Staging / Parking Areas for St. Clements Area Trails

You may or may not know that the St. Clements Snowmobile Clubhouse and property was recently sold. Unfortunately the new owner will no longer be allowing snowmobiles or Staging / Parking on the property. If you are looking for a place to Stage / Park while riding the St. Clements area trails we have arranged permission for riders to Stage / Park at the Waterloo Rod and Gun Club as well as at the Linwood Community Centre. Both of these locations are located very close to the trail for easy access. Please refer to the Interactive Trail Guide for the locations of these parking areas. The trail 5-72 has been rerouted behind the old Clubhouse and will still allow riders access to the St. Clements area trails as usual. The ITG will be updated shortly showing the reroute. A BIG THANK YOU to our Valuable Landowners for allowing us to reroute the trail on their properties.

Our St. Clements trails have been open for more than 5 weeks. I'm told it may have been 8 years since our trails have been open that long in a season and its still snowing!

Thank you to our Groomer Captain Darrell Sauder and the groomer operators for doing so much with so little snow.

Sounds like Ed has sold St clements snowmobile clubhouse property and new owners are letting snowmobile club continue for another year or two it seems.
Thank-you Ed for many years of providing us sledders a nice spot to stop and chat with other sledders and enjoy great food. Hope to see you on trails this winter and I am sure you will still be in club house helping for next few years too as always!

TRAILS CLOSED

Nearly all clubs in Western Ontario west of highway 6 have closed their trails until the weather gets cold again and/or until we get more snow. There's a lot of red on the ITG now.

St. Clements trails have a lot of dirt showing especially on plowed fields. There is not a lot of snow cover on the fields that have winter crops planted and we need to protect our landowners investment. Hopefully we can get the trails opened again later this week.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED.... This is a 100% volunteer run event, so please be a sweetie and clean up/dispose of your dinner garbage in the various recycle and garbage bins around the room. When we work together we are one.

Join our club Membership - $10 per family - check your emails or ask at the club for a form. Membership gets you free season parking at the clubhouse to drop and ride as well as first notice by email when trails will be open. AND...you get to belong to a fantastic group of fun people!

Volunteer of the Year

Big Shout Out to Ed Brenner for being awarded District 5 "Volunteer of the Year"at the OFSC AGM 2018 tonight.

"Ed Brenner has been an etremely active volunteer with our club every year since its inception in the late 60's. However the 2017/2018 Season has proven to be one of Ed's most active year ever.

Accomplishments and involvements this season included: Coordinating a trail reroute that involved several new landowners as well as the relocating of a very important bridge and installation of a new culver on Top trail B203 between St Clements and Linwood.

Ed spent numerous hours/days land levelling plowed fields to help provide a smooth trail surface for our riders. Ed not only land leveled our club trails but he helped complete levelling for two neighbouring clubs as well.

This guys is a machine...at 73 years of age! Now that the stakes were all in place Ed volunteered several 12 hour days as a Groomer Operator to get our trails opened and maintained this season however short it was.

In addition to all the Trail work Ed completed this year, he also volunteers countless hours maintaining and cleaning our Clubhouse. Our club hosts monthly fundraising "wing Nights" from September to March. Ed makes sure the kitchen equipment is spotless before and after each wing night. As well, he maintains and cleans up during the riding season when our Clubhouse is open. Ed also maintains the club parking lot by packing and clearing snow so vehicles can get in to park for events and snowmobile launching. As you have read Ed Brenner is an invaluable volunteer not only for our Club but for the betterment of Snowmobiling in our riding area and is more than deserving of the District recognition as Volunteer the Year"... submitted by Brad Walden, SCSC Trail Master
