End of an Era

Sold mother's sled and the buyer picked it up today.

Her 1st sled was a new Elan:

which she had for 1 weekend LOL. A couple more 'doos 300 Oly & a '79 300 Citation which she really liked. Since 'doo didn't make a smaller 'proper' sled when it was time to replaced it, she jumped ship to Poo & bought a '92 Indy Lite. Another Indy Lite & then a Indy 340:

(not sure of the year). After piling up the miles on it she hesitantly got a 2003 550 Indy Classic. She was unsure of how she'd like it as it was the largest 'physically' that she'd be riding. Turns out she never had a problem w/ it. A few trips to the Calabogie area, a RAP tour & a Apsley to Parry Sound trip to rack up just over 6,000 miles on it.

She only got out twice the last 2 winters what w/ the lousy weather & the !@#^show getting out of Apsley when we do have snow. I asked her if she wanted to get a trail permit for her sled when I was ordering mine. She said she'd think about it. A couple of days later she said no and that she'd be ready to sell it.

A couple of pics from last season's ride:

She's 84 & has always been an outdoors person. I guess it goes w/ growing up there. The folks never had any interest in going south during the winter.

You mentioning those sleds, I laughed once when someone was wishing for the good ole days. I'm pretty sure they weren't born before the OFSC trail permits went into effect across the province.

A sad day but it sounds like your mom got to ride for a lot of years.  I hope I'm still riding when I get to her age.

Clyde & Isobel Saunders were in their 80s when they retired from the sport.
