So been reading this site for years now and saw the post about middle aged mid-week rides and thought to myself...this sound perfect, I'm signing up. Riding alone a little too often.

Anyway, I live in rural Stouffville and have been a motorhead sense the young age of 5 y/o. Started racing mx in the late seventies and gave up/slowed way down the mx riding in 2004 once we had kids. 2 young boys of 19 and 21 with a very supportive wife, especially when it come to off-road additions. We have a small dirtbike track and small sled loop at home which we all enjoy on occasion.

Started off my career as a Cartographer (Map maker)then went to GIS (Geographic Information Systems). Worked in both the Natural Resources area as well the corporate area building systems... BTW working with fish, wildlife, forestry, wildfires, resource exploration was way more rewarding than tracking people and $. Then started a contracting business working with heavy machinery doing driveways, hardscaping, septic systems, cottage country shoreline rehab etc. (Learned all this when was 15-22 yo old working with same guy while going to high school and to be map maker at Fleming College, School of Natural Resources, Lindsay.

Don't like large crowds much except maybe at a music venue. Love and listen too allot of music from Country to Heavy Rock, youngest boy is a very established musician (guitar, bass, drums), Other son cant get enough of car stuff and already has moved out with girlfriend at young age of 21. Youngest son goes to York U at the new Markham campus is able to live at home. Not into politics much and certainly will not engage in any debates. Have had cottages for past 20 years, mainly for investment but also allowed for the family to enjoy the outdoors while I generally would be working on them. Would get them nice then we would sell and be on the hunt for another fixer-upper which also meant new trail systems to explore.

When it comes to riding I ride a ton of Greens Mountain area and consistently guide groups in the area mostly on the quads and the occasional enduro. I ride my sled there too, mostly mid week rides when condition are suitable and most times alone but have a few buddies that take a day off and jump in the mix. Enjoy riding in the north from Orillia to NorthBay. (would love to ride further North once find a group that's a good fit and doesn't mind a new guy jumping in the mix) Quite a bit of South River riding but mostly just chase snow conditions. Wife had a sled but was getting frustrated because did not want to hold anyone up. I purchased a 2-Up seat, and re-sprung my sled and she enjoys coming out a few times a year but also doesn't mind hangin out at the hotel/motel especially if there is a pool that she can chill at.

Anyway, there's more but not to bore. Look forward to getting to know a few more sled people and hit up some o those mid-week rides. All the best. Mapguy

Hello everyone, just joined up. I stubbled across this site after searching for 'vintage sleds muskoka', I ride in D10 since 2010 or so, Parry Sound area. First trail machine was a 1980 Ski-doo Citation SS with a swapped suspension. Suffered through 4 seasons with it. Current ride is a 2002 Vmax 600 146" for my daily. Almost every machine I've owned. I couldn't leave stock.

Hi all - thanks for the add to the forum which was recommended to me at the Toronto snowmobile show. I am a retired miner most recently back to Canada from South America looking to get into snowmobiling to help pass the winters. The advice here about renting machines has been helpful as I will likely rent this year and purchase the next.

Good day folks....my wife and I are getting into sledding this year.....

We have a lake front cottage on Pigeon lake just south of the sand bar.

Were wondering if its worth joining a local club and if lake running on Pigeon lake has any boundary makers or sled maps we can research ...

Ideally we will probably not venture far until we know the area or get some solid info...

Hello All, went sledding with a buddy on his wife's sled last winter from Komoka and got the bug. I bought two sleds an a trailer and have yet to use them. We live in Byron (London) and I am hoping we can get some direction on where to ride this weekend with the shortest drive possible. I downloaded the go snowmobiling app so I am comfortable heading to unfamiliar trails. I just need some help with where to go that will give us parking for the truck with close proximity to approved trails. We are both experienced MX riders so we are good with more challenging trails if there are any. I just would prefer not to have to drive hours and hours to go for a rip.

Hey guys! This is my second year owning a snowmobile but I am still an amateur with no knowledge of them. I bought a turn key formula 3 600 last season for a steal, and sold it to my buddy this fall (I was stupid) regretted it the first snowfall, and so I went out and grabbed a 94 grand touring SE 670. Now the bad: It was hard to start, I believe this was due to buddy not having the gas on the start, and once realizing his mistake, he only pulled the primer out twice, after a while it started but it died after letting off the throttle, he tried again and it fired and stayed running perfectly. I checked and there was only fumes left for gas, and the gas was from last year. I am thinking if I remove the plugs and swap, remove the old gas and put new premium in, clean the RAVE valves, and replace the chain case oil it should go. Now, how hard is changing the chain case oil on these machines and whats the likely hood that I screw it up taking the chain case cover off. I really dont wanna bugger my machine so I was thinking maybe best to try and suck it out the fill port (Somehow?) RAVE valves look pretty easy to remove and clean after watching a video. Is there anything else that I should be looking out for? Thanks guys! Already bought my trail permit (Didnt trail ride last year just used it for ice fishing simcoe) so I am pumped to try out the trail riding side of things.

Been sledding for many years with Turbo Doo, and remembering a few conversations with Mr Sledjunk, with him encouraging me to join the forums, here I am. We both know he would have loved to have been around to see this. Looking forward to posting stuff, meeting some of you fellow OC Members, and of course, keeping Turbo Doo in line around here..

Been in Canada nearly 40 years and am almost ashamed to admit I have never been on a snowmobile, so basically know very little about them. At our age we are not interested in speed just comfort, reliability and safety. We have been fortunate enough to acquire a cottage up north that is water access only and need a sled to get to it in the winter. Most likely buying a Polaris Indy 550. What advice do you knowledgeable folks out there have for my wife and I? Will have about a 2 mile run on the lake ( OFSC trail goes right by the place so if trail is open I assume it is safe to ride) pulling a sled. Not, at this time, planning on doing any trails, though that might change quickly if we find we really like snowmobiling. Thanks.

Hi Folks, have been following the site for a while so I thought I would join. I am relatively new to sledding started two years ago at a later age I am 56, now have two sleds and it has been a great way to get out and enjoy winter and see amazing places and meet a lot of new people. I got my family riding as well, 3 out of 4 anyway. Last year put on 5000km, so I guess I am officially hooked, about 1600km so far this year. Looking forward to a long safe season...

	Hey Everyone

Just wanted to say hey to everyone. I'm getting back into sledding this year, I haven't had a sled in about 5 years and it has been killing me! I moved to Ottawa from Niagara a few years ago so am still new to this area and haven't been on any of these trails before.

I will definitely be looking for advice of where to ride, where to stage and maybe find some riding buddies as well. I am located a few mins from the airport, have an enclosed trailer to transport.

Also, super happy about this early snow to the extent of annoying all my winter hating friends! Happy riding!

	Kyle
