Big Pussy
Dave, Looks like someone in your area needs a fleecing. In Timmins before the turn of this century, if they caught the guy, they would drag him behind the stolen sled for a while. I got this info first hand from an ex-co-worker who grew up in Timmins. We live in a slap on the wrist society.... court will be a long way off. The Criminal Code allowed sentence credits of 2-to-1 for each day in pre-trial custody, sometimes even rising to 3-to-1 in exceptional circumstances. but the federal Conservatives argued the justice system had become too soft on criminals at the expense of victims. They knocked the credit down to a day-for-a-day, or 1-to-1. The maximum credit allowed would be only 1.5 days credit for a day served pre-sentence. When the perpetrator goes to court and is found guilty then sentenced he would likely be sent home with time served already exceeding the sentence. We got broken into many years ago. At that time it was 2 to 1 for pre trial custody. We spoke to the prosecutor when the guy was coming to trial and asked what he thought the guy would get. They had him for about 8 break-ins. He laughed when we thought 2 years less a day. He explained that when they knew they were guilty they purposely delayed going to trial since they knew the actual time would be cut in half for pre trial 2 to 1. manotickmike
Ah, be nice. He probably had a hard childhood, and was bullied in school. No doubt the feds have a program in place to help him see the error of his ways, with poetry, and meditation.
Dave K
You can trace it back to his kiddie kicker soccer coach who yelled at him to run after the ball instead of picking dandelions, and then had the nerve to not give him a participant trophy at the end of the season. Poor kid has never been the same since.
