  1. Its pretty crazy how suddenly this thread about whether I can tow my sled trailer went down this rabbit hole

  3. I remember the year of the No Snow Guarantee. As stated Barrie was the monitoring point. No payout then and I have never heard of anyone ever getting a refund due to no snow or any other reason.... do you get a refund on your vehicle license plate if you don't drive your car. There are lots of people who have been able to get out for a little bit of a ride. Nobody can predict mother nature snowfall accurately well in advance. Now having said that... if someone posts on the internet the OFSC gave refunds in the past then it must be true. After all it's on the internet.

  4. Well we have been "hearing" or reading about guys trucks and trailer apparently getting vandalized by locals.....so who knows.... Anyways, funny enough I just received my car insurance renewal and it is cheaper than last year. Sled was status quo if I recall. House Ins was status quo. Insurance on trailers were status quo as well Plus I received some cheques from my Insurance companies earlier as advertised.

  5. Most are all in and very willing to follow along. Fear is a powerful motivator. Turn on any news channel and you will see that 90% of the broadcast is about, death, sickness, and how to hide. Nowhere do we see healthy eating, immunity building, and an active lifestyle being promoted as the best defense, which it is. This about control, not of a virus, because that cannot happen, but of the population and our freedoms to move freely and congregate, as well as to protest the actions taken by government. We are slowing being beaten into submission where we will eventually be thanking and praising our overlords for the small freedoms they award us if we get on board. The money being printed and borrowed is by design a means in which to limit and remove personal wealth and property. By restricting a large portion of the middle class from staying there and driving into a dependency upon government to survive they are achieving a large increase in those with no means to effect change in government and have autonomy over their own lives. This is just the beginning of what many have seen coming for years. It would not surprise me if it were not by design to have this moderately lethal virus plague the globe. Fear is the enemy.

  7. You are not alone it seems. I have two reliable friends saying the same thing for last season and this. I received a Fall 2020 issue of Supertrax and Ontario Sledding, and I think I read that the later issues would be 'online only'. I could be wrong though because there really isn't enough content in either to capture my attention. Lots of ads and content not of interest to me.

  8. So, I just returned from out west yesterday, now on my way to Edmonton and back on Tuesday, then out to winnipeg and then home for two weeks. Tell me, why is it safe for me to travel all over our country but when I get home I become a diseased pariah not welcome anywhere and not allowed to spend my vacation time sledding. I guess my tractor is magical and can block the virus but my sleds spread it.

  10. I work with COVID patients daily now .. and your age bracket is on point. 50 + years of age .. as you get into the 70 yr bracket plus your chance of survival decreases rapidly. The youngest ive dealt with is 19 yr old but had medical issues prior to contracting.

  12. The last year or two with the horse being boarded out, farrier, vet for shots etc. and miscellaneous feed supplements our average was just under $800 a month for the horse. She still has her horse trailer and is finally agreeing to sell it. She doesn't want to part with her saddles yet and her tack box is chock full of stuff in the garage. If I bring anything new home for boating, fishing or snowmobiling.... well.... that's different.

  13. Don't apologize. I think most of us are similar to what we are thinking right now. We just want to ride, and be left the alone to do so. Period. End of rant.

  14. I called my local health unit today for confirmation of this. They're reply is that there is nothing in the briefs that says we cannot as long as we stay within our health unit area. They also said to carry a mask in case you stop to talk with someone outside of your household, yes wear the mask even when outdoors as an extra precaution beyond the 6' barrier. Also suggested carry your own food and water, and not to stop between your home and where you park your trailer. brian

  16. That’s correct no pay out that year. It was just a total snowfall for season, using Barrie airport for collecting data. Snow just had to fall and not stay either. I forget what number was but was low compared to what Barrie usually gets. Even this if we had a similar deal, would be no pay out either.

  18. If my memory serves the snow level in Barrie deal was called the snow guarantee but like you, I do not believe it ever had to pay out.

  19. Sure they can be selective. Lets see how selective they are when they have hardly any riders in for a weekend are trying to keep the facilities and a restaurant open. Who would be booking cabins? Not likely locals. Boycott!

  20. I'm sorry but our politicians couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag let alone implement a plan like that. My brother believes in things like this and tells me dates it's going to be announced. Nothing ever happens and when I ask him why he just searches in line for the next great announcement.

  24. Quiet on those costs. I spend close to that. Permit, sticker, insurance, repairs & fuel add up. I tell my wife it costs me about $50.

  25. I'm curious because our health unit has already vaccinated 30% of LTC residents with the first dose. If 80% of ICU patients are elderly then I would think the admissions should drastically reduce soon.

  26. Covid cancel culture. It is the fascists decree that you tow the party line or you disappear. The truth is a mere inconvenience when the real goal is total control of the population. Propaganda rules the day.

  27. Why again? Baber, who was born and raised in the Soviet Union and left there as a child, also explores historic ICU occupancy rates in the detailed letter. The province’s ICU beds, a graph in the letter shows, were at 86.66% average daily occupancy in December 2018, 83.51% in December 2019 and 80.84% in December 2020. For the first part of January, it now sits at 81.60%.

  28. Yup Got my 2 sleds back from the dealer. Had a few repairs on one of them. Cost me $1200 to get ready for this year. $380 is only a third of that cost. Add insurance, ~ $400 each and I'm at $2000, so then permit cost is only 20% of my "get ready" costs

  29. The Haliburton Forest can be selective who they will allow in and are not obligated to provide a reason. They can just do it. Just like when a kid asks their parents why and the answer is because.

  35. A women and her mother both fined in Delhi. She dropped her kids off so she could get groceries without having to bring them into the store. Neighbor called the cops when she saw the kids either entering or leaving their grandmother's house. Women actually thought she was being more safe in doing this than exposing her kids and strangers to each other in public. This is simply a sad day in Canada.

  36. I saw some pics from our crew. Fence torn down, sleds going through. Volunteers went that night and put up new fencing and bracing. We (sleddder money) put up those gates to try to control ATV's This land owner has been with us for 30 plus years. A few years ago we decided to move the trail, still on his land, to get out of some water problems, make it more reliable. His reply, yep whatever you need to do, just leave me the trees you have to cut so I can sell it as firewood. Land owners like this are the back bone of our Southern trails. There is an app, for years lol, real time on what is open. Gone are the old days when you just saw the groomer went through and it's open. Stay the F off of closed trails. The goodwill between our club and our land owners has a limit!

  42. If we could ride around home, I would be out all the time but the last time I have ridden from my house was in 2017. We had 2-3 weekends last winter but I was on vacation then. The chances of me getting out more than 1-2x from home this year are slim to nil based on previous years. I honestly think that this will cause a few long time riders (me) to pack it in altogether. Sledding is without a doubt, the most stressful hobby you can do. It is dependent on too many factors outside your control.

  44. I'd say the OFSC has done an admirable job of representing the interests of snowmobile clubs. Also an excellent effort by OFSC to keep sledders generally informed, to the extent possible. THANK YOU

  45. If the person has COVID and dies it is very likely, almost certain that the virus is what caused their death. The person who has a heart condition but is able to live with that heart condition and has done so for many years catches the virus. That person dies because the virus pushes the persons health and ability to deal with that heart condition beyond what their body can handle. Did they die as a result of the virus? I say yes. If not for the virus they would still be alive. I had a conversation with my friend a couple of weeks ago around cause of death for a person. They had a fall about a month earlier and there were health implications in the recovery from that fall but the person was recovering nicely. The person contracted the virus that resulted in a turn around in the recovery and the person passed. What would you say was the cause of death. If not for the virus the person would have fully recovered from the fall.

  47. One of the people I see in the park with his dog when I take our dog out for his afternoon walk is a Coroner. He signs death certificates. I believe I will ask him when I see him this afternoon what his take is on the numbers. Something tells me that those numbers don't include everyone who has died in Ontario. They may have pre-existing conditions that are manageable and they are living with but COVID was what pushed them over the line.

  49. I washed/polished my sleds this am, put stabilizer in the gas, locked up my trailer and put it all in a storage compound. Wont be surprised if I dont see it til next fall. Called my buddy and told him to not let me order a new sled under any circumstance. I have him on the hunt for a new dirt bike for me. I can fiddle with it in my garage for the next 6 weeks getting it ready for the spring. I have a bad feeling that sled season is over for me. I am bummed out big time.
