No one in the ditch but wow was it tricky driving. after a dead battery on sled we got out and going for a run to cochrane and back. boy was it frigid. lots of snow and excellent trail conditions. tomorrow Kap and back with lots of side loops. will post some pictures tomorrow.

  4. We rode the Forest today. Conditions were generally pretty good on the main trails, which were mostly groomed. The side trails were mostly not groomed and were pretty rough. There are still quite a few of the famous Hali stone available to ding your skis and studs (I'll do inspection of studs and carbides tomorrow to see what it cost me). Overall, a good day's sledding and well worth the trip. Major offseason clutch rebuild work on my 1200 and new engine top end on my Polaris worked without a hitch, awesome.

  8. Sault Ste. Marie - Updates We did well in the past 2 days for fresh snow. One more day of storms and we should see possible sunshine by Tuesday. Total accumulations should be in the 40 cm range over a 3 day period. Great for skiers, snowshoers and snowmobilers.

  9. We installed a “Ring” security camera at the farm on the weekend. I can now post pictures of the snow amounts for the east side of Lake Simcoe.

  10. I think your right, .....I had to post my 40 acres with 3 inch red dots on white background signs on border trees, to inform all that it is private , no hunting. If I didn't I would not have legal leg to stand on to uphold my land rights. ( or else it would be assumed crown land) Imagine me expecting people to go on the Ontario crown land website to determine it as private. Its too much to expect.

  11. Gadgetman, yes in D1 lost for this season and probably beyond. It’s a club trail, but I’ll leave it there for now. PLC, we don’t use them normally as too much driving around to change them, and Yes, refer to ITG is what we follow. The TC signs I put up are for the sheep that just know where the trail has always been, even though there are no other trail signs installed this season. I also put them up to show our former landowners that we still care about their property, in hopes of returning someday.

  12. So true, I live in another Northern Ont town serviced by OPP, my wife and I make it a conversation event if we see an OPP cruiser on our long fairly busy township thru road, and when we do see them it is a Monday or Tuesday morn , when all the DUI are never around. So expecting OPP on the trails is pie in the sky.

  13. no budgets for opp, or town constables to enforce traffic laws, how are they supposed to enforce recreational travel rules? you think it is bad in the more southern regions? you should see it in the "wild west" of the real true northern Ontario. take Dubreuilville for example. no one, and I mean, no one, follows the speed limits in town for autos, bikes, atv's sleds. all of them ripping around town at all hours of the day/night, way over the limit, brappp cans, loud truck exhaust etc... there is no OPP presence and, the town knows it. with this lack of penalties, people do what they want. trespassing? even if you had pics, and video of the offender, go to their home, the parents say... "that isnt my child". but, here is the proof... " I dont care, I am telling you, that is not my kid". they put up extra stop signs, and even speed bumps when entering/leaving town. with winter, they removed the bumps to ease plowing issues. they replaced the bumps with 2 stop signs... everyone rolls through them, like they did before... cop didnt see it, I didnt do it. sad really. but, you see with the town basically turning into a large mining camp now, there will be the need for 24 hour OPP, or town constable presence. many dont believe it will come but, you can see the writing on the wall. all it will take is a child, or a senior adult to be killed in the township limits (all under 50kph limits), and then it will become important. 14. Anyone know why the OFSC trail map does not show either warm up shacks or clubhouses? I just "Clicked" on the map to show club houses & nothing appears, not even the biggest one I have been to in Moonbeam is shown. There are several other warm up shacks that I know are there but none of them appear on the map. With all the restaurants closed for indoor dining it would be nice to see on a map where a warm up shack is or a clubhouse so you can plan your stops. Its also kind of a safety thing when your up in the northern corridor in the middle of nowhere at least you could see how far you are from shelter if the need arose.

  15. Son of a bitches, If they are not recovered perhaps the insurance company will be generous, you may be surprised. Just do not except their first offer and do some homework as the "current value" of those assets and be a pain in there sides.

  17. I’m on Redstone Lake. Fishing yesterday. Any holes I cut was at least 8 inches. The majority of the lake have been covered for two weeks. This past Tuesday morning the open areas in the main lake finally tightened up. A good 8 inches on the ground plus a couple more yesterday. No doubt HCSA will be packing soon. Lakes will be staked soon I imagine. Last year Big Red never froze over till Jan 25

  19. I did a search to see if this has been posted about other than mentioned in the odd thread, found nothing, so thought I would start one. Anyone have any reports, feedback, etc....on this one? I have recently seen two members ref it on QC trips, @Steve F6 here & @Thinksno on dootalk I think. I just downloaded it, created an account and plotted the QC trip we are doing in a couple of weeks that are all saved just waiting to be used for each day. Looks pretty decent to me looking at the phone vs. real world use.

  21. I'm told by a very reliable source that the OFSC doesn't want clubs to use "Trail Closed" signs. They want the ITG to be THE source for trail availability information. It doesn't seem that's working well for them. I still use them on my trail section. I turn them immediately when status changes. My belief is that the Trail Closed signs pretty much do away with the validity of any excuse a closed trail rider may have.

  22. Price has increased to $500K from the $359K. I have a foggy memory of being in that place one Saturday night, circa 1977. Place was packed.

  23. Such a kick in the face to the land owner and all the 20+ volunteers that worked hard on Saturday to open a new connecting trail to that one on the north end of the swamp.

  24. Can't fix stupid, but we're getting to the point where snow fencing and/or some form of a "block" need to be at easy trail access locations until they are open. It's a late start - people are "itching" etc. No win - only a lose for everyone

  27. It is well staked and marked this year and last year by the St. Clements SC and was being used prior to that. The groomer can't groom it because of the pedestrian style bridge on the railbed but its not far to ride. Far better than ditchbanging.

  28. It all depends on what the districts have inputted thats been provided by clubs. Points of Interest, clubhouses, scenic lookouts, public staging/ parking etc etc. We all have that option. Our clubs, clubhouse shows up in Midhurst Sno Voyageurs club in D8. May I ask what device you are using to view? I am using a Samsung s20, and on computer google crome. Crome is the preferred for best optimized view. You can also try and clear your cache or cookies.. Paul

  36. There is a timeout on the edit feature. It was set at 60 minutes. There have been issues in the past where people have used edit for personal vendetta reasons. I have changed the edit to 14 days. Hopefully this will allow for a better experience.

  38. Heading to a clients today and drove past the gated storage compound in Stratford that I keep my sled and Triton TC167 and I dont see my trailer in the yard. I spin around and go into the compound to find that my 21 Renegade and 21 TC167 have been stolen sometime in the last week. I dont know whether to throw up or cry right now. Chances of replacing either at this point of the year are slim to nil. I know this is a knee jerk reaction, but at this point, I am almost ready to say f-ck it and be done with sledding altogether.

  40. The problem is that the storage company only keeps video for 72 hours and it appears that the sled was stolen a week ago. It is now coming out that the storage company had a break in last Wed and someone may have got access to the electrical panel which controls the electromagnets on the gates. In my opinion, the storage company should have informed everyone to check to see if their stuff was still in the yard, but they did not.

  42. Here we go again: FROM PINERIDGE S.C. F/B PAGE Well folks, the season is barely started and NO trails open yet and we have a landowner complaint on our hands and will have to re-route a trail west of Exeter heading to the swamp due to sledders riding on a Closed trail crossing a wheat field. I get your keen but you just cost us a trail, ticked off a farmer and created a bunch of work for volunteers that don’t need more work. STAY OFF CLOSED trails and refer to ITG for their status, it’s that simple.
