  1. Yes it renewed on mine on Friday and then I started having trouble I just removed it and downloaded again and now is working
  2. Ok thanks for the tips. I removed the app and downloaded and is now working….thanks everyone! When in doubt…reboot! I should have tried that first! 😎
  3. 😞 I wonder why it is doing this? It was fine two days ago
  4. Ok..is it just me? What the @#%& is going on with the OFSC map? I have tried it on my iPhone, iPad and desktop and this is happening…trying to zoom in and all blurry. I paid the $3.99 for the “pro” on my phone, but is the same. If I try to zoom in it is super blurry,I can’t see the trail #’s. Is anyone else having issues? Maybe this was posted before and I missed it? Frustrated! Why should I have to pay to see this map on my desktop! ? Isn’t it included with the price of my permit? It should be standard! 😡
  5. Annnd there’s more! This posted on Facebook There you have it! All ADSC trails are open on a limited basis. Our groomer operators have been working around the clock to get the trails ready. The damage caused by the sxs’s and atv’s in the Dufferin forest has been repaired this morning and the trail is looking great. Although we did get a lot of snow from the storm this week there are still some sections of trail that are still a little rough so please ride with caution. I would also like to thank everyone for staying off the trails until they were opened, our groomer operators reported that there was very few snowmobile tracks, this helps so much in setting up a good base and letting us open sooner. Hope everyone gets a chance to get out and enjoy the trails!
  6. Yes - there is snow on the bay....but not sure about safety from HH to Beausoleil. Hopped on Hoggs Bay yesterday but didn't venture out further than that. I know the ice breaker was into Midland January 11 I think just over a week ago - so could be a big dicey over that way.
  7. Definitely all they need is a good dump of snow to open. Snow dancing daily!
  8. You betcha! At least a little adrenaline rush…even if it was only a short ride…at least it was a RIDE without having to drive to Cochrane 😃
  9. We are expecting some snow squalls with this cold front moving in….I would think so. I am fairly certain there will be more trails opening as well….I saw the Snow Voyagers packing their trails as well.
  10. So glad we are starting to see some Yellow in Southern Ontario. I am privileged to be able to ride from home in two places usually. I live in Kearney as well as have a place in Victoria Harbour 50/50 - and usually one of those two places is one of the first to open south of Cochrane! This year it happens to be in the latter - so - with the Orillia Club and Georgian Bay clubs working so hard to get things open - Hats off to them for all the great work they have done to be ready as quickly as they were this week.....- we FINALLY saw some Yellow on the trails today! GIDDY UP! Mr. Giddy got to check out his new ride - which he is impressed with btw...and I got to check out my new Oxygen Helmet - in love! Not many kms - but enough to take the itch off! Vic Harbour to Orillia and back. Only 100kms...but .....better than the 0 kms we have done so far this season! The trail had been freshly groomed looks like yesterday - with a nice couple of inches of fresh snow on top to make it a sweet ride! We started out and I would say on par with 9/10 most of the way - especially for early season riding! We jumped on Hoggs Bay at Victoria Harbour over to the "Hole in the Wall" and onto C towards Coldwater then onto the "Utoff trail rail bed" or C106B all the way to Lake Couchiching! The ride back was starting to warm up and after Coldwater getting soft and corners were getting bared off....parts of C trail after Wab towards Midland were getting bare and there is a HUGE open water slush hole to get onto Hoggs Bay from the Hole in the Wall to get back to the Harbour on our return. No pic of big water/slush hole as my thumb was on the throttle - sorry...LOL So we did a bit of "puddle jumping" I guess....(although it is fairly shallow there anyway - but sure didn't want to end up in the drink on our first trip out this season - not a good start)! 😁 We definitely could use more snow, even after the good dumping that we got the other day!. Just keep snow dancing folks ! I think you will see more Yellow trails later in the week - not to be confused with "yellow snow" Ride safe!
  11. DESS no DESS. Key ...No Key.... If there is motive and opportunity - they will steal it regardless. They steal sleds in broad daylight out of people's front yards for years even BEFORE the DESS key. It really doesn't matter - thieves are thieves and they gonna steal! The best course of defense is to have an alternative deterrent. I would hope that any smart owner of a '22 doo would be wise enough to either get the post lock - or - an alternative lock if they don't have that. Anyone of my friends that have them have already thought of this. We always have a second security measure as a deterrent to steal our sleds - (maybe because Mr. Giddy is a retired cop...lol ..he is so anal about it). So - with or without the DESS it is a bit more difficult for them to get them.
  12. I think it has always been an issue, particularly the last couple of years with lack of inventory and costs of new and used sleds. 😔
  13. Saw this on another sledding group on FB and thought I would get the word out here as well I hope he finds it “ #snowmobile #stolen Hey everyone! My sled was stolen early this morning just outside of Stratford towards Shakespeare. If anyone has any information or sees anything on the trails, please let me know. It’s a 2016 Ski-Doo MXZ X-RS 800 with a licence plate of 3AK734 as shown in the photos. Any leads or help would be appreciated, happy sledding!
  14. Agreed. In the beginning, after Bill sold it, it looked promising, but have seen it now becoming more like a "rodeo show" up there.
  15. Agreed. I don't think we went up there last time either for that same reason actually. Shame
  16. Agreed! You will see many more areas open up in the south now - will take some wind out of their sails when the numbers start to drop up there - at least for now. They had a good start to the season up there ... basically the only show in town.....now they are crapping in their own backyard. As the saying goes "don't bite the hand that feeds you". The ranting and bashing going on on their FB page is juvenile at best - and I for one sure won't be making the trip up to support them - especially not riding closed trails. RESPECT needs to be shown to the Snowmobile clubs. Both clubs work so very hard to get things ready to open and stay open! Hats off to them and thank you for all the hard work so that we have the best trails to ride when we are up there. That is why we drive for 7 hours to get there every year - there are more trails to ride than just doing the Canyon loop FYI....as it seems that is all some people seem to think they can do for whatever the reason (albeit it is definitely one day usually out of our trip - but not the reason we go as so many others allude to) When we first started heading to Cochrane over 20 years ago now, there was no "loop"...the ONLY side open was the east side...It was 154kms? or so each way....No warm up shack just past the tracks (that is relatively new) and once you got to Base Camp it was a warm Oasis for a cup of hot chocolate, a boiled wiener on a bun and a chocolate bar! Gas was approx $2.00/litre back then and that was what we considered expensive - but - you had no choice. Sleds were not as fuel efficient as they are now...we carried some gas - but not enough to do the entire trip - so we always topped up our tanks and supported Base Camp - it wasn't fancy, but it was a warm welcome. Now - they seem to think they are entitled in some way? IDK....but that is the impression I am getting. There is no good done when they are bashing the very clubs that "feed" them their customers. Posting and encouraging riders to come up when the tails are clearly closed shows no respect. Posting pics of no social distancing and drinking alcohol without a license does not promote good business practices either When the club posts a closed trail it isn't because they "want" to do it - it is because the need to do it for whatever the reasons are it shouldn't matter - it is closed THE END. Whether it has to do with land use permits or out of safety...CLOSED IS CLOSED and nobody in this sport should be encouraging others to ride on those closed trails PERIOD! I have always supported Base Camp every year we go to Cochrane - but - sorry....our group will not be making that trip to the canyon this year. Glad I have "been there and done that" for many years..... it is a sad situation. for sure. Rant over - just my 2 cents
  17. If it was on the lake how did she end up in the trees? So sad indeed. My condolences to family and friends - such a tragedy 😢
  18. Always so sad when we start to see these kinds of posts 😢 https://barrie.ctvnews.ca/fatal-snowmobile-crash-in-georgian-bay-township-1.5742239?cid=sm%3Atrueanthem%3Actvbarrie%3Apost&utm_campaign=trueAnthem%3A+Trending+Content&utm_medium=trueAnthem&utm_source=facebook&fbclid=IwAR35Riak6ltgfmzB1KIHlu4xx-lTp0wNurlU5Akyh-ElrhdUMFO-QiIJ5NU

  21. Looks like Santa will be bringing a very welcome Christmas Present starting tonight and into tomorrow! Giddy Up! https://instantweather.ca/articles/2021/12/23/impactful-christmas-winter-storm-to-deliver-up-to-10-20cm-of-snow-or-prolonged-freezing-rain-to-northern-ontario-between-friday-and-saturday
  22. Stayed there with our group a few years ago on our way to Hearst from the Soo. We stayed in the cabins in the back. Very comfortable with fireplace, 2 bedrooms, bathroom and fully equipped kitchen - however, we didn't do any cooking as we were saddle-bagging it - so we opted to eat at the restaurant which was in the main part of the Inn. Food was good if I recall. I would love to stay there again for a few days of riding in those cabins. Definitely would go again!
