Thinking of riding from Huntsville to North Bay, but access to North Bay not available yet. Are they options for staying in Bonfield. Or should we truck on to Mattawa?

Dinner Bell at Bonfield has rooms. Clean but very basic and the restaurant has good food. There is also the Green Gables Lodge which gets very good reviews.

They are both great places to stay.  We've stayed at both places.  Excellent food, excellent service and excellent owners at both places.  If you like a lodge style go with Cedar Gables, if you like a regular motel with restaurant attached and licensed (excellent baked goods) go to Dinner Bell.  They are across from each other on Hwy#17.  Both on trail B201.  If no rooms available check into the Valois in Mattawa they still have rooms available.

We are booked in at the Valois for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.  YEEHAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you are in the area look for us and give us a wave

You could always go to Mattawa also.  Hope to see you on the trails.

While we were at the Dinner Bell for breakfast this morning we spoke with Deb and Clem about the closing of the restaurant on Monday and Tuesday.   Deb informed us that they will be OPEN for sledders ONLY both days for breakfast and dinner (not lunch).  They really want to accommodate the sledders. Dinner hours would be 6pm to 8pm.  Breakfast hours will be confirmed when I receive the e-mail from her later this week.  Hope this helps.

How many rooms does dinner bell have available to rent this winter. Last time I was there, they only had like 3 rooms total available, rest where rented to workers and long term stays.

Dinnerbell was good to me and Clem had an extra 5 gallons of gas for us, when we rolled in on fumes from stone cliff.

Is camp canawago back open with food and fuel? No reports from sledders over that way yet.

Our customers have asked us to open a couple of nights a week so, we are going to try it out. this weekend, We will still open at 11am but our restaurant will remain open until 9 pm on Friday Jan. 20th and Saturday Jan. 21st.
Look forward to seeing you here when you try out our delicious homemade specials !

Yes they are selling fuel also.

Here's Deb's post about the Dinner Bell hours for sledders also

We would like to advise our customers that even though the restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesday's, the motel is still open. We also serve breakfast to our guest on these days.
For the snowmobile season, on Monday's and Tuesday's we will be making a family style supper available from 6pm. To 9pm. By reservations only. Our Monday and Tuesday evening dinners will be posted by Sunday.
We also have premium gas available in case you are running low.
Enjoy the trails.

  • 3 weeks later...

Well we rented a cottage at Big Moose Camp. They normally cater to fishermen but will rent to snowmobilers as well. Trails were great couldn't ask for much better, hats off to the clubs up there. The folks at Big Moose were great as well, nice clean cottages,  definitely go back.
