  1. Today
  2. I keep the tax savings. My dealer charges me $200 per sled to run them through and the buyer pays $149 licensing fee plus his taxes
  3. Do you spilt some of savings with buyer or do yoy keep it all. Does dealer add on a pass thru fee of some sort too to cover there time? Thanks
  4. Yesterday
  5. The dealer I normally deal with has no problem running a sled through them but he also hasn’t been taking trades . He doesn’t sell X3 s SXS so I bought from another dealer they would take my sled on trade at a ridiculous low price plus the new sled was 400 more and would not let me run my sled through them .
  6. I usually trade at dealer as it saves on taxes, hassle free and you dont have to worry about buyer not switching out of your name. Last time though, I had a Cat and Doo dealer told me straight up they did not want to take on trade, it had 16Km on it. Put it on FB market place and priced right, I was glad to sell and buyer was happy with price, all worked out in the end.
  7. Some just don't want to do it for a few reasons. A few guys on here seem to do it often and dealers co-operate. Anything to save some taxes when purchasing a new one that's for sure. Also makes sure no liens on it for buyer.
  8. Grass is starting to green up. Hoping for a trip up Thursday, for a long weekend. Need to spring clean, rake, fertilize, weed n feed, the lawn. We haven't been up since Valentine's. Hoping for a long summer, like last year... Went to the 3rd week in October. Ski
  9. Hmmmm, the couple I was at I mentioned it and they looked at me like I had 3 heads lol.
  10. Dealers here in Ontario do it as well.
  11. That is what all the Quebec guys do. The dealers call it "sale by accommodation"
  12. I’ve sold my last 10 sleds private but run them through the dealer to save on the tax it’s worked well so far but getting tougher to sell them . The one I sold this spring really surprised me only took one day to sell .
  13. 1005 - and the good dealers are usually just honest with you - they know what they have already - what else is coming in - and what they think they can realistically move. Having a good relationship with your dealer is important in a lot of ways. Running around all over the province to make a deal and save $300.00 doesn't always pan out in the long run.
  14. 100% - case in point, when I sold by last sled, dealer offered half of what I sold private for, he even suggested that route....sold in one day if I recall, but that was also with the silly covid clause in play. Seasons change, it all plays a role for sure.
  15. Yes, if you have a good trade and a good dealer who can give you fair dollar because they are able to move it - it usually makes sense for me to trade. I have never lost anything by trading - but have also done okay by selling private. I take it one unit at a time and see where things are at and how my own time is looking, do the math, and make the decision.
  16. It's defiantly harder to be ahead with same 13 percent as dealers now. Before hst there was an extra 5 percent to work with.
  17. Last week
  18. It really is a win win, if it’s a fair offer…..with less hassles and headaches, if that is worth it to you to have less hassles in life…. you save the decreased amount offered in taxes you save on new vehicle that you wouldn’t see on private sale. dealer makes that money as profit when they sell based on market value that keeps the wheel greased. rinse and repeat….
  19. I usually trade to save the hassle too always been treated fairly at dealer with values
  20. That's true usually I make 5k more then trade. I always do it ahead of time. Can't get what I want trade it in 😎. Now I just seem to keep them forever mostly and see how far they go. Our average family vehicle age is 18.3 years at moment.
  21. Your time isn’t free, all the waiting around, showing, haggling etc etc, at a point, the wasted time and effort isn’t worth having it gone and moving on.
  22. 27 not a bad deal I take that. 1k is 1k. That's at least a week of work for most people.
  23. Sometimes people forget to do the simple math and work the 2 options out.
  24. Another reason to get things gone - dealing with the stupidity of selling anything on the various online platforms. One of the other good things forums can be great for, the buy and sell section.
  25. 3k on taxes and not had to deal with kijiji or Facebook marketplace BS - priceless
  26. People get caught up in the what it is worth to me vs. what it is worth to others/market can bear......the latter of the two will usually see success, the first, not so much...... I was just talking to a friend who is selling a used vehicle, they are stuck on 27K mark for it, dealer offered 23K when they bought their new one......stupid thing is they would have saved almost 3K in taxes on the trade in......lol.
  27. Good job. I noticed market is flooded with used atv's people are trying to get rid of. Might be a good time to replace my 2011 or keep it as a back up bike. It gets used almost every day here on farm.
  28. Thats it right there. If your priced fair in a current market, serious buyers know it and not so inclined to try beating you up. They know if they do, they get shown the door.
