  1. We rode out of Fergus today, up to Mount forest to the Spot restaurant for breaky. Carried on to Durham, down through Ayton, Harriston, Palmerston, Teviotdale, Arthur and back. Trails were outstanding to say the least! Our club has a shutting all trails down shortly, hopefully they can be saved for another week or so. Left the wife at home today and had a good run with the guys, needed it lol.

  3. Rode out of the cottage again yesterday, a bit of fresh snow made things pretty good. Took my BIL out for his first ever trail ride, he had a blast using the F8. The 2nd pic is our first stop of the morning, and where the appropriate times to stand up on the trail conversation happened maybe a little too much YouTube before our ride. Great trails, weather, and company made for another awesome day. That being said I’d be surprised if the trails around Midland / Wasaga make it through today let alone the next few days. We saw a lot more brown on our way back yesterday afternoon.

  4. Wife and I did 225kms out of belwood again today. Trail we’re absolutely fantastic everywhere we went. Just mint! Stopped at Drayton chop house for lunch. That place has amazing poutines, awesome rock and roll music and just an overall awesome atmosphere. Couldn’t have asked for a better day! The wind really started cutting through us on the way home though, very windy this afternoon. Hoping tomorrow will be less windy. wife wants a castle now...

  7. The owner of the Mack cabover on the post at Gillies starts it up once a year and lets it run for an hour or so. My buddy knows the owner and was up there for the biker weekend the day it was running a few years ago.

  9. Two days with son in Sudbury area. Staying at the Valley Inn. Feel bad for moonlight and Chateau Guay owners - cut off from trails, so we're trying out Azilda lodging. Motel owners are nice. Property is well kept.

  12. If weather is ok you can take trail 11 across top of hailburton, saves lots of time taking lake route, instead of B. Just depends how much time you have and what trail conditions are like.

  15. Those xcr’s are very reliable. I put 13,000 trouble free miles on my 1994 440 xcr. One of best sleds I have ever owned. Loved big fuel tank on it too.

  16. had a great ride today out of Apsley. down to Stoney, across Kassabog, up to Chandos, Paudash ( missed the right turn to Malcolm Road so ended up riding the side of the road up to E110) thru Cardiff, across Baptiste, then up to the E and back thru Harcourt and back to Apsley. Trails were great! Especially Stoney Lake and Maple Leaf. About 260 kms. Lots of people out enjoying the day.

  17. Misery likes company - try these two events of mine: 2008 – 2004 GSX – Blow Piston Day 1 coming into Timmins (Sunday Family day weekend) Take the Bus to Kirkland Lake to get truck (gave up trying to hitch hike); Drive back to Timmins to get sled (Family Day weekend dealers closed); Couple guys at hotel help me load busted sled in trailer; Drive back to KL – dealer answers phone on holiday Monday; KL dealer confirms blown piston – rents me sled; Trailer with rental to Cochrane – sled to Kap to meet crew Resume trip – somewhat; Sled and Trailer to KL to return rental. 2010 – 2004 GSX - Blow Piston Day 2 15Km south of Abitibi Canyon Had sled at dealer pre-season for injector cleaning – swears eliminates 600SDI piston issues – but doesn’t get it done before trip, tells me to come back after the trip for cleaning; Day 2 leaving Canyon Base camp – piston alley (but only about 10K into it – loose a piston; Bro and I wait for group to notice we dropped off; Group noticed (eventually) - lead turns back – runs out of fuel – buys fuel from other sledders who tell them we are way back; Lead then turns back to Smooth Rock as group is now scattered; Bro tows me back to Canyon camp, fills up, says cheers, and heads to Smooth Rock; Daughter of Canyon camp owner gets permission from dad to let boyfriend leave her there alone and drive me to Cochrane; Boyfriend and I lift sled in back of his HIGH pick-up truck – pay him to take me to Cochrane; We drop my sled in boyfriend’s front yard; Canyon camp owner finds me a driver and car to drive me to New Liskeard to get my trailer and SUV (pay him – and I drive down so he only has to drive back); I dig out SUV and trailer and drive back to Cochrane; At 11PM, I’m trying to load my busted sled into trailer – manhandling – finally pull a plug and drive it on with one good piston; Drive thru snow storm to get to KAP to rejoin group as my son is with them, arrive 1:30AM; Next morning, walk into Yamaha dealer and buy a 2010 Apex, has it put together by noon. Following two years the two other 600SDI’s blow pistons – we all now ride Yamaha. I can easily deal with the Yamys being difficult to start at -34c compared to two strokes just waiting to fail. (Yes, I know someone has 20K on his two-stroke with no issues - glad to hear it.) I miss that APEX, but my surgery shoulders enjoy the Vector and power steering more! Other funny part was that I came home and said "happy Valentines day honey" - she asked if I got my sled painted! Visa bill came in after!

  18. I maintain them well and ride them until the repair doesn't make economical sense. That's the main reason I'm on a four stroke now.

  19. Got moving solo from port around 10:30am, trails were smooth but loose, headed down to Baysville, topped up with fuel. Stopped at the warm up shack, then continued on to Dorset, a little thin in spots still. Hopped on LOB to 76, excellent shape! Super fun trail! Made my way up d101 to 102 to 95, almost seemed it wasnt groomed last night but still decent. Quite a few people in this section riding the wrong side! Piss me off! Also i dont give a flying #%ck about your hand signals while your riding down the middle of the trail, just get the hell over on your side! This includes the slower touring riders. I wear a tekvest on weekends now because of this. Crossed the hwy on 93 and made my across 82 to D trail. A little rough and thin at the start but got better closer you get to D. Sled threw up a p1004 code, kinda crapped out. Sat around for a bit, fired it back up and all was fine. Had the hood off yesterday so maybe a wire is pinched or something. Hopped on D in great shape and made my way back to port sydney without issue. 240 km. Only 2 pics today.

  20. Wife and I have done this trip several times in the past 2 years from Bonfield area and found it a fairly easy ride as long as the trails are reasonably groomed which they usually are. We did Bonfield to Temagami and back same day about 2 weeks ago. Only part of this trip we both dont look forward to are the 10 miles of trail immediately north of Temagami once you get off the lake on the north side of Temagami. Even if groomed this part of the trail is twisty just like Muskoka and is tiring. However once you clear that section the long stretch on the other side of hiway 11 is your reward as it is wide and straight until the bit of trail about 5 miles south of Latchford where it gets a bit twisty again. Twice last year the wife and I did Bonfield to Latchford and back same day. We are not breaking an speed records, just steady running with only a few stops. Hope you get a sunny day to really enhance your ride.
