thetorches
Haliburton forest is opening up Fri. Dec. 15. Is it worth going there.
Canuck
Mixed reviews on early season/ late season sledding. Issue seems to be ' accuracy of trail condition reports'. No refund. I've had 3 boxing day rides but was fortunate with weather ( cold / snow). Stayed overnight on-site twice ( basic, clean). Stayed down the rode in local motel once. Restaurant is very good. Do your homework. How many trails are open? Trail conditions? If breaking in a sled or some other compelling reason to get early season start ...try it. Unique experience. Wimpy
I went last year with a few from the forum. Was good for breaking in the new sled. I plan on going next week during the week, as I’m sure the weekend will be packed.

stoney
It is nice to scratch that itch early on, but gets old fast. Main trails are basically all cottage gravel roads, so no different than riding a gravel road full of snow anywhere else. Been a few years since I have been, but it always amazed me at how far guys would drive for some early season riding. I would make sure you fill up with gas before you get to the forest though.... Did he convince you to buy a "half seat" sled? I'll need a spreadsheet soon, to keep track of sled migration.
