Ice conditions

Most of the posts I see are really old

Does anyone know the condition of the ice on or near Sparrow Lake?

Thanks

Welcome aboard. Hope someone with local knowledge can assist.

Just noticed another thread re: Sparrow Lake. Please review posted trail  conditions and that thread.

Just noticed a post that said, according to CTV news, someone disappeared into open water on Sparrow.

So i guess that answers my question.

I wouldn't trust it, especially with the weather we have had. Yesterday they were looking for someone who went through the ice. If a route hasn't been staked by the local club, I'm just not going. I don't need to test my floater suit that badly.

More will get in trouble this weekend. Toronto Is always warm. When people show up to ride, they will think there is lots of ice. Blow a belt or something goes wrong, down you go and no one around to help. Bad scenario. This year even the stake lines could have bad spots with crazy weather.
