Not trying to thread jack, but didn't want to start a new one for this question.

Looking to stay between Cochrane and Kap so we can ride the Canyon one day and then Kaps local trails another day and then heading home. Only up Mar 2&3.

Ive seen you guys suggest Moose Motel in Smooth Rock? That still a decent place to stay and its near the trails?

Buddies stayed at the Moose last weekend in SRF - it has heated garage for the sleds at night. They said it was pretty good.

Thanks! were booked in from Thursday night to Sunday morning at the Moose

Might as well book rooms  in January for late Feb/ March sledding.

Thanks for heads up.

I know that there are hockey tournaments for the next 3 weekends in kap.

We rode into Cochrane from the south on the A last Friday and it was smooth. Heard Friday night about how bad the trail to Smooth Rock was. Rode to Hearst on Saturday and the trails to Moonbeam and beyond were awesome. Monday we rode from Kap to Timmins via the A and L103 out of Cochrane and 90% of the trails were mint. The C into Timmins Monday and the A111C out of Timmins to the A yesterday morning were absolutely flat.

Depending on your type of accommodations, there are other options in Kap.  If all you need is a clean room without all the fancy stuff, (hot tubs, etc.) I recommend the Advantage Motel at the west end of town.  There is a good restaurant next door and the rates are less than many others.

Papa Franco's isn't open on Monday.

TOP A south to L103 was in good shape this afternoon. A106C was OK other than a detour recently dozed thru the bush.
