  1. Trail to the Super 8 was groomed yesterday (Thursday Feb. 25) Tough start to the day... but trails all round in good condition. Motel parking lots are empty - where is everyone?

  2. Deal is now sealed......or I guess as sealed as it gets for now! Excited for 2021/22 season....feels weird not having a sled though, never had it play out this way before.

  3. Yes rode them today. Left from st clements went to listowel Palmerston Harrison mount forest and around and back thru Arthur. Arthur getting thin. Most snow is west of highway 6 from listowel up. Trail to wingman and over to Blyth looked mint and lots of snow still. B111 is good all way up to mount forest and only a little bit of road near pike lake resort. Didn’t go much north of mount forest. But over to palmserton Harriston and done to listowel not much road running. Good luck. Looked good heading to Duram today but ran out of time. Managed 150 miles.

  4. I've been sledding ON since 1998, and we as a group always slow down when passing stopped sleds, either direction. To me, it seems that when we are stopped, other sleds slowing down when passing us has decreased each year, to the point that this year in my local area (D1) no one slows down while passing us when I'm stopped. As Lead sled I set the pace, so I slow us down when passing stopped sleds. Actually, we slow down when approaching oncoming sleds, even on straight stretches, which also seems to be decreasing (closing at 100km\hr will always have risk). So, my question to all of the "Leads", isn't it much safer if all Lead sleds slow your group down when passing stopped sleds?

  5. Wow. What a beauty of a day. Trailered to Mt forest meet up with some old friends. left 9:00am, lunch in Blyth on bench outside of Timmys. Only really bad trails were Blyth/Seaforth - but see they are red on ITG. 269 km for the day. Had not ridden Mitchel / Listowel / B111 for a couple of years - forgot how open and fast the fields were. bush and road running are taking a beating. wonderful last day in D9 for me I suspect .

  6. Bushes are getting snirty. Brown spots in the fields are getting larger by the minute. That being said, the only bare spot on the trail was at the Stratford corner of the swamp, where about 150 metres of bare ground showed. If we survive the weekend I will be surprised. Any other year, have at it, but on a year that has been this good, time to leave them parked. I haven't wrecked anything yet, why start now. LOL

  7. They may be trying to save a decent frozen snow base. If the base gets torn up by sleds and exposes the ground to the sun, it's game over, even if it snows at this time of year. Especially on winter wheat. That's a hard stop for us. We can not afford to destroy land owners crops and wreck that relationship. It's warm and sunny where I am. Our groomer went out and did 18 hours straight, yesterday/today. The temperatures dictated the best time to go. Two operators, two different grooming areas as our next door club's groomer has been down for over a week. We've been sharing one groomer, and it's been used to the max for this past week by both groomer coordinators. think it's been out over 100 hrs in 7 days. One club takes it out for a run, comes back here for fuel, maybe a short stop, and back out it goes. This is only possible thanks to the volunteers, and that we both have almost identical Prinoth Huskys and mogul master drags. No one needed to be brought up to speed on the setup. We've even been doing each others trails when an operator had extra time and it made sense. Been doing that all year. My club's president and groomer coordinator is a champ. Brought all of the operators on a group text chain. A first for us. It works way better than phone calls. We all know the status of the machine, where it's at, what it's doing, who is in it next and what we can/should be doing so someone can step up. She is a rock star. The old boy's club is now the young woman's club and we are much better for it.

  9. Thank you! Renegade X 900 Turbo R Black, 1.5" IR, old school gauge & no quick adjust. I was on the fence about the XRS, but figured the money I will save by getting the X, will cover the 1+1 seat I am buying.

  10. Props to all involved to make it happen! We combined over 8000 miles on the old fleet on our home club trails in D5 and all around D9 riding from the back yard.

  11. Gotta chime in for the D9 peeps as well. None of this happens without district/ofsc support, or permit money. Had an issue with our shared groomer. Didn't turn left worth a crap. Emailed the district, they got the Shop Industrial guys down and worked on our groomer, fixed the issue. That ain't free. Don't ride with jerks who didn't buy a permit.

  13. This is the hood off the young lads Alpine. This club amalgamated with 2 or 3 others, making up the club next to us. Wouldn't catch me doing 12 hour shift on that. It's still grooming though, just woodlot trails.

  14. Have not run out on that run to date......if your tank is full when you leave, I would find it hard to believe if someone did. Now if you have one of those guys in the group that thinks they are good, no need to fill, might have a different outcome......

  15. Again - you laugh, but I ride with an old fella [in the mountains, gotta be aboot 80 by now] that has not had a seat on his sled in the 20 years that I have known him. We met up with the Ski-Doo spring test ride promo @ Grand Mesa, Col once - maybe a six - eight years ago now, and the first thing that he did was take the seat off and toss it in the snowbank. (OK, well maybe not toss in snowbank, but it makes a good story better eh?) The Doo tech was like .... "What the heck? You don't want the seat on it?" "Naw, Bill doesn't need no stinkin' seat! Just a waste of weight!" LOL!

  16. Just sold my sled. Listed it Tues night, a ton of interest and first guy that came this morning, took it.....he really wanted to come yesterday afternoon to see and pick it up, but I was busy. Two other guys were asking about coming later today. Crazy year for used sled market, I am in shock that it sold this fast and for way more than I would expected after having it for as long as I did. I could have got more I am sure, but happy to see it go so fast, no hassles and someone else can enjoy it as much as I did!

  22. UPDATE FROM TIMMINS S C FACEBOOK PAGE ON A111C RE-ROUTE: Good News, we have successfully re-routed the closed section of the A111C and have been able to get land use permissions. Please use caution on this new section of trail and follow all posted signage. Big thank you to all the landowners who were able to quickly grant us permission for this re-route. The ITG is getting updated to reflect this change in the trail. Refer to the ITG for trail updates.

  23. There won't be any "deals" when there is limited numbers and people are buying - I mean the margins are small all the time anyway.

  25. That is a nice sled! The new gauge is pricy. I agree sometimes you have to pick and choose to save where you can to get other things you want.

  26. It’s about 150Km from Cochrane to Base camp and about another 80km back down the other side to Smooth Rock Falls. We made it (barely) the whole 230km once on hard packed trails on 800 Etec’s cause we were carrying our gas cans as a backup but didn’t need them. Softer trails we would definitely need a bit more fuel to make the full loop. We always gas up at the top now regardless of the price just to support them anyways. Getting up either side on a tank should be no problem for most sleds.

  27. Congrats on your new 2022 sled. I agree it is weird to buy them now and wait. What did you finally decide to get?

  28. That was my plan originally.....then they up'd the ante to 180 hp, so just had to go with a 2022. Plus with it being my first DOO, I was worried about possibly getting another person's problem that would give me a bad taste with DOO because of someone else's lack of care. And on top of that, what I got for my old sled, I am sure closed the price gap between a 2021 and a 2022....so new it was!

  29. Today we rode from Orangeville through Arthur, Palmerston, Wingham to Kincardine for lunch. After lunch we ran up to Tiverton down through Walkerton, Hanover, Ayton, Mt forest, Arthur back to Orangeville. In the morning trails where very hard and icy and hard on the arms, by 10am the sun softened things up and the trails where really good. Roads weren't great and some of the bush trails are snirty but really no problem areas on the trails. I was surprised the trails were so good and the the amount of snow coverage for this time of year. If I had Friday off I'd be out again.

  30. @Gadgetman Met a group of 4 a couple of weeks ago on the railbed south of Bancroft that were running nose to tail. W/ all the snow dust I doubt the last rider even saw me on the trail... It didn't appear that any of them slowed down seeing an oncoming sled. No wonder you have chain reaction accidents where the following sleds pole into the initial crashed sleds. Later the same day I stopped to take some pics. Three sleds caught up to me & the lead rider slowed down to ask if O was OK. I gave him the . He nodded & continued on.

  31. Lots of snow still west of Arthur over listowel way. B111 was frredjly groomed all way up to mount forest. B202 was groomed down to Arthur too. B109 is getting thin no doubt. Maybe one more ride to blyth tomorrow looked mint going that way today.

  34. I like the Top A ...it holds fond memories of my first ride of the season for 6 out of the last 8 years, usually Christmas day, while others languish uselessly with their families. ug. Leaving the Advantage or the Apollo motel and heading west toward Hearst feels like an old friend after 9 months of no riding. I have done the other trails too....just letting you know so I don't get dumped into that low "tourist" level of the sledding hierarchy - a big bruise to my self esteem...thanks revrnd...but the A trail will always have a special place in my heart. Gonna ride it tomorrow morning as a matter of fact. Four inches of new snow, -20 or so this evening, trails should be deep and crisp and even.

  35. I know some guys who crossed into Quebec from the junction of A107Q and the A108Q on the Blanche River, which takes you to Notre Dame du Nord. A107Q is staked to Dawson Point, from what i could see passing thru yesterday. These guys ride the area very often. Thats all i can share..

  36. Free ride is closer to a summit. Backcountry is more of true crossover from trail. I agree seems to be a lot of model overlap. Keep in mind we are a small market segment here in Ontario. I took my 146 backcountry to Golden BC for month of March last year. When you spend time in the west you can see how much more application there is for these models. Shared a couple pics..just because.

  37. I don't know what you guys are on about. The front end of a four stroke is light as a feather. If anybody says snowmobiling is not exercise, tell them they should have followed me around today. I got stuck twice, once before lunch and once after.

  38. 2015 MXZ-X 800, 4400 kms, sold it for $8400, she was happy and so was I. I listed that sled for $8500 2 years ago when it had 3000 kms on it and never got one inquiry.....lol
