Just arrived at the Quality. Great people here, I called from Burlington and told them we would be in at about 9:30, they kept the kitchen open so we could have a bite. Looking forward to the ride to the Sportsman tomorrow, trails look nice. We're going to do the Smooth Rock, Fraserdale, Cochrane loop in a few days. Can anyone confirm there is fuel in Fraserdale?

Was at sportsmans yesterday. George said hardly a sled started in the morning. He was putting fast chargers on each for two hours and they still barely turned over. All makes.

Great ride today. 215 miles Parry Sound to Sportsman Inn. Trails were a little choppy around Sudbury otherwise really nice. Thanks to the volunteers. Took us a little longer than anticipated, it was overcast and difficult to see the trail at times. It was also a rather technical 215 miles. I expect the run to Post 392 will be about faster, we might be able to hit the 50 km/h tomorrow. Cold is in the forecast. It will be -15 F when we start.

Hey Akron, did you take the C trail from Estaire north?

We ran it today around 3pm and it was terrible. We did see a Bull Elk 7 Kms north of Estaire just where trail meets the train tracks. Was neat to see. Never seen one before. Didn't hang around for us to take a picture of him.

The trails yesterday up around where you are now we're awsome!

Never seen any in my travels thru the Burwash/Estaire area. Elk getting hit by the trains in that area is a problem affecting the population. I've seen elk on the railbed south of Bancroft.

Yes, trails around Estaire were choppy and it was tough to see with the overcast skies. I would say we had about 30 miles of less than perfect trails, overall it was a good day.

Never saw an Elk on the trail, there was a wolf on the trail last year near Hornepayne, he wouldn't get off, just kept running ahead of us, he was seriously pissed off when I passed him, I'll never forget the look he gave me.

We're just about to get started for Post 392, it's cold and clear, should be a faster 200 miles today.

I forgot to mention this morning what a nice dinner and breakfast we had at the Sportsman. George and everyone there were great. I hadn't stayed there before, it really is a great place to stay for a larger group. They have a large lodge for gathering (drinking) before and after dinner.

We rode about 220 miles today, 20 was my mistake when we started. So it was about 200 miles from Sportsman to Post 392. Trails were very good with the exception of C north of Gogama, they were a bit choppy. We ran from Sportsman to Shining Tree got gas at the store and had couple of beers with Brandon at 3 Bears. They are open for food and lodging.

It was a much easier 200 miles today. The 4 strokes love the trails up here, big sweeping curves at 50 km/h. We're headed to Hearst tomorrow. I'm sure our bellies will be full after our stay here at 392, Marie serves the best dinner and breakfast you will have.

Marie did not disappoint, the food was immense and spectacular.

We'll wait until about 10:00 before we leave for Hearst, it's -25 here now maybe it will warm up to -20 when we leave. Should be a fast trip today. We'll stop in Moonbeam for some soup and warm up for a while. It will be nice to be able to have the sleds inside tonight. We might have a beverage with Denis007 tonight.

I'll post again later. Stay warm!

Don't think you will find Moonbeam clubhouse open through the week. Lack of volunteers apparently.

Nice to meet Bob & Gary (?)  last night, went out to meet them at the Companion, hung out for a coupla hours with them.  Loved the "garage sale" story & photo ... lol !!!  Sure is nice to meet people that appreciate others and are considerate, not everyone is like that up here, refreshing to have some very pleasant guests in town.  Have a safe trip back home guys.

Oh, and Thanks for the beer .... :-)

Yes Moonbeam is closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

We rode 235 miles yesterday in about 5 hours. The trails were spectacular, wide and smooth, best day yet. We stopped for about an hour at Mikey's, we had a problem with a heated shield on a new Ski-Doo modular helmet. The girl at the counter was awesome, a number of the shields she tried were scratched or defective in some way, she found one that met her standard, installed it and sent us on our way. We rode to Hearst without incident. The hot tubs are no longer open so we sat at the bar, relaxed and had few beers with Denis007, more good people from Ontario and the forum, it was our pleasure.

Today we rode from Hearst to Cochrane via the Abitibi Loop, 285 miles. The groomer gods were with us; twice we met groomers on A trail today, really smooth sailing after each of those, not that it was bad at all on the ride in yesterday. A103 from Smoothrock was a little choppy, it is a wide open trail along wide Hydo lines. Fueled at the Base Camp ($2.50/liter) and continued to Cochrane. The east portion of the A103 was really nice, recently groomed and a great trail, a little of everything; twisty in places and wide open in others. It started snowing hard when we were about 20 miles from Cochrane, made it difficult to see the trail at times.

Tomorrow were off to Gowganda, staying at Auld Reekie for the first time. Looking forward to it.

We had a nice easy ride to Gowganda from Cochrane today, 218 miles. It was cold again, -15 F when we left. But it was a good day, sunny all day and the trails again were fantastic. Left Cochrane at 9:00 arrived at Auld Reekie at about 3:30. Had a few beers at the bar and had a nice visit with Urs and Dianne and their children. Everyone was working in the business. We had a wonderful rib dinner and went back to our cabin.

We're going to North Bay tomorrow. We'll go to Rockies for gas then head across the lake and make our way to D trail. Hope to meet up with Monte2014 and his crew for a beverage.
