For the past 10 years a group of us have been going to Quebec once a year for our sled trip. over the years we have seen most of the different regions in Quebec. Last year we did the Gaspe for the first time and thought it was Heaven on Earth for a sledder. This year we are considering NB to try something different. Will be going first week of Feb. so hopefully snow isn't an issue. We will saddle bag, likely ride for 5 days. Any suggestions on starting places, must see , or lodging recommendations? Guessing we will be in the more northern part of NB. See there is a Northern Odessesy loop when googled. PISTON LAKE CRUISER Posted October 13, 2017 Share Posted October 13, 2017 Hi Steve. We have ridden in northern NB 3 times over the years. There are some pretty nice trails in the northern section. The eastern 1/2 seemed to be more bush with more open running on the western side. Some nice rail beds, logging roads and windy bush trails. Edmunston would be the natural place to start IMHO as it would be the shortest drive. If your group are high milers then I'm not sure the northern part would have enough trail for a 5 day loop. Not unlike Ontario, there can be quite a weather/snow difference between the northern area and the south depending on the year. We stayed at the Quality Hotel in Campbellton as it was right beside the trail. In Bathurst we stayed at the Atlantic Host which seemed to be a very popular spot for sledders. Gadgetman Posted October 13, 2017 Share Posted October 13, 2017 HI Steve, our group just did NB last year as one of our guys is from NB and has been sledding from just after diapers. Our trip was cut short because of very warm weather with rain at about the 4 day mark. We did follow what Piston noted. I can send you some garmin gps plots and stops once I get back from this business trip to Kuwait around 21 October, if you like. Same as you, our group has been doing a week long trip in ON since 1998, did the Gaspe in 2015, and loved it. This year we will try and retrace our Chapleau, Douberville route up to Hearst, starting from New Liskeard. Next year we will give NB another shot as, like Gaspe, the trails were awesome. So, if you are interested in our route or any other info I have, please PM me and I will gather up what I have and send it along the week of Oct 23rd. Cheers from 39c Kuwait. ... My pleasure.....here is another idea which you might want to consider if you are able to plan on the fly - (weather etc.) - travel New Brunswick north, down along the coast and sled into Nova Scotia......
