Blake G
From the Snowcrest Riders Facebook Page (Gravenhurst, Muskoka, District 7): Please read this urgent call for all snowmobilers and stakeholders within Snowcrest Country: Snowcrest has always been a fantastic club, but we need our membership’s help and support to survive and be successful in the coming years. With over 1100 members, we have huge potential for strong volunteership, and an active sledding community. There is so much more to a successful club than paying for a permit: more hands make lighter work. Your club has overcome adversity and come back stronger, while winning provincial, national and international acclaim within the last five years! Over the last few seasons we have been moving forward with new trail projects, advocating for the sport and club and ensuring the best trails possible within the community while growing winter tourism substantially. There are many changes coming in the next few years that will greatly impact snowmobiling across the province and that includes here in Snowcrest country. We need dedicated snowmobilers to ensure the club’s success moving forward. The Annual General Meeting is Saturday, June 4 at the Residence Inn Muskoka Wharf (285 Steamship Bay Rd) beginning at 11AM. We need you to attend. We will be reviewing important upcoming items related to: • Election of new and existing Board members • Bill 100 related to landowners and snowmobile clubs • Season review • Club collaboration within District 7 and the new provincial OFSC "More On The Snow" initiative • Growing our volunteer list The current Snowcrest Board has been working together for multiple seasons now to be as successful as possible but we are running with a small crew of Volunteers who live over a large distance. We need help to continue. Snowcrest needs new Board Members to assist with or lead committees related to: • Social Events Coordinator/ Social Event Committee for up to 5 events per year including Golf Tournament Committee Poker Run Committee • Signage Co-ordinator/ Signage Committee • Trail Operations- trail maintenance and signage • Club Volunteer Coordinator to coordinate and grow our volunteer base • Communication Coordinator to keep our membership engaged on social media If this seems like a lot, imagine what the work ends up like without the required support. Please consider giving some of your time this year to support the sport you love. If you would like to learn more about a Board position, please contact us at Snowcrest@vianet.ca, prior to May 25. We need a few Board members, but an army of Volunteers. Volunteers are the life blood of any club, and it is a great way to get out and have fun with other club members. Any amount of time offered is worthwhile! If you’d like to volunteer email Snowcrest@vianet.ca or Personal Message us on Facebook with your first/ last name, phone and email. Blake G
Snowcrest Riders had a very successful AGM yesterday at the Residence Inn Marriott at Muskoka Wharf. We had a better turnout than last year, with approximately thirty people in attendance. (Half a dozen OC members.) One director decided not to run again, having successfully completed his two year term. The other eight existing directors decided to continue. Four new directors joined the group. Now the board has grown to 12, and contains a good mix of long term directors and fresh faces. Several new volunteers were in the crowd, along with many long term contributors. This bodes well for next season. The President's report was an excellent summary of the past year's events, and an informed outlook on the future direction for the club.
