Chateau Guay or Moonlight which is Better

A search on here will reveal both are good - the Moonlight has a better variety of rooms I think - small kitchen units. The condition of the trail from the motel to main trails would be a bigger concern.

The Trail out of those hotels is the worst trail I've ever been on in Ontario.

Apparently they can't get a groomer down there.

Can't or Won't?  The trail was decent to there 5 or 6 years ago.  It is rough terrain, but the 3 foot moguls we experienced last year had nothing to to with the terrain.  No groomer for two weeks!

Both about the same, the Chateau has the restaurant attached to it, but the moonlight is right beside it, so mabye a 200' walk to the restaurant from the moonlight hotel. There is only a small side street seperating the two. Both places have good reviews, I know the food at the chateau Guay is great.

Gas is about 1.5km at Bob's Petro Canada right on highway 17, the trail goes behind it. Both places are usually full with Sledders in the winter.

Tim Hortons is just up the street as well.

We have stayed at the Moonlight several times in the past few years, Spend the extra 20 bucks and get a Suite, We typically eat our breakfast and dinners at the Chateau Guay that we support both businesses. As mentioned above Gas is close by and Royal is close by in the event of needing anything.

The trail is brutal coming and going but once on the main trails they were in great shape a couple of weeks ago.

Hope this helps.

We've been fortunate not to arrive @ the same lodgings on our trips over the years. W/ our luck we'd be booked into adjacent rooms.

I do recall seeing him & the missus on the trail near Opaz' as we were riding along. No 'entourage' accompanying him.

I think you shouldve used this emoji:

then ducked.

No offence to the Moonlight, but wouldnt the Chateau Guay be better w/ the on site restaurant?

We were to stage @ 1 of the places in 2010. However the contacted us to say that conditions were not great. We could cancel w/ no repercussions.

I think NN would give 2 thumbs up for staging to some of the less than stellar motels on Lakeshore in North Bay.
