Red Green
Would not surprise me if there was a good under lying story when it comes out with regards to the closure. I have some good friends in Bear Lake .i will investigate

02Sled
Maybe it got sled business in the winter when trails were open but what would draw you there any other time
steve c
I think a lot of the places around there only get business with the sledders in the winter. Â Two winters ago we were renting a cottage in Kearney and dropped into Sud's on Main to watch the hockey game because the satellite in the cottage was down. Â We were the only ones in there, so started chatting with the waitress and she said that the winter time is their busiest time all year. Â I would think the Sprucedale should get some more traffic in the summer as the ATV trails use the same trails as the sled trails up there. I think the biggest problem with the Sprucedale is the history of the place. Â

I'm pretty sure there have been a lot of less than stellar reviews about the place in recent years. I guess it caught up to them.
Canuck
Every community should have a 'gathering' place. This pub, love it or leave it, had a role in the community. Sad to see it closed.

Aluminum wiring maybe? I know they are cracking down on that. Must be the insurance company, since hydro doesn't regulate rules after the meter. SlowTouringGuy
Googled Sprucedale Hotel and the real estate listing says it was built in 1899.. That would be about right. whits-end
According to our local Fire Prevention Officer, he initiated the shut down after routine inspection. Â No mention of a sale. Â He would not elaborate, but it would appear the violations were significant. Â Immediate shut down was ordered, no grace period to repair and comply.
