North bay lakes?

Baylaker

Recommended Posts

Heading to north bay this weekend, looking at the map all the lakes are in yellow status condition. Does anybody know how well they held up  after that warmer weather? I know there was a lot of water and slush on them recently, but wondering if that cold snap tightened this back up..thanks

If the lakes are like Sudbury you will be fine.

Here they all firmed up nice.

We were in Bonfield on Sunday and Monday. No slush but there is very little snow cover on the lakes so you need scratchers and studs. More snow around the shores of the lakes but makes for a longer trip to cover the lake. The stakes lines are very rough from the running while the lakes were soft.  couple of inches of snow and it will be great again. Trails are in excellent shape. Just need to watch for those water holes that develop once it gets warm and the water starts to flow.

Grooming is starting to be backed off depending on the area. After the rain we started to get some water in certain areas and none of the local clubs are interested in getting a groomer buried after such a great season. The end is near but the trails are in pretty good shape for the most part with the odd wet spot so use caution.

Would you recommend riding down into port loring from NB? Or should we stay away from that area?

Some lakes looked wet today driving thru north bay to Cochrane

Hoping things tighten up more tonight and tomorrow night. Supposedly down to -15 over night.
