  2. Didn't get anywhere near the rain or warm temps they called for, thank goodness. Tightening back up and started snowing, maybe it's not over just yet, Fat Lady must be taking a break!

  4. Interestingly, if you head northwest on the A trail from where it goes yellow near Chalk River today and only ride the A trail, you can ride 1283 km. to the end of the open A trail in Geraldton.

  8. Same. Left NL yesterday, and to Latchford trails were OK. From the dam to Temagami were heavenly. Had lunch at Temagami Shores and continued south. And from Martin River to the D were the same, absolutely perfect

  9. They know how to do it in Temiskaming Shores too. Sorry to hear some folks have had bad experiences, but I've sledded out of New Liskeard several times, and found the trails generally excellent. I'm sure they have their challenges though, just like everywhere else. Trail conditions on the Wabi and Blanche Rivers, as well as Lake Temiskaming, are out of the club's control. I've also noticed the A Trail between the Wabi and Earlton can be subject to bad drifting, especially on the south side of the airport. Generally, though, I've found the club to be very experienced and diligent with their grooming. Also very good at communicating their progress via regular Facebook updates. Here are the last three posts:

  13. Good, hopefully it stays put and can be brought back to it's former glory. People need places to hang out, shoot pool, drink some beers, smoke, play some cards and listen to some bands belt out some 70's and 80's rock.

  14. My daughter had one (wolf) at least that close, only SHE was the one that bolted! At 14 yrs old and not all that much experience, she held that 470 liquid to the bars while trying to navigate a swamp, knowing full well that he was nipping at her snowflap the whole way - 'till she found someone. (me) That was the last time that she has came to Canada with me, and the 2nd last time she has went sledding. (Partly doo to being busy with other stuff as she got older, but ....)

  16. And, so why do we need 180+ HP trail sleds? I know, just for fun.

  17. The biggest issue with the La Reine Trail, is convincing the Quebec clubs to help out as well. Not as many riders coming from Quebec into Ontario, as there are Ontario Riders going into Quebec. That's always been the issue.

  18. Sad to see it gone. Lots of work and volunteer hours to make it sustainable. 30 years is a good run though. Thanks for you and your wife’s dedication over the years, much appreciated.

  19. Thieves. New ownership is needed at this place. We will not do the loop to support the canyon now after this seasons bashing of Arctic Riders and PBR Riders and their volunteers by the canyon yuppies.

  21. I agree. Enough is enough with these clowns. Polar Bear riders should consider something else. Re-open the trail to Quebec and close the loop. Focus on keeping the main trails smooth when they get the x-mas and end of season influx of traffic. If it can't be kept up to good standards and riders aren't going to be treated fairly close it. I get a buck or a buck and a half premium due to location. Not $4. That's extortion. These guys deserve to have the trail pulled. You don't see Halfway Haven, Pavillon La Verendyre, Kanata, Auberge du lac Faillon, etc acting like this. Most of these lodges have it way tougher (they have to plow their own roads) and are doing a much better job. I've been to Base camp twice. Both times left with a really bad taste in my mouth over the way it's ran. Will not be back.
