Sarah,
I have been able to recover your Dad's posts in text format. I found an old database backup. I'll finish cleaning it up and then I'll find a way to get it to you.

For lots of the sled season our sleds go in and out of a garage with concrete floor. We are fortunate to be able to sled right from the driveway to the trails. Garage isn't heated all the time, so snow/ice builds up largely from run-off or melt from under the tunnel.
Any suggestions for what we can put on the floor to retain some traction for the sleds?
Was wondering about building a wooden grid of 1 x 4" boards to allow water/ice to drop below and something the track/studs can grab.
The rubber products we have in our trailer would be ok, but hard to keep in place as I don't want any fasteners in the concrete.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Looking for some suggestions for places to stay in Quebec & day trip out of. Don't really want to do a saddlebag tour this year. We normally like to ride in the 250-300kms per day & would like to find a decent location to stay at for a 3-4 days & ride out of 1 place. We have ridden northern Ontario so many times over the last 20 plus years that our group is looking for a change. Any first hand experience at different spots would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
Green Grass
Is it green grass or is it snow? The Snow maps are way off this season.
A friend was north of Searchmont, (past Wabos), last Sunday and was swimming in snow and sent me photos to prove it. The snow maps revealed minimal snow.
Another friend was on the north end of the Tribag Mine road, north of Sault Ste. Marie and said the same, well over a foot of snow. The snow maps showed minimal snow.
Now that warm weather has moved in, it looks like 1st hand feedback from actual riders will be the accurate source of information this month leading into December.

Warm up, rain has put a hurt on the snow and river ice. The nice thing is, once it does get cold and the snow comes, it will help "protect" the rocks, stumps from sled impacts. Sets up a nice base for the season. Water levels are high in the entire Algoma region.
I bought a new 24' drive in/out last year and used caliber products. Sure it can get a bit spendy but they come with SS hardware, the hex bit you need, and installation is a breeze (cordless drill). In addition, they have a lifetime warranty and look better than the pictures above ;-D....
PM me if you'd like to discuss further.
Ahhh, agreed, but i said that they are "not getting rich" off it. Of course they're making money and what's wrong with that? Of course, you can always choose not to go
When we did that one year, we stayed at Le Rabaska - it was a good, cabins of various sizes, good food, night entertainment, bar, great staff.....
Not to far a drive, lots of directions to go for day rides.
Mekoos is not far and another place to stay - busier spot though.
