  1. Trailside bbq has always been a big hit. Hot dogs, sausages, hamburgers. One guy even brought a venison steak to throw on as a little appetizer. We have also used club sponsors who have a restaraunt. Either meet for breakfast, or if its not a long day, a late lunch..

  5. GREAT NEWS........ I heard that the Club Alouettes Dubreuilville have reached an agreement with the logging company and MNR to allow the east side of the 100 mile loop to be used as the connecting trail. The interactive map shows this as "DUB1" and will act as the connector to complete the D108A. The west side labeled as D108A will be open only to the Canadian Pacific tracks this season. They are brushing the trail out to the Magpie from town and also north of town D108A all the way to the railroad tracks which was the new trail not always used fully due to not being easy to groom. With this more complete brushing it should be easier to pack a base for late season access to fishing just north of the CP tracks. This should help keep more local support for the trails. The road usually turns to dirt after the plows decide to remove the trail portions created along this rail crossing access road. The equipment being used to brush is an excavator with a wide brushing head able to really cut a wide trail all the way to the ground. Coupled with Halfway Haven opening, the trail system should be in good shape to run the big loop or to run from SSM to the northern corridor. Logging toward White River west of Dub may keep the run to the west from opening, but I hope not.

  6. Now that we are at busiest phase of trail install (yippee), I was wondering how the different clubs address the issue of lunch for volunteers who are working a full day (6-7 hours minimum) on the trails? Snowmobile volunteering is a little unique in that we are generally 'in the middle of no where' when lunchtime rolls around. During my years of volunteering, I have seen the following methods of handling lunch, but there are probably others: Each volunteer packs their own lunch/snacks/drinks. A club volunteer offers to prepare/purchase lunch for the full-day work crews The club has budget space to cover a few pizzas or other lunch items. Just wanting to see how this is handled at different clubs around the province.

  8. I used the kimpex system all last year without problems but 90% of the time I was just using the bag, last trip of the year I had both on and worked out good. One thing though the instructions are wrong on the hole spacing, luckily I mounted mine on a piece of plywood wood to make sure how it all went together and sure enough the whole spacing is to wide which will cause the bad or fuel can to wiggle a bit.

  10. I have not used the Kimpex system at all but have used the Linq bags and gas caddy with the Upnorth Technologies bracket with good success, this year going to run one of the South Simcoe Machine dual brackets they just released and see how it goes.

  11. I have the gas can and rode with it all last year. I have the bag on order for this year. The bag will go either in front or behind the gas and the I might order the smaller oil container for on top of the gas.

  12. If you haven't already, do some measuring of available chassis space before buying the system. My buddy put a similar system (from Royal Dist.) on his 137 length chassis (not a Cat). It fit and is a slick way to carry extra fuel however does interfere with the rear bumper somewhat.

  13. Unknowingly, I am remiss in not pointing out that another of our members was also recognized as a Volunteer of the year. District 4's Steve Hutton of the Orangeville club also won volunteer of the year. My apologies Steve for not realizing you as an OC member and Congratulations on being 2021 District Volunteer of the year.
