  1. I'm so happy and content with the fact that I have my old 2006 Dakota and my old 2006 Toy Carrier holding my old 2015 XF7000 LXR and my sons old 2017 ZR7000 LXR. All prepped and ready to go with this summers enhancements. Not a worry in the world, just need to sit tight and wait for snow with my 40 Creek. No 1st world problems of the race for the fastest, best, newest equipment that is still not fast enough. I call that "Itchy Ass Syndrome".

  2. and understand, crown land trails, roads can be accessed at all times, as they are public lands (as long as there are no LUP's for logging, mining/use by industry). also, some clubs like sledders to "track" (pack) the trails down, before the groomer goes through. this allows the "packers" to help the club, clean some of the smaller obstacles, and report back to the club, what to expect on the first groom. the ITG is for the OFSC's liability, and private land owner protection, for the most part. 3. A few years back we left Dub on a big loop trip. Meeting up the first night in Timmins with others that had left a day earlier to loop up through Abitibi Canyon. Starting off the 2nd day of the trip as a full group, the weather turned warmer, but still great riding to Foleyet. When we stopped, a local who helped groom happened to come through the only gas station in the area and told us he thought the trail was going "RED". No problem until we got through Chapleau and started heading south past the airport. We had reservations at Halfway Haven and no way back except to keep going. Loggers had bulldozed the trail to dirt for over 5 miles near Poulin Lake next to Hwy 129 and the cut though Sheppard Morse Road was all plowed to dirt as well. Once past this area it was again all good, though the trails had officially all gone "RED". Back in Dub the third day all was good. My point is that Green may go Red overnight or in the middle of a day and you might have no warning. I do not feel as though we did anything wrong as there was absolutely no warning. We do respect the trail status when we plan and even until we find ourselves with no choice. Then we try our best to get off the trails.

  4. Sault Ste. Marie - Updates - Wednesday Dec. 22nd We received 15 cms of powder last night within the City Centre. I was up early this morning to blow the driveway and went for a sled run shortly after. Hopefully our new neighbours next door from Southern-Ontario like snowmobiles.

  5. Without commenting on anybody's specific trail riding choices, and while acknowledging that many kilometres of northern trails do utilize private property, one can generally say there's a lot more crown land between Cochrane and Hearst than there is in the more southern parts of the province. The Ontario Crown Lands Atlas shows private property in grey.

  6. I respect unavailable trails. No sugar coating here.

  7. Thanks to those who chimed in and sent an email to the ML District Public works office , I saw the following article that updates the situation. the article states there were 141 emails of support and one against. Thanks again ! Quote "While still concerned about the risk factor of allowing snowmobiles to travel along Highway 118, the District of Muskoka’s Engineering and Public Works Committee will move forward with creating a new 500-metre trail." https://www.mymuskokanow.com/115550/district-committee-approves-new-snowmobile-trail-in-port-carling/

  9. Yeah. I think I am going to bail on it if it isnt here until Feb. I am booked to go down south for 10 days mid Feb unless COVID kills those plans so I basically have March to use it. I will order a 23 and keep my cash in the bank. I really dont care if the 23s go way up in price. I will deal with that problem next year.

  10. By the looks of things up there, I would not be driving 9hrs to ride in marginal conditions. I would rather wait a couple of weeks and hope things improve. We are booked to go somewhere on the 14-16th but I am still waiting for our 2nd sled to arrive so even that looks questionable today.

  11. Ferris never made it. Ordered in October 2020. I was able to get similar model from dealer B, they had a cancelled order. It had 61” deck not 52”. Ferris didn’t send out any 52’s into ontario this past season. 61 worked out better for me anyways. Very happy to get it. 😎 Only paid about 700 too much, but what can you do. Still managed 75 hours before season ended. It was 50 percent faster then tractor on average. 😎 zero trim too which is fantastic. Nothing gets closer to obstacles then a zero turn 😎

  14. Totally agree with you given the circumstances AC+YA. That said I don't agree with anyone riding trails on private land that have never changed from red unless OK'd by the appropriate club.

  16. I sold my double-wide aluminum to a gentleman for a bargain price, with anticipation of upgrading to a new trailer. Now that supply issues are front-and-center and prices have gone skyward, I'm now on hold. I still have one trailer and will hang on to it like glue.

  17. Sucks. You can always rent a u haul van. I had no zero turn for months. Thankfully it was just an addition and still had tractor. I wanted and waited for it and got tired of all excuses and got my money back. Dealer never got it. Hopefully your trailer comes in soon, but with boarder going for a you know what going to be hard to get them here now too.

  18. Please read the link below included in the article is an email address to the township department that has influence whether or not the club can build a 500 meter trail along highway 118 West at a forthcoming meeting. This trail is required to bypass land where the landowner revoked the right 2 years ago and isolated Port Carling. The 500 meter trail would connect Port Carling to the Bracebridge trails. Club president states "Ahead of the meeting, Elliot is asking sledders to email publicworks@muskoka.on.ca to show their support. " If you can please email the public works department and show your support for this trail it would be greatly appreciated. https://www.mymuskokanow.com/115489/muskoka-lakes-snowmobile-club-hoping-district-council-votes-to-connect-port-carling-trail-to-rest-of-muskoka/ Below is simple text letter you can cut and paste to an email, publicworks@muskoka.on.ca Please feel free add any further reasons Public Works Department Muskoka Lakes District To: Whom this may concern; I support the Muskoka Lakes Snowtrails Association (MLSTA) proposal to the 500 meter trail along hwy 118West between Carr road and Penwood road. Snowmobiling in this area needs this trail !! Your support of the MLSTA request would be greatly appreciated. Avid Snowmobiler John Smith

  20. Johnny's Truck Stop - Highway 129 - Aubrey Falls, Ontario Exactly, just like you said OX, check out the parking lot. Looks like most of the property is being used for storage, with a few buildings active for winter activity. The main Lodge is gone.

  21. Yes, new owners. I have yet to meet them, however, they are very enthusiastic about the upcoming winter season based upon our email conversations and their posts. They are open.

  23. Sault Ste. Marie - Updates It's snowing in the Sault today. We don't have a lot of snow in the City Centre itself, however, north of the city is a different story.

  24. Listing is no longer online apparently. I wonder if it sold? Is it still open? We rode up from Dunlop Lake Lodge a couple of years ago. Lovely little plcace....a diamond in the ruff so-to-speak! Loved it. A welcome bowl of hot soup of the day. We took a peek into the cabins - very comfortable indeed! We talked about one day heading back there to stay a couple of days to ride. We will need to plan something there maybe next year

  27. I went up over Christmas/New years a few times and will never do it again, unless they get 3 feet of snow, even at that, the sheer volume of sleds will beat the trails up so bad you will not enjoy it all that much. Wait until early/mid Jan if you can. To trailer from the GTA and stay 3 nights will cost you a G note all day long, to ride yellow trails is a waste IMO, but I also understand the itch to get out. I personally shift my big trips to end of Feb or early March, when you have pretty much guaranteed great trails.

  28. They rely on Terry's Restaurant. That's it. I'd never stay there. We stayed there quite a few years ago, rooms were dirty, rooms were cold. Never again for us. JR's and the 49th Parallel Restaurant for food for us. The 49th Parallel is what took over for the Ice hut. It's owned by the same guy that owns the Station Inn Restaurant. Travelodge across the street beside the new A and W and the big Esso had half decent reviews from a few we chatted to. We will be staying at the Westway. They support PBR Riders. Brian and Kathy have always treated us good.

  30. Just a FYI. The Super 8 next door, is owned by the same people that own the Companion Inn. OC Member @Evil has stayed there, and booked us rooms there last season for our excursions up there with them. We like both places, so if there is ever a shortage of rooms, it's a option also. And with staying at the Super 8, you also receive vouchers for the Bar and restaurant in the Companion Inn..

  31. Just got this email. Kind of bummed out right now. TO OUR VALUED SNOWCHECK CUSTOMERS. We know everyone is eager to hit the trails this winter on their new Ski-Doo. Our staff knows how much our customers want to be out enjoying their new snow toy, as well as our staff wanting to see the smiles on your faces when they arrive! We can assure you that once your unit is here & ready to go, we have the whole dealership working together to get it ready for you to enjoy. Unfortunately, due to continued delays in component parts, your snowmobile has been delayed and is now expected to ship between late January & February. Our dealership knows this isn’t ideal, & not what we wanted either. Although we want to provide our customers with as much notice as we possibly can as we receive updates from BRP. You do have a few options for you snow check order. You can keep your Snow check order & wait for it to arrive. You can cancel your Snow Check order, & be reimbursed with your deposit. Please contact your sales representative if you do choose to cancel your order. We will continue to provide updates in the coming months as the build schedules and components availability evolves. As soon as your sled arrives your sales representative will contact you immediately to begin arrangements for pick up. Thank you for being patient and understanding the situation that we are currently in right now. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and greatly appreciate your loyalty & business through these tough times as we go through them together. Sincerely, The St.Onge Recreation Team

  32. I'm stuck with my new trailer purchase. I ordered a new trailer from Georgian Bay trailers and put a deposit in June, still can't get it, last time I was told it's coming before Christmas, now in the middle of January. Production is way behind schedule and like they say "We can't sell what we don't have". Also they increased the price by $1000. I sold my old trailer, better to say I took a deposit for it and now I'm between two walls. Last thing I want, it's stuck for a winter without a trailer. 🤔

  33. According to my dealer, skis are on BO until late Jan. He is not sure if he can deliver sleds without skis as BRP will not issue a NVIS until the sled is complete. He is trying to find out if they will make an exception for something like skis. Same dealer is waiting for almost 70 900Rs to arrive. Most of them are late Jan ship dates which means owners wont be getting them until mid Feb.
