunk's mileage accumulating Yamahas and Turbo Doo's 'whiplash' inducing new ride(s). -

During morning coffee with Ms. Canuck, she mentioned " there's always drive thru". I'm not so sure ( why would I try, in the past?). I've seen Honda Gold wing cruisers in summer window line-ups, so maybe. ... Can we use drive through windows at McDonald's, Tim Hortons if restrictions come back? I recall drive thru being open - but doors to restaurant itself closed. Like many, I'm packing lunch this year. Often have in the past ( fav was Ukrainian kobasssa and rye bread on the new trail west of Hearst towards Longlac...with Groomer Guy and friends) Buying a hot coffee at McDs would be nice ( not all of us have LINQ luggage racks for" thermos', Slomo ) -
Go WEST, young man.

"Taking daily dose of vitamin D before getting covid is a good idea" Thanks SuperG and Slomo. We heard about this a while ago. Taking it daily.

Canadian Court: Arctic Cat Can’t Deliver 2021 Pre-Ordered Sleds
Canuck replied to Sledguy74's topic in Main Clubhouse
Never spring ordered an Arctic Cat. Current AC's we own are "new in box", but older inventory. Actually see myself spring ordering next year. Trade these 2 in at year’s end. Or even swap out this year, if the opportunity arises. -

That's surprising. -
Way to go.

That's great news. Thanks for sharing.

It doesn't survive McDonald's food. Blake's onto something

I like the plastic bag idea for helmets. What's the range on a ski_doo Ace? No need to stop at gas stations, according to the old ads:) Asking for a friend.

Option 3. Nice sled colour, btw. I'm starting to notice ( like? ) Ski-doos. What's that Star Wars term? Resistance is futile.

new best western hotel - parry sound for early 2021
Canuck replied to slomo's topic in Food & Lodging
If you recall the blasting for the Petro Canada in Port Severn - it's either 'less costly' than we think (unlikely) or there's money in gas stations, hotels. Port Severn went on for months. Seemed like empty, flat land in the area. They chose to blast. Busy Tim horton's, etc. - good for them. -

I'm getting used to driving to these towns, unloading trail side, sledding for the day, loading and heading to hotel for night 1. Wake up, drive to same trailhead or one half hour away for variety. Ride, reload, back to hotel. Sudbury's an example ( tho usually drive up in evening, leave sleds on trailer, ride to STP yard in am, trailer back to hotel). Shake, stir, repeat. Can't fight development, trail closures, goat path ' spur line' grooming. In Parry sound, our preferred hotel was actually at the north end. Canada's Value Inn. Since buying cottage south of PS, no need for hotel ( tho boating, stayed at this hotel on a cold fall trip a few years ago. Kids swam, we had a bonfire behind. Nice memory. North to Britt and Killarney after that, similar lodgings...Marina in Britt- hotel and Sportsmans, Killarney). Plan for trails - make bridge ramps wider - it's been done, with success. If not, trailer. -
Aubrey Falls / Black Creek Outfitters - 2020-2021 - Season

X2. Many fond memories of riding up from Elliot Lake with the kids ( teenagers). -
It's one of the reasons that a map ( guide) enclosure would be nice. If permits aren't being mailed until mid October, provide a map option. At the low permit price - pay for the map. Years ago, when I ordered from d'ville, Kap, etc. ( ran 4 sleds) - it was nice to receive the various mailings. Each included a map. Some a newsletter. So did our Quebec purchases.
-
As well. One of the permits, anyways.

I remember his posts - one of the best oc.com contributors to date. His reports drew me to the Carnarvon area to ride. 'Fred Quimby', producer.

Thanks for the info, T-D. Nice folks in there - always a smile and great food. Glad that they're looking after themselves.
