Fushimi Loop Report

Well I got out this morning, knowing it was gonna warm up bad this afternoon.  Replaced the missing scratcher on my machine, adjusted the oil pump down to spec (now off break-in), fuel oil gone.

Trails were very crusty as expected, scratchers were mandatory.  Rode the A out to the Fushimi road, got on the trailhead.  Looks better when open and full of tracks ....

Started out beautiful as above, got a little ways down the trail, was a little off-camber and rough, as it's a newly re-opened trail and in the ditch, with minimal snow.  Very passable and acceptable though.  It was only a couple of short spots that were choppy.

Got past the road crossing from West to East, then it opened up nicely.

.... little further down, just North of Fushimi Lake .....

... then all too quickly, it ended at the intersection near Passe a Fontaine (North of the bridge you cross going over the chain of lakes).

.... looking back into the loop from the intersection .....

Headed over the lakes, had plenty of time before it got too warm, trail was still pretty crusty...

The river crossings are starting to look kinda ugly-ish to the sides ... I'll not be venturing off the edges anytime soon ....

Rode over to the Ritchie trail, headed back towards town knowing I wouldn't likely make it on fuel to Mattice.  By this point the snow was starting to soften up on the surface, so I did a little burn down the A-trail power line when I got near town, then headed home.  Beauty morning, should have gone out earlier yet and enjoyed the cooler air, sled would have run a bit happier too.  It did just fine, got home just when it started getting above Zero, good timing.  Shined it up and put it to bed in the tempo.   133 km for the beauty morning ride.

Sun and terrain was just right for a new FB cover photo, couldn't resist one more pic .... :D

Denis that sounds like a great early ride.  That trail looks very nice.

It was, and it is ... Almost an extension of the beautiful over-the-lakes loop.  The open part through the logged section was stellar, could have been 30 miles more of it and that would have been fine with me :D

Looks like a nice rice. Better conditions than the last time you were out there ;-)

It might be worth fuelling up in Calstock , then doing a loop thru there and over the lakes when coming up from the West, rather than just heading straight to town. Nice bonus hour of scenery. ... :)
