irREVerent
Here's my new ride, picked up in October...MXZ Blizzard 900ACE, with RMotion 129" skid. I finally got around to taking some pics today... Comes pretty well-equipped, so it's mostly stock, but I did add a few extras...a full-body skid plate, a heated visor plug, a 12V outlet, mirrors, more aggressive carbides, adjustable toe-holds in the foot-wells, and a higher windshield for those long rides on cold days in the north. Moved my LINQ brackets and cargo bag clips over from my previous sled, so I could re-use the touring bags shown in a couple of the pics below. I also installed a couple of sledjunk's posts on the skis to allow the use of my existing Blizzer ice scratchers. Bring on the cold and snow...! All ready for our saddle-bagging trips... . I had a liner in mine last winter along with the 12 V plug. The phone was warm until I put it in the glovebox. It froze and wouldn't take a charge. Took it back inside in the heat and it charged right away. You need a bag heater in the glovebox if you want to keep electronics in there.

I always put my phone in a wool sock and just put it in my inside pocket close to my chest. Never drains and always stays warm...just make sure you go out with a full charge. skidooboy
1 hour ago, zrtkat said: SKI looks like a pretty big job converting your bike ?????? post some pics when completed Greg Greg, it is actually not as bad as it looks. you remove the rear shock and swing arm as an assembly from the bike, and install the rear skid in that location. then remove the front wheel, and install the spindle and ski. the hardest part is, all of the stuff you must do to prevent over fueling due the cold temps (especially on an efi bike). they need a thermostat installed to control temps when cold, to keep the bike at operating temp, and in deep snow due to saturation, an engine blanket, protector, to keep the snow and cold out, and the warmth in. as they do not have a thermostat in dirtbike form. you have to add heated grips. they only have a 2-3 gallon tank so, you are not touring on these at all. they were made to go to a play area, play, refuel, and play, then load and go home. Not trying to hijack the forum, but I've been looking for a solution of that sort. Here are some pics from the same sort of post installation on my previous sled....behind the ski spindle, on the inside rib of the ski. The only difference on my new sled is that I mounted the posts on the inside of the rib, instead of the outside, so they would be a little more "protected" behind the spindle. This first pic shows the post with a protective vinyl cap in place, when the scratcher is not being used. n my Here's another one showing the post (with cap in place), from a different angle: Here's one of the post without the cap in place; the post is aluminum, and the hardware is stainless steel: Here are 3 pics with the scratchers installed on the posts; the Blizzers are attached to mounts which slide down over the posts and are held in place by a small "P-style" locking clip, same as the type used on the pin for your trailer hitch draw-bar: Hope that helps, signfan. Send sledjunk a PM if you are interested in more information on installation and/or availability.

I do have the glovebox liner, to keep the snow dust out, but so far, I haven't bothered with the extension or the 3W heater. If necessary, I can just leave my phone or GoPro connected to the USB adapter I leave plugged into the the 12V outlet.

Never had a problem with it losing charge due to cold.

02Sled
There is a goggle storage compartment on our sleds that is just below the instrument cluster and gets quite a bit of engine heat. I imagine I could store the phone in there but inside the jacket works just fine. I'm also thinking that in a worst case scenario like the sled going through the ice, I would still have the phone if it's in my inside pocket but if it's in a compartment on the sled it's gone if I needed to call for help.
