  1. Ditto for 2 of us, riding out of Pt. Sydney yesterday...unreal how much new snow in that area. We did a nice 175 km round trip in N/E Muskoka...had our trailside lunch at Oxtongue Rapids, and even took a pic of same sign you did, Muskoka Bill...

  3. I just sent an email to the editor at the North Bay newspaper that ran our letter last week. Anybody wanting to ask the same or write their own letters or emails can contact him at bcooper@metrolandnorthmedia.com Good morning Brent It would appear that Dr. Chirico is extending the lockdown for “Outdoor Recreation”, again without facts to back this it up. The question is....Why is cross country skiing an allowed activity well all others are not? Is it because he, or a friend or Family member are active members of a Cross Country Ski Club perhaps? I would like an answer to his reasoning behind this decision and I am sure your readers would too! Regards Leanne Ziraldo

  4. Interesting how he says “outdoor recreation”, however his cross country skiing isn’t included? Hmmmmm....I call BS Doctor! I am sure all his cross country skiing buddies are enjoying the groomed OFSC trails! If you are closing “Outdoor Recreation” then this too should be included you entitled Asshat!

  5. I would be calling this lawyer asap. He managed to win and get the gym open. Show the hyprocsy. Also, as a trail permit purchaser - you are part of a "CLUB" - a private club - frig this guy and ride your trails. See him in court. https://www.kitchenertoday.com/local-news/kitchener-gym-launches-a-charter-challenge-against-ontarios-stay-at-home-order-3285247

  6. K...so this is interesting! Just called the Nordic Ski Club and asked about their COVID precautions. First, the Clubhouse is closed, however the WASHROOMS are not! Hmmmmm...ok?? Is someone there wiping down the toilets etc every single use? I asked about sanitization of rental equipment ....boots are sanitized but the skis are not. Hmmmm....don’t people handle the skis? What a friggin hypocrite this dude is! I am getting madder by the second!

  8. Probably before COVID , nobody in the area had heard of him. Now that he's @ the forefront of 'fighting the pandemic' he's enjoying his 15 minutes in the spotlight... Yes, this sounds very much like the azzhats vacationing when we're supposed to stay home. Outdoors is outdoors. And like Giddy Up said, how can the facilities be open if nobody is cleaning them?

  9. Great Work Mrs. GIDDY UP. One more week, and they better open those trails. Just sickening the damage thats being done. And to learn hes a member of the ski club. Kinda reminds you of all the government officials vacationing, while preaching eveyone stay home. Funny how this all comes to light. I feel for you guys and gals in the areas affected by the closure. Nuts, absolutely nuts..

  10. More information you can either use or ignore....lol I just called the North Bay Health Unit. Spoke to a person that answered phone and asked why Nordic Ski Club allowed to be open? She transferred me to COVID call line. That lady didn't have an answer - however - I spoke with her for quite some time. The bottom line is.....apparently they take ALL complaints and put them on a "spreadsheet" which is where my complaint apparently is going. This "spreadsheet" is reviewed on a regular basis. So....I asked how many complaints are on the "spreadsheet" related to the snowmobile trails? - which she would not disclose (my bet is not as many as there are complaining they aren't open.....but I digress), so....if enough people actually call in to complain that the Nordic Ski Club should be considered part of "Outdoor Recreation" and not allowed - then that complaint will be registered on the "spreadsheet"! I am thinking it highly coincidental that "allegedly" said Health Director is a member of the Nordic Ski Club...and that club is a Membership Club. I called the Nordic Ski Club again to confirm this. Apparently the club is open to the public...BUT....MEMBERS ONLY during the lockdown! Wow...must be nice to have only members using these groomed trails using Crown Land! Wow! The Hypocrisy is getting better'er and better'er! I urge everyone to take a few minutes today or tomorrow to flood the Spreadsheet! If we can't sled...why should they be allowed to ski!??? Huffing and Puffing down those trails - "moistly" talking and gathering on the trails without the benefit of full PPE. North Bay Health Unit - 705-474-1400 or 1-800-563-2808 Dial 0 to speak to main switchboard - and ask for COVID Call Center. Let's make our own "spreadsheet" with OC members complaining.

  11. The west side of the hwy tunnel in hgr territory was full of water with a nasty frozen trench right up to the running boards at the exit on sunday. Hopefully its fixed up by now. Got my new sled all dirty! Port Sydney got hammered with snow, this was on Clearwater lake on sunday. 2 feet of fresh yum yums!

  12. Honestly, I think given the situation, If that is what it would take for locals to ride trails in their backyard, I think it’s a good idea or work around. I’m sure they could also do some trail work at the same time...win win for all really....or at least stick it to that peebrain doctor.

  13. Nice run last Friday. Plenty of fresh snow falling, lots on the trails. 114 miles round trip. Trails were very good. Groomer went by and stopped as we were having lunch. Lunch stop on intersection of C111D and 56. Great place with a nice washroom. Roasted hot dogs, some other snacks, coffee, etc. Went across Wahnapetei Lake on trail 71 on the way there... that wasn't fun with the wind, slush spots and small pressure crack.. needless to say we took C rail bed back from Capreol. Was a great day, with great people.

  15. A fellow I ride with has a rene 900T with the stock track plus picks. He doesn't like loading or unloading the sled. I unloaded it in sport mode from another friends trailer that has a wood floor. Woops!!! Note to self: Always use econ mode when loading/unloading Bills sled.

  24. I have read that this is the cross country ski club that he belongs to. However, even if that is a rumour, why are they allowed to remain open? Letters and phone calls should be made at the very least! North Bay Nordic Ski Club, 630 Northshore Rd, North Bay, ON. 705-495-0332. Website northbaynordic.ca

  26. correct B106E from north of LSP to Whitney has not been groomed through the closure - (changing health units). With the change in restrictions it should be open in the next couple days, club was working on the trail today. MLSS will also be able to connect on the 175 to Madawaska and E109 east towards Combermere. MLSS facebook has a post regarding this. ITG will update accordingly.

  31. Hence my comment about opening up, riding, and going against this stupid order. He may have the power to implement it, but there has to be sound reason and justification - none of which exists outside of his own twisted vision. It might be time his bs be taken in front of a judge, I think clubs should keep grooming, people should keep riding and let the ticket writing happen with every single one of them go into the already back logged courts for dispute. It's over the top and people should not be listening and obeying like dogs looking for some sort of a treat.

  32. Bigfish rode up to the Ptbo staging area to meet me. I was surprised to see him sitting on his sled in the lot. "It's faster to find here than drive!" Rode east almost to the reptile zoo west of Norwood. He had been thru there on Sat' & said the snow was thin towards Havelock. Rode back down to the E208 & then east to the 569S to get to Rice Lake. Lake conditions were good to the Hiawatha trailhead. (Be aware that the FN is under lockdown, so fuel is not available) He rode home from there. I continued up 511 thru Mathers Corners to the railbed. I rode under the 115 to the Wonder bread distributor. The Wendy's & Tims are a 5 minute walk from here. Not sure how 'pedestrians' would be handled if you wanted to order something. On a drumlin NW of Mathers Corners. CR 2 is visible in the distance. The field to the north was strange. Drifts all across it, but where the trail ran along its edge by the tree line, very rough and barely snow covered. Back @ the railbed South to 511 Heading towards Ptbo Hastings is that a way... Stopped @ Old Keene Road. This is south of the Esso just east of Ptbo on Hwy 7. Looking west towards the 115 Plastic pipe supplier on Pido Road. I'm on a abandoned CN/CPR spur that served several industries. This company's decision to not manufacture the pipe here (receiving pellets in covered hoppers) helped hasten the abandonment. Trent Timber Treating adjacent to the next photo used to receive flat cars of lumber. Now all their product comes & goes by truck. Looking east @ the 115 overpass by Ashburnham As usual, Canada's favourite rodent has been busy by the staging lot. The stump closer to the camera was about 6" in dia'. Saw another towards the overpass that must've been a foot in diameter that they had fallen. It would be nice if they got some more snow. Good conditions mostly, but some spots quite thin. 77 klicks for the afternoon. Would've hit a hundred had we ridden to Hastings.

  40. Sometime during the history of this forum, it was suggested that a special section for women be created complete with separate passwords etc. This idea was immediately poo poohed by Slow Touring Guy as being missogji.. missognistyk...myssoginistic....bad for women...arguing that as equal members of society they should be subject to the same amount of abuse as those male members. (no pun intended) Recent political polls suggest that Erin O'Toole, federal Conservative leader, is not liked by women. You are a woman. Please fix this. Or we are stuck with Trudeau again. Thanks.
