"Day" Trail Passes?

Ox

Recommended Posts

I have a chum that will possibly be buying a weekend type pass. Possibly for next weekend, but - not likely.

I sent him the link to purchase them, and he said that it looked like you needed to doo it in advance so that they had time to mail them to you.

Shirley there is something that can simply be printed out eh?

The multi-day (minimum 2 days) permits are to be printed on your system and attached to the windshield in a plastic bag or similar.  As well, even the full season permits noe come with a 'temporary' printable permit so that you can ride while it is n the mail.

What's with the 2 day min rule?

We would be buying 2 days anyhow, but what about someone that wants to come up for a Sunday to try it out?

And for any local that decides that he wants to dig the old sled out and ride with the guys "tomorrow"?

A free weekend, but not a 1 day pass?

???

Yep. There is a 2 day minimum. Actually Ox, you are the first I have heard question it. I'm thinking that it is likely a bit of an effort to steer people towards a seasonal permit be it regular or classic but that's just my guess.

'Cuz many who bought 1 day would try to use it all week-end anyway.

Exactly!

I wish the free weekend would go away too!

I know guys who quit buying seasonal passes because of the free weekend which they are using again this year and just going to the UP the rest of the season.

US dollar exchange this season made it very easy to buy a seasonal permit.

Hi, you guys seem like you might know this, and I'm trying to help out some guests that will be staying with us in February, that are coming in from the States.

They are looking to pick up trail passes as soon as they hit Sault Ste. Marie - the gentleman I was speaking with said that many years ago (late 90s, early 2000s) you could pick them up at the Casino - do anyone know if this is the case? Or if you could point me in the proper direction?

I thought it would be easier to get the answer here, than to just randomly start calling places.

Thanks in advance!

OFSC Trail passes can only be purchased online this year. If they are buying multi day passes (2 day minimum), they can buy online and print them before leaving home and tape to the windshield of the sled. They can buy seasonal's on line but will have to have them shipped to their location and that takes some time.

I believe the seasonals have a 'print at home' temporary version as well.  That was supposed to be the plan for after Dec 1 permits, but I don't know if it is happening.  Can anyone confirm?

Hi Dunlop Lake Lodge,

From Dan K. in Sault Ste. Marie.  No Casino, no Sault Trailblazers Clubhouse, no Trading Post this year, everyone must purchase online just as Piston Lake Cruiser indicated and they will receive an immediate opportunity to print the temp pass until the permanent one arrives.  If they are purchasing multi-day passes, then, that is their permit and it must be printed.  Multi-day passes do not get mailed.  See my attached samples of a multi-day pass which is never mailed and a temporary seasonal pass until the permanent pass arrives in the mail.

Hope this helps.

So the temporary seasonal is only for after Dec 1? Do they email you a link with a pdf to print? I'm riding Kearney today and my trail pass still isnt here. No reply from ofsc the last 2 days. I ordered Nov 1. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

For what it's worth, at least you have an email "proof of purchase" you can take along on your ride.

Thats true Blake. At this point I hope the Highland Rovers are out checking for passes. Maybe i can get it all straightened out at the clubhouse and print out a temporary one there. Truck is loaded leaving soon.

I phoned the ofsc this week regarding my permit change from sled to sled.  They currently have over 500 changes in the process so they are busy.  They did not get back to work until Wednesday from the holiday so it seems like they are just backlogged with paperwork.  My understanding from them on the phone was I am fine with the current pass on the sled with the printed copy showing I have applied for a change until the actual one comes from them.   so I think your in sort of the same situation and you should be good with a printed copy.

Not very convenient seeing some people don't have a printer. Would be nice to be able to purchase from locations in person... or if a lost or stolen (or broken windshield) permit replacement could be purchased let's say your on a multi or day trip if needed. IMO.

Waiting since Nov. 1st seems like a long time Steve.  Something must be wrong and I hope you are able to get it sorted out.

FYI, I ordered my Classic Pass on December 14th and was given an immediate PDF file to download and print.  The permanent pass arrived on December 23rd.

Hope this helps.

If you don't have a printer, do your on line purchase at a friends place that has a permit. If you have the paperwork backup you are supposed to carry, you don't need to worry about a replacement "on a multi or day trip".

I have been waiting for my transfer since mid - December.  I just received a return email saying they cannot print the pictures I sent as the form asked me to send.  Now they have asked that I start over and send attachments rather than pictures as stated on the form.

With luck I can get this done by next season when it will no longer matter.

I am just riding with copies of my emails.  The transfer system is terrible!  I never put the original full season permit on my sled and have asked how to pay for the transfer, but they say I have to do what I have already done before they will let me know how I can pay????????

On the permit purchases side..............

Last season we had friends come up to ride OFSC Trails and they just got on the motels computer and bought and printed the 3 day passes after arriving in Ontario.

That seemed to work fine.
