The MSR clubs did a great job of making the trails perfect even though I thought it was going to be a bust last week . We had to trailer to Emsdale Thursday to ride but it was perfect, and with the Friday snow we were able to go anywhere right from Port Sydney. Thankyou club volunteers and also the landowners for making this years sled trip another success. Hopefully one more trip to North Bay southshore in March with the grandkids.

Hi All. Myself and my wife are newbies when it comes to OFSC trails. We have rented a cottage east of Bracebridge close to Conway cres. on highway 118.

As I review the OFSC trail map it would appear trail D 103B is the closes trail to the location. As I am new to the trail system, can anybody inform how to access this trail?

Is there another trail that is more accessible keeping in mind we would like to sled to the trail, trying to stay away from trailering the machines.

	Tks!

On the drive home from up north I noticed near Dorset, that on the east side of Hwy 35 where #60 used to cross, that a large pile of brush and flagging tape was in place. I checked the ITG & there is no indication of a trail existing there. Was this a new development? I've been thru there a few times this winter, but the 1st time I noticed the 'blockage'.

Can anyone provide insights on how Lake Muskoka is if I got on at the end of MSR32 (Indian Head) and ride essentially along the shoreline towards Touchstone? Touchstone is essentially on the lake by the golf course on the left side of this image.

Alternatively I could run Ziska Road from C102D but it looks relatively far and likely no snow on the shoulders.

Anybody "in the know" whether any trails might open up in the Bracebridge area this weekend? (Dec 15/16?)

We were thinking of possibly trailering up from the Kingston area. A friend has a kid in a snowcross event on Sunday and we were thinking about attending.

Have heard there was lots of snow, just wondering if they are grooming yet?

WOW just amazing the job that these clubs have done!!! THANK YOU !!!! We rode two days in D8 and the trails were at the worst a 7/10 and the best 10/10 (of course). We were amazed at how well the trails were. Groomer was out each day we were out. Trails were holding very well. Perfect conditions. Did I say THANK YOU?? Yes I did and will over an over.

Our first day we rode from the 204-B105C-C-B-204 on Wednesday. Trails were an 8/10. Thursday we rode 204-B105C-B-C-B-416-B-C-B105C-204. Trails were mainly 10/10 only trail that was 7/10 was the C trail in the WINDY areas LOL. Wasn't due to anything else but the wind!! Great job.

We ate lunch on Wednesday at the Waubashene Legion and the food was great. The HUGE home made burgers were fabulous!!! They're open 11:30am to 9pm Tuesday to Saturday. Closed Sunday Monday.

On Thursday we decided to meet up with some fellow OCer's in Phelpston at the NEW Sicily North (old Phelpston Restaurant). Honestly the PIZZA was the best Pizza I have eaten in the North. It was a 10/10 just like the trails!! Blake, Nunz and his better half Karen were outside the restaurant when we arrived, said it was closed, doors are locked. Well, Nunz called them and knocked on the door. And what to our wonderous eyes did appear. A super nice couple that asked if we were hungry. Well HECK YES we replied. They opened the doors, gave us some menus than served us some beverages. We ordered a large pizza for all of us and a few people had soup or salad also. Absolutely no frozen food here. Even our buddies NUNZ and BLAKE (our food connoisseurs) gave the meal two thumbs up.

The SICILY NORTH is open Tuesday to Thursday from 4:30pm to 9pm. Friday - Sunday 4:30pm to 10pm. As long as there is snow on the ground they will open at 11a.m. to serve you. For sledders they will open their doors and gladly serve you up an AWESOME LUNCH. Phone 705-322-1544 or just knock on the door. Everything is home made!!!

Just saw this online this morning,

This is horrible news for the area and a critical link for the Muskoka area...

ASC Trail Update, February 13, 2016
URGENT TRAIL CLOSURE INFORMATION

As a disclaimer this email is MY personal views and opinion and NOT those of the OFSC, District 7, the Muskoka Snowmobile Region or the Algonquin Snowmobile Club or their Executive.

...

Sorry to say we had to close a critical part of trail on our system tonight. Trail D101B from the ASC Shelter to the D101B / 74 Junction is closed due to a Landowner issue with the Bill 100. This section eliminates access from Dorset to Dwight. With Lake of Bays not safe or staked its a huge a problem.

Due to this trail closure it impacts the following.

Sledders coming from the Dorset area will not be able to come to the Dwight Winter Carnival on Saturday.

Sledders from the Dwight / Oxtongue Lake area will not be able to attend the Dorset Lions Camp / Tall Pines Poker Run on Saturday.

Sledders will not be able to support our sponsoring businesses in Dwight from the south and Dorset from the north on the busiest sledding weekend of the season. Mother Nature has done plenty of hardship to our supporters and now this.

Sledders doing the RAP TOUR (Ride Around Algonquin Park) cannot complete or start their trip as the alternate route has closures too due to the weather.

Over the years we have had plenty of Landowner concerns which we have been able to resolve by relocating trails or adding bridges and gates. We have a resolution to this issue to be done next year but with the short notice cannot do it as we will need MNR approval which is the plan for the Spring.

Attached is a Press Release from the Ontario Trails Council about the Bill 100 Landowner concerns.

This Bill could take years to be passed and in my personal opinion there was no urgency to close this trail today. Again this is just my personal opinion.

What really upsets me is this Landowner is a prominent Business owner and past ASC Supporter serving the Dwight, Dorset and Lake of Bays area.

We will resolve this issue but it won't happen tomorrow. Sorry to be the barer of bad news.
