  1. I thought I would post this here for anyone that might be interested!  Here is a prime sledding and ATV accommodation that already has rental income. Right in the heart of Kearney!  Direct access to Fetterley’s gas station and right on the OFSC and Park to Park trail system too.  Walking distance to LCBO, Restaurants and General Store. A great opportunity to own this, or use yourself or share with friends?….and rent out the rest?  Algonquin Park Office already leases one of the commercial spaces below in the main building…so already monthly income from that. Please contact the owners of Pit Stop 518 directly for more information. I am only sharing what I think is a great opportunity.  Accommodations in the Town of Kearney for Sledding and ATV’ing are slim, so, this could be a great opportunity for someone.  Info in the link to contact for more information

Mr @Turbo Doo was hoping I might let him have a Valentines Day present this year, but I better get my 2022 sled first.  Otherwise I am gifting myself a 2023 and hope it will arrive completed next year in time for the season...lol.

Guys if you are dreaming of a new sled listen to your wives and get them something first.  You will have better luck getting what you want then...just trying to help you out :)

    Good advice Mrs TD!

Not sure if you have seen my other post, but we have no Groomer yet in Pointe Au Baril, very sad. Been out for repairs since last summer, drags are sitting here, operator is anxious to go, we have been dumped on several times. I see people riding them anyways. If you look at interactive trail map it's our local club's section that is still red. Snowing here again 😒

Just wondering..............why has the OFSC not sent a "loner" groomer to you in the interim?  I thought that it was their responsibility to do this?

Not allowed to race without one. The way a bunch of weekend warriors drive, it should be mandatory!! :icon_tinykitball:

I also ride with one as I believe it is also a safety issue - however, I think if I had a stuck throttle I would instinctively go for the kill switch - just my own personal thing I guess.

Thanks for posting GUP. I was going to run that loop today but at the last second thought i better check the trail status. It was red this morning. So a no go.

Yes  I figured with more trails opening that it would be one of the loops people would want you do as it is one of my favourites as well.  Hope they get it off the trail and fixed up soon so they can get that trail open  it sure has been a challenging year…but they are doing the best they can and working their butts off to make it happen.

In the Polaris instance I am asking as it is a simple way to be safe if the throttle has issues as per the recall.

As for the BRP tether, the issue is theft and insurance. If the DESS is knowingly faulty from the factory then some onus should be put on the manufacturer.

The throttle issue is certainly a safety issue , but I would be more inclined to use my Kill Switch than pull the tether if my throttle was stuck…but that’s just me maybe. With the Doos it is not an insurance issue and seems like more sleds being stolen other than 22’s. In fact , I haven’t seen one post yet about a 22 stolen.   BRP has given post locks to the dealers for the customers that purchased 22’s without DESS. Picked mine up and they work great.  So at least they have been quick to act and offer a solution at no charge.

I think you want a Bluetooth communicator with wired head phones.  Changing batteries for wireless speakers would be a pain.  With the communicator it's external and easy to access.  Then get an old iPod or if your phone has room put the music on it.

I have both iPod and iPhone with iTunes. So yes, I was wondering about charging the speakers as well. Hmmmm. Maybe I will just keep signing to myself. lol :smil9:

we run the sena 20S evo's they are a bluetooth, communicator and media unit. having the ability to talk, and warn people about changing conditions, is a godsend. no more stopping, waiting, hand signals, yelling conversations over running motors etc... having music, helps me pass the time, on rides, no different than listening to music in the background at work, in the car, at home. just makes the experience a little better. hearing a song later in life, that was playing during a specific moment, helps you "remember, and relive" the experience. I find myself doing that, more than paying attention to what is coming out of the speakers, while riding. I understand it isnt for everyone but, I enjoy it. your results may vary. Ski

Thanks Ski. Yes. That is what I am looking for. Mr Giddy is not one for the comms thing, although I can see the usefulness. I usually lead and am always waiting for him LOL. But he is never too far behind, but I am looking for the nostalgic tunes!  I will look into Sena!  Cheers!

Must be a 4 stroke thing?

LOL...I ride 2 stroke.  I have never listened to music while riding before - thought it was more for the youngsters actually...LOL.  Now as I am getting longer in the tooth I thought - what they heck!  Maybe I could listen to some tunes too! :rotflmao:

I notice many of our closed trails are links between clubs just like last season when links were closed to prevent the spread of COVID. Is this policy continuing this year I wonder?

Not that I am aware of - mostly snow conditions particularly in the Muskoka region with the Canadian Shield to deal with - lots of rocks and they have little snow compared to areas further south.  Even further south where there is more farm fields to go through is a challenge.  We rode out on Tuesday through some of those trails that are now listed as limited and they are mostly rough....still need more snow down there as well.  Today we are getting more snow - so I would expect to see more openings soon.  It has been a tough year so far

Was out today for a short ride. Almaguin 302 and 303 were groomed.D123 was getting groomed towards Kearney.Seguin was good till the D trail on the west side of Sprucedale. The Magnetewan club has been up to the Seguin on the 704 and 711. Parry Sound club has not come across to Sprucedale yet.

Hopefully this "Snow Squall Watch" we are under will come through with some decent snow.  The trails need another good dumping and will be in much better shape!  Keeping fingers crossed and doing the snow dance! :icon_dance-cpatch:

  12. I shared this post yesterday from Muskoka Snowtrails on a couple of FB sledding groups. For the most part, people “get it” and are onside - however - there were a few “laughing” emojis ….tell me what is so funny about this post?  I totally understand your position and thank you for all of your hard work for so many years , along with your permission to use your land. This is a sad situation caused by a small percentage of sledders. Unfortunately, that small percentage make it impossible for so many. I really wish we could bring back the Trail Wardens. More policing on the  trails is needed if we are ever going to get past this.

here is the post from yesterday - you are not alone 😒

Today was one of those days.  Both Steve Elliot (President) and myself Steve Walter (VP) spent the day staking lakes and installing signage.  The day started out great and then quickly went for a crap.

To 99% of our ridership that follow the rules, thank you for support.   To the 1% out there that believe the rules don't apply to you, we are done.    Without our board of directors, this club doesn't exist....your trail system doesn't exist...your landowners don't exist.   We had one board member resign this past week because it has become a lost cause and they had enough.   If the rest of us leave the board, snowmobiling in Muskoka Lakes will cease to exist.

If you have a modified exhaust/can on your sled, go ride Crown land.  If you see a hydro line, it is private land in this area, not Crown...anywhere.

To get to the point, today a land owner is at the end of their rope.  We are very close to our entire trail system from Glen Orchard to Cranberry Marsh closing because some entitled POS' think the rules don't apply to them.  If we lose this section of trail we have zero alternative's and our club could ultimately fold.

If anyone has any information as to those individuals riding off trail on the hydro lines West of Glen Orchard, please reach out by private message or contact the OPP non emergency line.

To those riding the closed trail tonight in Glen Orchard with your modified exhaust and then ripping down Butterfly Rd, the residents are done and it will not be tolerated again this year.

We are sorry it has come to this, but organized snowmobiling is hanging on by a thread in this area.  All we can ask is our ridership to help us by calling out the offenders and contacting the OPP.
