Just spent three days two nights at Halfway Haven and?????? Damn Sean i put on 5 lbs, you are the best chef ever. Great rustic lodging, very warm and clean bedrooms, your puppies are the best greeters, Im lying, the whole group there are great. It was the best three days ive had in a long time and im going back next month. Prices for a isolated resort are very fair. I hope Sean and their group have a successful season. And i have nothing to do with halfway except spend some money there and meet new friends???

Yes i  went there with the sault's trail blazers club, i think  there was over 30 some of us there. Great time. As for the snow it is great in that area, a little less in the wawa area but still decent. If anyone is thinking of going there call first to make sure gas is available. It about 88 miles from searchmont and about 72 miles from wawa. 705-812-1671  halfway haven

We spent two nights the week prior and I agree with the food being great! You get a great dinner and full breakfast included when you spend the night. Even big eaters will not be hungry and Sean is a great chef!

They have big tanks for fuel and a "new to Halfway" road grader to keep emergency access open to Hwy. 101 for supplies & fuel if needed.

Sean and the guys will do all they can to help if you have any issues. They were great!

Spent the night at Halfway, rode to Dub and spent the night, and rode back to Halfway to spend a second night. Then we got up and rode back to Searchmont and drove back home to lower Michigan to finish a great trip.

Trails are groomed now and this trip would be much faster.

We usually park at the Driftwood which is on the trail/road. Turn right onto Whitman Dam Road a couple roads after you cross over the river in Searchmont and then a mile or two up the road on the right. Call Carl or his wife at 705-781-3128 about parking.

I like to be closer to the end of the road and beginning of the trail portion, but they have been leaving good snow on the edge of the road. He is about a mile from the bus turn around and where the trail starts and plowing stops.

Bring extra gas incase you want to go in another direction after you return. Heading north you can go to Halfway or turn right at Domtar Road and head to Black creek/ Aubrey Falls. You can make it direct from Aubrey Falls to Halfway on most sleds.

We've stayed overnight. Large cabin. Moose pie supplied with side dishes. In the oven, good to go. Recommend the Driftwood Chalets.

Rode from the Soo to Wawa this winter and stopped at Halfway for lunch, awesome food as previously mentioned. Did Wawa to Dub (to meet the Groomer Guy) and back to HH the next day and overnighted. Then HH back to the Soo.

Big shout out to Carl at the Driftwood for arranging to have fuel for us!!, we couldn't have made it otherwise!!

Hopefully Sean and the guys get enough business to keep HH open, if you haven't stayed there, ya gotta add it to your bucket list.
