Difference is that our free weekend was the long Family Day weekend that was already busy with paying riders. The add the free riders and the trails were beat badly. They finally listened and changed the dates.

This is a good thing. Too many people not buying permits and just riding free weekends in Quebec or Ontario. Use to be people starting as early as friday too, so getting in four days without buying a permit.

A regular weekend is fine with me and they can still ride a few days on family day weekend by buying a 2 day pass for 70 bucks.

Thank you for the info! Yes the only closed trails are directly in town (ie the 63), everything else is open and north should be good conditions. Just thought we would maybe skip some of the not so good stuff closer to town and trailer little bit more north to start.

Mont-Laurier area is a nice trailering distance away from Ottawa, not too close but not too far.

Out on the trails today in Ottawa and surprisingly better than anticipated.

Osgoode club is doing an awesome job this year. Kudo to those guys.

Carleton groomed today, no status change on the itg.

CRSC trails are limited now, just delayed on the ITG it seems. Fields are pretty bare last couple days but in the bush better.

Trying to get out again tomorrow before trailering to Mont Laurier before that rain next week.

Heading out soon.

I saw stubble in the groomed path along Earl Armstrong.

Fingers X'd  for snow Monday...

Just came back from Swisha and the fellow there said people rode down from Temiskaming and said the trails were fantastic.

We may go tomorrow if brother-in-law get here early enough of Sunday.

They are calling for 10-15cm Monday and another 10cm on Tuesday for our area.

It really depended on the area in relation to the path of the rain. It passed just S of Mont. Laurier.  When you're dealing with HILLS, you don't have the same issues as with flatland trails.

Praying for snow, Ian..

Amazing riding this past weekend north of Mont Laurier. Piled on just over 520km on Saturday and Sunday. Fresh groomed trails starting Saturday morning with a few cm's of new snow from Friday night. The more north we kept going the riding kept getting better and better. Maybe passed a total of 12 sleds all weekend on the trails, which was shocking.  Great job by Wood Runner Trails up there. Top notch operation. Will absolutely be returning.
