  1. Ridiculous how majority of groomers In the south just sit for seasons. Move tem up north where they are needed. All the old crap should be in the south and all new in the north.

  2. No different with all the groomer problems around Chapleau and over to Hornepayne. No reason for Tillsonburg to have a new groomer sitting in a shop while these tourist destinations up north are dealing with broken down equipment.

  3. At some point long past, one would think the appropriate person(s) at the OFSC would have made other arrangements for NEGB to have a fit groomer to use this season. Somebody somewhere has dropped the ball.

  4. Has the District gone to bat for you with the OFSC? It is their job to do so and continue to pressure the OFSC if they can't find a groomer for you to use from within your district. Personally, I would like to know this has happened before going any further.

  5. Wow. That’s a long time to be in a shop. I hate to pay bill on that one.

  6. Theoretically you are correct but since we already have riders who believe a trail permit gives them the right to ride any trail anytime, I believe that having only Red and Green trails would mean a dramatic increase in red riders. Maybe more education is needed for the club volunteers and groomer captains that make the call on the colour posted.

  7. If it was open and closed only then wouldn't there be many many more people riding closed trails and causing extra grief for enforcement and and additional danger for volunteers working on the trails. Quebec has 4 different trail ratings.

  9. Yeah maybe. They're really not doing the snowmobiling community any favors though. Sometimes I think the ITG would be better if it was just open or closed. Eliminate the limited which is interpreted so differently from area to area. Then again I'm in the camp that thinks they should show the grooming delay like New Brunswick does. I'm sure it's lawyers saying that can't happen, but sure would be nice to give folks the info they want.

  10. Lots of phone calls, emails and social media postings.. And asking why this is happening so it doesn't happen again.. Demand they send groomers north asap.. Come up with a cool name eg. Save The North and coordinate our efforts involving all the snowmobile forums... And calls to a few newspapers/news programs also gets quick result! An old fashion.........

  11. Lots of both style of groomers not likely to be used again this year in the south.

  12. How many clubs don't have a OFSC groomer available for there use. Here we are Feb 24 and still not no good answer when it's coming. I am no newbie to this crap show and the executive is going to give up. So all those that use C Trail between Pte au Baril and the Key River area don]t expect it to be open. Direct your disappointment towards the OFSC not the club. North East Georgian Bay S C District 10

  13. Rode their trails today. Nothing limited about them. They're awesome. Mid season conditions for sure. Took off from Deep River just after noon hour today. Headed for Mattawa. A trail was great. Little chop here and there but not much. A112A from the A to Mattawa was a mogul field. Not sure why but that stretch always sucks. Gassed up in Mattawa around 3:30. Then headed north west out of town. Much better on this side of town. It was snowing good now. Took the new Mattawa trail (MA170). This is a gem. Unfortunately a good chunk of it was plowed, but with a couple inches of fresh snow didn't matter today. Followed it onto NB308 and A102Q back out to hwy 11 and the A trail. Some more plowed roads, but excellent with the new snow. Eventually hit unplowed trail and it was a 10 out of 10. I don't think I saw a bump between Mattawa and Hwy 11 at the A trail. Then headed north. A trail to Temagami had some bumps (7 out of 10). Gassed up at 6:30 and kept running for New Liskeard. Arrived in town at 10 pm. Late finish, but it was a late start today. All in I met three groomers between A102Q/A and New Liskeard so things will be better tomorrow. There is a lot less snow in New Liskeard in comparison to the North Bay area or north of the park. Still enough to make great trails, but it's thin up here. Back to the truck tomorrow. Do I double back where I know some groomers are running tonight, or jump over the border and come back down in la Belle province?

  14. Instant Weather Ontario February Set to Go Out Like a Lion as Southern Ontario Is Targeted by Another Winter Storm on Monday Forecast: https://instantweather.ca/.../2023/2/25/son-winter-forecast Note: This is a preliminary forecast as there is some uncertainty on how long the cold temperatures will hold on which would affect the overall ice accretion. There is more confidence in the snowfall portion of this event so if we make any changes, it will likely be in Southwestern Ontario and the Golden Horseshoe once we get a better idea of how quickly the switchover will occur. Check back on Sunday for a more detailed forecast. Forecaster: Brennen Perry Published: Saturday, February 25, 2023 It has certainly been an active month across Southern Ontario regarding the weather as we’ve experienced almost all the seasons over the past few weeks. This includes temperatures on both extremes from wind chills in the -30s to spring-like temperatures well into the teens. It shouldn’t be a surprise that February is set to conclude with a bang across our region as yet another messy winter storm is on the horizon for Monday into Tuesday. Impacts will vary across the region from heavy snow in Central and Eastern Ontario to potentially several hours of freezing rain in the south. There is still some uncertainty regarding the exact intensity and timing of this storm so it’s quite likely there are some changes to the forecast as we get closer to Monday. At this point, it appears precipitation will start during the late morning or early afternoon on Monday in Deep Southwestern Ontario. With temperatures expected to be just above the freezing mark in the Windsor/Chatham area, it should come down in the form of rain. Total rainfall accumulation throughout this event will range from 10-20mm. As the precipitation spreads further north throughout the afternoon it will encounter some colder temperatures east of Lake Huron and into the Golden Horseshoe. As a result, a fairly expansive zone of freezing rain will develop and impact Sarnia, London, Goderich, K/W and Guelph along with parts of the GTA away from the shoreline throughout the afternoon and early evening. This could lead to icy road conditions just in time for the evening commute on Monday so plan to leave extra time to get to your destination and drive according to the conditions! The forecast gets tricky for those in the GTA around the Lake Ontario shoreline and into the Niagara region as temperatures will be very close to the freezing mark. Brief freezing rain is possible before it slowly transitions over to rain although if this transition is slower then more icing is possible. The Niagara region will likely see minimal freezing rain as the temperature is expected to rise faster there compared to other areas. While this system isn’t expected to be as significant as last week’s storm that brought heavy ice accretion from freezing rain, the time frame will be very similar as we see the worst impacts primarily during the evening across Southwestern Ontario and the Golden Horseshoe. Freezing rain will begin to transition over to rain in Southwestern Ontario as the temperature slowly climbs above the freezing mark during the evening and early overnight. Total ice accretion could range from 5-10mm in the hardest hit regions, but this should melt away fairly quickly unlikely last week which would limit the overall impact. It may still result in some localized power outages with a thin layer of ice developing on untreated surfaces including trees and power lines. Further north across Central and Eastern Ontario, we are looking at mostly snowfall with ice pellets mixed in for regions south of Lake Simcoe. Snow will start during the late afternoon and continue throughout the evening and overnight. Total snowfall accumulation is expected to range from 6 to 16cm with the highest totals in the more northern parts of our region. Those in Northeastern Ontario including Elliot Lake, Sudbury and North Bay could see up to 20cm of snow. We expect to see the snow come to an end by the noon hour on Tuesday. As mentioned, this is a preliminary forecast as there is some uncertainty on how long the cold temperatures will hold on which would affect the overall ice accretion. There is more confidence in the snowfall portion of this event so if we make any changes, it will likely be in Southwestern Ontario and the Golden Horseshoe once we get a better idea of how quickly the switchover will occur. Check back on Sunday for a more detailed forecast.

  15. If you are speaking about the red C101D to Foleyet, according to the Timmins FB page it is due to a large washout that is in the process of being repaired.

  16. Not sure what is going on a Chapleau for groomer issues but, guessing it is a staffing, operator, volunteer issue. As for Hornepayne, they had a brand new (brand new) groomer, and sunk it one of the first days out. They received a replacement but, it is a farm tractor type, and they are having training issues, learning how to run it on some of their terrain. All of these clubs used to have 2 or even 3 groomers, a back up, a spare, one to be maintained or repaired, while the others did the work. Now most of the clubs are down to 1 each, mostly. Can you imagine being responsible for 250, to close to 400 miles of trail, with only one machine, and possibly person to run it? When do you have time to change the oil, adjust, do routine maintenance, etc...? Then the sheer distance, and hours used, wears these machines out in a few years. add in rough terrain, etc... and it just gets worse. White river has zero (zero!) people in the club, and no one in town, not even business owners help, donate anything to the club. So, Marathon, jumps up, to open to White river, all the way to within 20 miles or so of Dubreuilville, and reconnected to Manitouwdge, on their own, with one groomer. This needs to change, or the area is going to fail again. people are getting or already are burned out. Ski

  17. No closed is closed. How can there be 2' of snow in north bay, trails groomed into the 9's and maybe one washout that causes the entire system to be yellow. Then in district 3 you get 6" of snow one groom and it all goes green despite the hazards. It makes no sense.

  18. 👍Thats how it should be. Open, closed and a groomer delay. Let the clubs/districts give conditions like qc does.

  19. So how do we as a group make a movement or motion to the ofsc to try and help north/central clubs?

  20. The NDSC trails were open and awesome on the 13th and 14th of this month before the rain/freeze/new snow of the 15th to the 17th. The only one we weren't on was NB308.

  21. District should be bending over backwards to get this club a groomer, if they dont, cant, then district should be in the OFSC's ear. if that isnt the case, have the club step around the district, throw them under the bus, and go to the OFSC yourselves. that is ridiculous. good luck, to all. 22. So sad. When Polar Bear Riders in Cochrane went down, a new groomer from another district was there in not time. Many groomers sitting idle in the south all winter. MOVE EM!

  24. It's been a trying year for our District. Currently we have 2 club groomers and our District spare down for the season. The refurbished groomer for NEGB has been scheduled for delivery multiple times but the shop working on it continues to find issues that delay delivery. They've had it in their shop since last summer. Frustrating.
